Hi guys!
I’m blogging a little late because Ryan and I ended up going out to dinner and we just got back now! This afternoon I had a late little treat snack:
YUM! I just couldn’t resist because I drove by my favorite place on my way in to Tampa. This is all natural, fat free plain frozen yogurt (25 kcals per ounce and I had a small, which is 5 oz) with pom. seeds (!!!), raspberries and chocolate chips. This is pretty much the best snack ever.
I ran errands and then later on, around 6:30, went over to my parent’s house to have a glass of wine with my mom because my dad wasn’t home yet. I brought over a bottle of Pinot Noir Rose wine from France. It was the perfect apertif. I never really got into drinking rose, but lately I’ve been liking them because it’s still 95 degrees outside here and it’s the perfect thing for late summer afternoons.
My mom and I also had some snacks:
I am in love with these little cheese puffs. Here they are:
They are seriously like little cheesy puffs of heaven. I probably had a small handful as well as a few almonds. Ryan didn’t get over there until almost 8:30 to go out to dinner so I had to stay fueled! In total, I had about 1.5 glasses of the Rose.
And then we finally got out to dinner! We went to a small place called Mad Dogs and Englishmen. It’s literally one block from my parent’s house and while we have been to lunch here a bunch of times, I had never had dinner there.
We had about a 15 minute wait for a table, so we sat down at the bar and I ordered a glass of organic Reisling from Washington State. They have a really cool wine list! I guess I was just in the Reisling mood from trying them at school earlier and this was really good. Not too sweet! They had quite a heavy hand though when filling up my glass and I only finished half of it with dinner.
When we finally sat down, I immediately ordered a house salad and Ryan ordered an appetizer—spicy tempura shrimp.
My salad was quite delish! It had walnuts in it as well as chunks of Stilton cheese with a raspberry dressing. I also had one of Ryan’s shrimp. Tasty, but very deep fried!
They had these amazing looking pizzas on the menu so I knew I just had to do it. I ordered the Arugula & Spinach Pizza (10 inch) and Ryan had the Pulled Pork Pizza (figures!):
Not sure what happened to the picture there!!
The pizza was good, but definitely more of a flatbread. It had a very crispy, cracker-like crust (similar to French pizzas!), had no sauce but tons of feta cheese and plum tomatoes, and was covered with salad and kalamata olives! Very interesting…I don’t think I’ve ever had anything quite like it! For a pizza, it sure tasted healthier than the cheesy, gooey, doughy ones I usually order!
I ate the entire thing except for two slices. It’s definitely one of those things that you keep picking at! I loved the crispy crunch of the crust!
We are home now and I am totally exhausted….it’s hard to have late nights when you wake up at 6 am! I am planning on a run first thing tomorrow morning (since I didn’t make it to the gym today!) and I think we might be surfing tomorrow as well. I hope y’all had a great night—see you at breakfast!

I’m doing a run at the crack of dawn as well. Happy running!

I just had to comment on that yogurt/pomegranate/chocolate concoction- that’s possibly the most amazing-sounding snack I’ve ever heard of!

September 13, 2008 at 12:25 pmSuch a luscious-looking snack!! I’ve never eaten pomegranate seeds before – I’m afraid of them getting stuck in my seeds, haha 🙂

September 13, 2008 at 12:34 pmDecadent snack! Probably the only place I’ve ever tried rose was IN France, but it is a nice afternoon sipper. Those pizzas/flatbreads look really good too! Have a great Saturday! 🙂

September 13, 2008 at 1:38 pmHi! I was hoping i would catch your breakfast post, since this is regarding brekkie! But, oh well, I guess it really doesnt matter! All this week I’ve been eating “EatLiveRun inspired” overnight oats and been trying different combos and this morning was a winner that I thought you would like it too! I did 1/2 oats and 1/2 Ezekial cinnamon raisin and then added some banana and slivered almonds this morning. I know you like the Ezekial cereals too so I thought I would share! Hope your having a great weekend 🙂

September 13, 2008 at 1:47 pmThose pizzas look fabulous! I’ve never been fond of Rose either. I don’t know if I haven’t found a good brand, or if I just plain don’t like it. Glad you are starting to enjoy Reisling!

September 13, 2008 at 10:30 pmYour pizza looks great – I never thought of “salad” on top of my pizza! Definitely will recreate that. I’ll have to try feta on pizza too. Thanks!
