Breakfast/ Exercise/ Fitness/ Lunch

She’s a Plate Cleaner!

Happy Sunday!

I feel like I’m in some sort of time warp because it’s 2:30 and I’m just getting home from the gym and lunch now and we left this morning at 10!! We definitely didn’t work out THAT long this morning, although we met a couple friends at the gym and had a great exercise session.

I had a GREAT new breakfast this morning which actually kept me going for over 5 hours. I like to eat every 3 hours but I didn’t have a choice since the line for the cafe at lunch took an hour. Needless to say, I was quite ready by the time the food came at 1:30! As for my breakfast, I had 1/4 cup steel cut oats made a banana and 3/4 cup water and I stirred 1/2 scoop of protein powder into the end product as well as a big spoonful of almond butter. The protein powder must have added that kick because I had a great session at the gym and felt very energized all morning long. Woohoo!!

I did shoulders/triceps/biceps at the gym and here was my routine today:

2 minutes on the treadmill to warm up

3 sets of triceps pulldown. 30 lbs

3 sets of lateral raises. 15 lbs

3 sets of shoulder presses with dumbbells. 20 lbs

3 sets of lying triceps extension. 30 lbs

3 sets of hammer curls. 15 lb dumbbells

3 sets of bicep curls with cable machine. 20 lbs

3 sets of assisted pullups. 30 lbs assisted weight

And then after lifting, Ryan, Erin and our friend Jeff and I all put on our bathing suits and goggles and headed out to swim some laps. I am very very very new to swimming since I really never took swim lessons as a kid and never swam actual strokes growing up. I was always a doggy paddle kind of girl. I’m trying to get better at it since Ryan loves it so much and it would be a fun exercise we can do together. He was michael phelps in the pool today and I swam about 6-7 laps doing the breast stroke until I passed out on the side of the pool.

We went to my faaaaaavorite cafe for lunch: Daily Eats. I ALWAYS order the exact same thing! The greek egg white omelet with whole wheat toast and fruit and I smother it in ketchup and hot sauce :). The omelet is filled with kalamata olives, tomatoes and feta cheese and is sooo delicious. Ryan and I also split an order of turkey sausage but I ate two of the links and he only got one. I also ate the other half of his toast but gave him most of my fruit. Haha poor Ryan. My body was starving for carbs and just food in general at this point and I cleaned my entire plate in about five minutes flat and then was STILL HUNGRY!!!!!!! Can you believe that? I think I will have a little snack in about an hour and drink some water. It was sure delicious!!

Just curious do you notice a difference in satiety when you mix oatmeal with milk versus fage?

    Enjoy your day!

    Hi Amy!

For sure! The protein in the fage keeps me satisfied for waaaay longer. The fage has 15 grams of protein whereas 1 cup milk only has 8, I believe. And the same number of calories. I prefer oatmeal mixed with cottage cheese rather than fage though..it’s my favorite!

Looks like you’ve been inspired to swim! I watched the Olympic marathon last night and was all sorts of inspired for my run this morning 🙂

    Jenna,
How long do chicken leftovers stay in the fridge? I am always afraid of keeping food for too long…

    Thanks!

Brunch looks great! Reminds me of a great little breakfast nook near campus in Kalamazoo where I’m from; after a morning workout my husband and I would go there when we were dating and I’d get almost that same breakfast! It was such a great relief to fill up on proteins and carbs after working so hard. Yum!

    Bev,

That kind I used was Designer whey vanilla. I also have Jay Robb’s chocolate. I like to switch back and forth…both are really good and natural and can help you meet your protein goals 🙂

    Kate,

TECHNICALLY you can keep leftovers for 6 days but I recommend 3 just because after 3 days the quality kind of fades….
