Splurging Again!

Hello bloggies!

I’ve had a lovely relaxing day today….just what the doctor ordered! I ran errands around town (stopped at Sports Authority to look for spinning shoes and they didn’t them?!) and while I was running around, I snacked on one of my new muesli cereal bars and an apple for a snackeroo on the go.

I had never tried this kind of bar before but I have to say I was quite pleased! It was soft (almost like an oatmeal cookie) and very flavorful with oats, almonds, hazelnuts, pecans, dried apricots and honey being the key ingredients. Each bar has 184 calories in it and 7 grams of protein. I’m glad I bought the box because these will be perfect for my mid-morning snacks.

The weather was goooorgeous today so after Ryan came back from golf, we took a little walk outside for about 30 minutes. We stopped at William Sonoma on the way and I had two tiny pieces of their white chocolate peppermint bark….they made it into my mouth way too fast for a picture!

When we got back from our walk I was in the chocolate peppermint mood and it was quite chilly so I bust out my favorite holiday drink ever: chocolate peppermint westsoy!!! I LOVE this stuff! I heated up a half cup of it in my favorite mug that broke a few months ago but Ryan surprised me by super gluing it back together—what a guy :).

(don’t you love our pictures in the background on the fridge?! I made Ryan that collage for our 1st anniversary!)

For dinner, we ended up going over to one of our friend’s houses to celebrate some birthdays. We had LOTS of red wine, pizza and birthday cake. It actually ended up being way more of a splurge night than last night but was totally worth it! Here was my plate with two slices of spinach, mushroom and tomato pizza with greek salad:

Just for the record I went back for seconds on the salad and ate all of Ryan’s crusts!

We were celebrating three birthdays tonight and our friends got a wonderful homemade birthday cake from one of the best bakeries in town….it was a white cake with chocolate frosting but was DIVINE. There was no way I could say no to this! Ryan and I split this piece:

Yep, we devoured that cake!

img_3659.JPG

It was pretty amazing. Especially the chocolate frosting. And I’m pretty picky about cakes since, well, I make them for a living now! 😉

I also had about 2 or 3 (??) glasses of cabernet as well. It was just one of those nights……

Tomorrow I am waking up and hitting the gym AGAIN.…..Ryan promised me he would take me to my favorite restaurant for lunch and then we are going over to a friend’s house to watch the FL/FL state game. Should be a good Saturday!

My eyes are shutting and its definitely time to shut off the lights. I hope yall are having a wonderful Friday and I will see you first thing in the morning! 🙂

And, for the record and since I KNOW there are going to be people asking……Ryan and I have decided NOT to live together starting next month after all. It was a really really hard decision that I had to make, but I will be moving back in with the good ol’ rents for a little while when I move home. I do have my reasons for this and no, we are not breaking up or anything crazy like that. We just decided that it would mean more to wait until we are married to live together. Hopefully it won’t be too long! 😉

    Jenna,
Happy post turkey day! Girl, I just love your blog. That cake looked amaaaaazing and you and R have fun tomorrow! Also, I think it’s VERY COOL that you are waiting til your married to live together. Hubby and I waited to live together too, and boy it was so worth it and after 15 years of marriage now… still lovin’ it.

On on a totally unrelated note… What kind of soy milk do you drink? Do you ever use almond milk? I don’t drink cow’s milk and just wondered! XOXO

    Hey Jenna,
Yummy cake. Regarding the spin shoes, you should go to a cycling shop. They’ll have the clip-in shoes you are looking for, and they really do make a difference for spin classes. They cause you to pull up more on the pedals. Great workout for the hamstrings! Otherwise, you’re mostly using your quads to push the pedals down. Hopefully, you’ll find a good sale as the shoes can get pretty pricey.

Chocolate + peppermint = can it possibly get any better? I think not. And that CAKE! oh yummmmm 😉
I’m sure it must have been very difficult to decide not to live with Ryan, especially since you have been looking forward to it. However, I think you made the right decision, and I think you two are going to have such a lovely future to look forward to 🙂

Wow – good for you for making such a tough decision! But, I’m sure you won’t regret it. I did not live with my boyfriend after college (he’s now my husband) for the same reason – it means more to get married when you get to move in together too! Just my opinion….good for you! And yummy splurges today – that pizza looks great!!

Jenna, speaking from experience, I think it is wise that you and Ryan have decided to put off living together. My husband and I didn’t live together for YEARS after we moved to Oregon from Texas although we did live together for two years before we got married (we waited a loooong time to get married though). Even though we lived in the same city, that time apart helped us grow individually and our relationship is definitely better for it. You have your whole life to be together so it’s worth it to spend the time with yourself. From your posts, it sounds like you’re having a wonderful holiday with your family. Enjoy what’s left!

    ooh that cake looks great!

you will probably have to go to a specialty bike shop to get shoes because cycling is a pretty unusual sport. i dont think mainstream sports stores are likely to carry them…
Glad you’re getting into spin though!

Looks like you are having a GREAT vacation. That pizza looks like my dad’s homemade…did your friends make it? I think it’s awesome that you and Ryan are waiting to live together until after you get married. That’s what I’m planning on doing when/if that time come and I think it will just make it that more special. Hey, you can still spend LOTS of time together being so close! 🙂

    Hi Jenna,

I really admire your decision not to live with Ryan. My now husband (gong on 2+ years!) and I never lived together until our wedding night. It was one of the best decisions we made! It’s pretty much the norm now to live together before marriage, but there’s something really sacred about waiting.

Hello! I mostly am a lurker, but enjoy your site lots. I usually have to have my eatliverun fix every day! 🙂 I was so glad to see that you and Ryan made the decision to wait to live together until after you are married. God’s ways really are the best for us, He’s not trying to spoil our fun, but will give us fullness of joy if we follow Him! Have a great rest of your holiday!

    Claire,

No—the pizza was actually from a total dive hole-in-the-wall place but was really really good!

    Polly,

Your kind comments always make me smile 🙂 Thank you! I use and LOVE Silk light vanilla soymilk….it’s amazing. I have tried almond milk before but it really didn’t do anything for me. I like silk because it has protein and other nutrients in it that almond milk doesn’t have.

What Tampa girl can live without Wright’s cake??? I could spot it anywhere. Have you had their Hummingbird cake? Amazing! I am from Tampa too and will be going to greenwise tomorrow to do some shopping before I head back to Gainesville for school in the evening. I love your blog and know how you feel when you are homesick for good ol’ T-town. I can’t get enough!!

P.S. I think maybe I remember you saying you like yoga? You should check out Yogani Studio when you are finally back in town. It’s right by Greenwise. It’s amazing! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
