Dinner/ Lunch

Snappy Snappy

Thanks for everyone’s supportive comments this morning regarding the baaad leg! I did some thinking today (and I’ve been extremely bummed because of it), and I think I’m going to go ahead and get an MRI this week. The Doctor I saw told me to call back if I felt it was getting worse or the pain was continuing past the first 10 minutes of my run….so I think I would be rather safe than sorry. Believe me, I’m bummed. But I’m really trying my hardest to stay positive and think that everything happens for a reason. Hopefully I will get good results from the Doctor!

As for today—we ended up going out on the boat all day and Ryan did some surfing and did some sun bathing :). I snacked on a Chobani before leaving the house:

And then for lunch, we stopped at this little Greek place, Louis Pappas, in St.Pete and I got the most amazing lunch ever! It was a roasted vegetable “sandwich” (aka a hot, chewy pita bread–I requested no butter) with feta cheese in it. The veggies included artichokes, spinach, caramelized onions, portabello mushrooms, zucchini and more. It was to die for. It came with a side “cafe” salad. SO good!

I promise it was better than it looked!

And then later on the boat I snacked on a chocolate peanut butter Pure Protein bar but the waves were crazy and I couldn’t get my camera in time (or without it getting soaked!)!

Tonight we brought a bottle of Pinot Noir over to my parent’s house for dinner. I picked out this—it’s Angeline from the Russian River Valley. It went perfectly with our shrimp scampi dinner!

This was a very light body Pinot Noir with hints of raspberry and blackberry (don’t I sound like a wine geek?!) I would definitely buy this again though. I loved how light it was!

Right when we arrived I had a glass of Rose though while I helped my mom prepare dinner and the boys talked football…

And then for dinner we started with these Greek salad kabobs my mom made. SO yummy!

They included red onion, fresh buffalo mozzerella, kalamata olives, tomato and basil. My favorite combo 🙂

And then we had Engagement Scampi for dinner!

I use the same recipe as my mom but whenever she make it it’s about 500 times better than when I make it. How does that work?!! I cleaned my plate tonight!!! =)

And then she made parfaits with Ciao Bella Coconut Sorbet and organic blackberries:

We are still at my parent’s house watching the OSU/USC game. We are HUGE Ohio State fans and have the big red flag waving outside of our house right now but it’s not looking up at halftime so who knows...Unfortunately I have a bad headache (which I attribute to not drinking enough water today in the sun and being stressed out about my leg) and Ryan thinks I’ve been moody all day.

Cranky girl. I want Ohio State to score. I promise to be nicer tomorrow! 😉

Have a great night y’all, see ya in the morning!

Good idea to go to the doctor, you need to find out what’s going on! Sounds like a fun day and a very yummy lunch. Isn’t it funny how anything moms make taste better? Even if is just a sandwich? Random question: Did anyone’s mom ever put notes in your lunch when you were in elementary school? My mom did and it always made my day (and my lunch)! Ok, I’ll stop being a drok now 😛

    Jenna,
We love Ohio State, too! We are cranky watching this game…. ugh. Come on, Buckeyes!!

I hope your MRI goes well. I feel so bad and hope no matter what you still can enjoy running or yoga or lifting weights all healthy.

Notes in lunches, I forget, but remember my lunch box looked like a Hershey candy bar and I loved it when mom would pack a snack pack (those puddings) and especially the individual bags of Doritoes. Oh baby. Those were the days.

Warm, Fresh, and Chewy Pita Bread with that sweet hint of THE BEST AND PUREST greek olive oil is PURE BLISS to this girl! Greek food is one of my FAAAVORITE cuisines of ALL TIME for that reason alone. Oh man. I’m mad jeal, Jen, MAD. JEAL. SISTA.

I’m so sorry your leg is bothering you so badly! Ugh, that sounded SO awful! I hope you feel better, and it’s okay to be a Crabby Patty! Some times you need to get it out! And I’d be totally frustrated too! Heck I sure as hell was when I was in my CAST/BOOT for 3.5 months! So good that you’re getting this checked out early! Smart Cookie 😉

Have a great night and that dinner looks so BEAUTIFUL!!! Especially the SOrbet and Blackberries combo! Divine 🙂

    Jenna,
I know exactly how you feel about the leg situation. I started running last year a lot and I had this sharp pain in my thigh every time after I ran. I couldn’t pin point the type of hurt, (muscle soreness, etc) but it felt like what I thought a stress fracture would feel like. Anyway, I went to the doctor had an MRI and results came back normal. He told me he didn’t know what it was. I was totally bummed because I didn’t know what I could do to make it better. I started to do other forms of cardio instead and the pain went away. I just started running more again this year and the pain has not returned. I know how much it sucks to not be able to run when you’re passionate about it so I empathize with you!! I’ll be praying for ya and hope that your results from the MRI are normal!

That dinner looks absolutely exceptional. I need to bookmark that recipe to try for the future.

I’m so sorry about your leg! I hope things go OK for you at the doctor; it would be terrible if something were truly wrong.

And gosh we just cannot agree on football teams, can we? I do not like USC or Ohio State, but I think OSU is terribly overrated (and tonight may have proved me right) and I want my Bulldogs to stay at No. 2 (although today was nothing special for us). I hope the rest of your evening went well, even though OSU ended up not scoring! 😉

Being an Ohio State alum and a resident of Columbus, Ohio, fan! I am absolutely pleased as pie to hear that you are a Buckeye fan! had no idea!
On another note, poor us. 🙁 I am so sad and depressed. We watched the game at a local sports bar with a bunch of our friends and the momentum of the crowd fizzled to almost nothing by fourth quarter. It was such a bummer.
On a positive note, your dinner looks fabu!!!
