Dessert

Something Cold and Sweet

I feel a little better after soup, medicine and a bubble bath! Plus, the new Bon Appetit is amazing (the issue with the pancakes on the cover) ! It’s called the “green issue” and is full of recipes that feature organic ingredients plus has a spotlight on seasonal veggies and how to prepare them and store them. PLUS-some great little food writing stories! Good bubble bath read 🙂 When I got out of the bath I was very hungry…probably because I had less than 300 calories for my dinner! It’s hard when you are hungry but eating food hurts….ah! I settled on ice cream in a situation like this. I mixed 1/4 cup breyer’s all natural vanilla with 1/4 cup haagen-daz raspberry sorbet and topped it with a homemade strawberry sauce that I made from nuking 4 frozen berries in the microwave for 30 seconds with a sprinkle of cane sugar. It was heavenly and surprisingly only 143 calories. After I ate it though I was stillll hungry so I ate 7 organic honey graham sticks, making my whole dessert about 210 calories. I ate a small dinner but a big dessert! haha 🙂 I wanted to eat some carbs though because I’m going to take a pain killer in about 30 minutes probably and it’s not good to do that (or any med for that matter) on a not full tummy.

Okay—off to sleep off this nasty bug! Have a good night and I’ll check in tomorrow (hopefully feeling better!!!)

This scrumptious sundae was only 143 calories! Of course I had to add some graham crackers to boot…

I know you are in to being fit but take it from Roger Clemens, steroids are not the answer! haha, well I hope you feel better, I know ice cream usually does the trick. at least your not going to feel as bad as your dad tomorrow when he wakes up with a giant hangover from all the Hurricanes on Bourbon Street and the realization his beloved buckeyes are going to lose again, oh wait sorry forgot this is just a food blog, not a football blog, well I made a giant orange juice smoothie with a bunch of vitamin C pills, and nyquil since I have whatever you have:(

Hi Jenna! I love your blog and find your eating philosophy very similar to mine. I am also attending Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School– I go to the one in San Francisco! I love it…I have already taken the Baking class…it has been my favorite so far!! It made me want to change my career path from culinary to Pastry! I also discovered a love of food while in Paris when my boyfriend and I spent time there after I graduated college! My dream would be to go bake pastries in Paris!! Externship maybe??? Anyways I love reading your blog and have tried some of your recipes…great! Keep up the good work!!

Thanks for the help with the biscotti! I didn’t see your post , but I went with 1/2 cup ( I had individual applesauce containers for lunch) -good guess! They turned out delicious! I used dried cherries, no nuts, and drizzled white chocolate on top- so good! I’m also glad that I read that it was hard to knead and get it on the pan. Truthfully, I didn’t knead it at all, the “dough” was more of a thick batter…so i rolled up my sleeves and dropped in one the pan and tried to shape it the best I could. Once it was cut, it looked just like biscotti, even tho the logs weren’t exactly even-hahaha! Thanks!

    Krista,

Just one day of baking class makes me want to change over to the pastry program!!!! I originally wanted to do just pastry, but i figured if im spending all this money I might as well learn how to do it ALL…and I enjoy learning so much about everything but pastry and baking is where my heart is!! How far along are you in the program? I just started in October…

    thanks for reading!
