Good afternoon 🙂
As usual, y’all rock. Thank you so much for the sweet and encouraging comments this morning. Your comments always bring a smile to my face!
Church was awesome this morning…it was PACKED and there was a great, almost magnetic, energy in the place. The band totally rocked out with electric guitars and my bad mood was completely erased. Even better, the bbq was sooooooooo good!!!!!
I am a true Southern girl at heart and LOVE LOVE LOVE my bbq!!!! Good ol’ Southern bbq always reminds of Alabama football!!! I found this crazy old photo of my friend Amari and I before one of the games. This was taken six years ago! 🙂
awwww a roaring 20s date party!
(ps–I really miss my long hair!)
Anyways, today I filled up on all my very favorites—pulled pork, potato salad, baked beans, hush puppies and washed it all down with some sweet tea 🙂 It was marvelous. I rarely drink sweet tea anymore just ’cause its so filled with sugar, but dang! the stuff is delicious….my favorite drink by far.
I’m off to the coffee shop to write for a few hours. Enjoy your Sunday!

I wish we had a coffee shop around here that was cool enough to go sit in!

August 30, 2009 at 2:36 pmOh man, southern BBQ sounds soooo good! Cute pics too! I totally know what you mean about missing the long hair, every time i cut mine I miss having it long, and when it gets long I want it short again!

August 30, 2009 at 2:50 pmSO glad that you’re feeling better after church and some yummy BBQ. 🙂

August 30, 2009 at 2:54 pmNothing like good ole’ bbq food! I haven’t tried sweet tea before, but it is popping up in Minneapolis EVERYWHERE. I swear, every few weeks I see a sign on a restaurant window talking about sweet tea. Maybe it is a sign telling me I need to try it 🙂
I know the feeling about the long hair vs. short hair issue. Whenever I have short hair, I want long hair. Whenever I have long hair, I want short hair. What gives? I currently have long hair and am content, but it is only a matter of time my friend, before I want to chop it off and do the whole long vs. short debate again!

August 30, 2009 at 3:30 pmBBQ is the best! I’m glad you had such a good morning in church. That energy is infectious! Good luck with your running. Blisters are frusturating, because your not “injured”, but you still can’t run on them, especially when they’re as bad as the ones you got! They will heal though, eventually!

August 30, 2009 at 3:38 pmHey Jenna,
Sorry to hear about the blisters … I can get them pretty bad too. But throw away that moleskin! Moleskin is terrible! I’ve found that the stickiness of the adhesive actually pulls on the skin and creates new (and bigger) blisters! Instead, blister band-aids (http://www.bandaid.com/productList.do?typeId=4) are heaven sent! They’re gel-padded and the adhesive doesn’t pull the way moleskin does. I did a three-week hike in Nepal and had blisters on my feet for most of it, and someone I met on the trail gave me some of these and they were awesome! Seriously love them … and, no, I don’t work for Band-Aid. Hope you can find them and hope they work as well for you as they did for me. Good luck training!

August 30, 2009 at 3:41 pmI’m so glad things turned around for you today. What a lovely bbq, and it sounds like you had a wonderful time.
And I totally agree that your long hair is GORGEOUS, but life is too short to keep your hair one length! You have to play around with it! And I think short hair suits you just as well. 🙂

August 30, 2009 at 7:38 pmBBQ looks great. Glad you’re feeling better. I think the unofficially “end” of summer leaves even the best of us feeling a little down in the dumps. Then again, you’re in Florida! Take care 🙂

August 30, 2009 at 8:11 pmI’m glad you’re feeling better – hang in there with the blister! Your dress looks so cute, I love it! Hope the rest of your afternoon went well 🙂

August 30, 2009 at 8:16 pmYay for feeling better 🙂 Love the old pics! I always get a kick out of people in the south calling it “sweet tea.” Here in Canada, we just call it “iced tea.” Guess we just assume it’s sweet 😉
Hope you had fun shopping!
Amelia
August 30, 2009 at 8:24 pmOhh man you’ve totally got me craving some good Southern food now. It’s probably for the best that I can’t get sweet tea in NYC! 🙂
Cute dress!

August 30, 2009 at 9:11 pmLove the flashback photos. As for the long hair, I just recently (last week) cut 9 inches of hair off and I am LOVING my new ‘do.’ I really love you with short hair because I think it frames your face very well, but I know what you mean in missing the long hair. The only thing I miss is being able to fit it all in a ponytail or swoop it all into a messy bun. But honestly, I am SOOO glad I cut it. It was very liberating!

November 11, 2010 at 7:56 pmI was just in Tuscaloosa for a football game.. All these pictures made me smile and laugh! So awesome. There really isn’t anything that compares to an Alabama/Auburn rivalry week football game. So excited to see what the future holds for U of A!
