Breakfast

Smooth Operator

Good morning!

So, how awesome was Michael Phelps last night?! Ryan is a swimmer too, so we love to watch all the Olympic swimming. It’s so amazing that he is my age and already has won numerous gold medals. Makes me feel like a momo of sorts! haha 🙂

It was soooo nice to go to bed before 11:30 last night and I slept great all through the night, waking up at around 8:15. For breakfast, I made some quick steel cut oats with water and added a small chopped banana and a big spoonful of almond butter. On the side I had a Fage and blueberries.

However, halfway through eating I was getting tired of sticking my spoon into two separate bowls so I just combined the two:

Mmmmm it was actually a really good combo! The guy at the grocery store told me he combines his Fage (he’s Greek and loooves Fage as well!) with his oatmeal and blueberries and that I should try it. This was a very cute old Grandfather man and I told him I would try it of course so this morning I did and it was very yummy! Smoother than my  cottage cheese combo but cottage cheese is more affordable than Fage so I’ll probably still be resorting to that most days at home.

Ryan found a guest pass to his fancy shmancy health/fitness club last night so I get to go with him today for a great workout! He pays more to go to this gym because it has a pool and, like I said, he’s a swimmer. It’s his favorite form of exercise. I prefer to lay by the side of the pool and get tan, myself. 😉 So after I rouse him from bed (he’s still sleeping!) we are going to make our way over there for a little while. I haven’t been to a “real” gym in months and months so this is a big treat! It’s funny how we take for granted these things but when you work out in a tiny apartment gym the size of a closet everyday it becomes a big deal. I can’t wait to move back and join the gym about 50 feet from our apartment. Talk about convenient!

I was so happy for Michael Phelps! Did you know that when he was a child, his teacher told his mother that Michael would never be able to focus on anything? I certainly hope she caught the games last night 😛

One of my favorite little bakeries sells these amazing tuna salad wraps… one time I mentioned how good they were and the counter girl said it was because they use non-fat Greek yogurt (instead of mayo) in the tuna. I recommend trying it with your canned salmon sometime!

If you’re looking for cheaper greek yogurt, Trader Joe’s sells a Greek yogurt that is pretty good and significantly cheaper than Fage. Also, some Costco’s sell large containers of Fage at a pretty good price, too. Or you could make your own – just drain regular plain yogurt (in a strainer lined with cheesecloth or coffee filters) in the fridge overnight.

Hmm, I never see you mention Trader Joe’s, so maybe you don’t have those in Florida.
