Hi friends!
Hope everyone had a nice Sunday. I ended up getting totally sucked into Target but got some cute stuff for the house..and me. 😉 I seriously cannot go into Target and only buy one thing. Anyone?!
I DID spot this though and it made me grin!
Aww there I am! So fun. Naturally this article is now on my fridge. It’s like when you get an A on a test or something.
And then I found THIS at Costco (along with a mega sized jar of almond butter and bananas) and I shrieked out loud!
I must live under a rock because I honestly had no idea she was coming out with another book! I’ve read the entire series…have toted these 700 page books across the country of France, actually, because I can never put them down. So excited to read this!
I snacked on some crack TJ’s trail mix:
And then did a 75 minute dave farmar podcast in my tiny living room turned yoga studio. I’m on a roll.
Went for a 45 minute walk and then made a light dinner. My body naturally craves light food days after gluttonous days (like, err, yesterday). It works and balances me out. This dinner was super random and I may start to turn orange. (note hot ankle brace in picture below).
Leftover butternut squash, parsnips, the rest of the kobucha squash, 1/2 cup cottage cheese, some hummus and a piece of bread. That’s how I roll.
Tomorrow perhaps I should take a break from squash-plethora and eat a green vegetable…? Maybe? We’ll see.
Dessert was rest of the yogurt + handful of cinnamon puffins + some chocolate chips and agave:
I really need to get some furniture. Currently I eat all my meals while sitting on the floor. It’s all part of the “jenna gets back to her roots plan”.

October 18, 2009 at 8:01 pmTarget is dangerous like that!
I always find something I want when I go in there!
I love all the squash! I’m definitely going to try that soon!

October 18, 2009 at 8:19 pmTarget DEFINITELY sucks me in – I’ll wander around for hours (especially in the food section …) and my mom calls and asks why I’ve been getting gas for 2 hours. It’s fine.
Cynthia (It All Changes)
October 18, 2009 at 8:21 pmThe entire first two years I lived in my apartment I used the “couch” my landlord had used to stage it. It was a wicker porch couch that was not comfortable to lay on 🙂
Some days are green veggie-less and it tastes so good. I love that you added hummus on top of that all. Sometimes messy foods are the best.

October 18, 2009 at 8:22 pmI’ve never met anyone who could walk into Target and only buy what they’d planned to buy. I don’t think it’s physically possible.
Congrats on the magazine feature! Very cool. 🙂

October 18, 2009 at 8:22 pmCongratulations on the article, Jenna! How exciting! I would absolutely put that on the fridge if I were you 🙂

October 18, 2009 at 8:23 pmTarget is absolutely addictive. Even if I tell myself I only need a few things, somehow I get sucked into buying that trail mix and a pack of tshirts and granola bars…I walk out with a few bags and don’t know what hit me 🙂
Love your yoga+walking workout. How relaxing!

October 18, 2009 at 8:35 pmah! jamie and claire! i am in the middle or rereading the series before i get to ‘an echo in the bone’. right now i’m nearing the end of ‘dragonfly in amber’ and alternately throwing the book down in rage, crying or slapping my palm to my forehead. those books affect me so much! glad to know another reader… 🙂 my husband and i are actually reading outlander outloud…after all of these years of my rereading it and talking about it he finally decided that he wanted to know what the fuss was about. enjoy ‘echo’ and let us know what you think!
Kailey (SnackFace)
October 18, 2009 at 8:43 pmI don’t even know what this series is, but you are making me want to read it!
Awww! I’d squeal if I saw myself in a mag! That is so awesome!

Amber from Girl with the Red Hair
October 18, 2009 at 9:15 pmI ADORED the Outlander series as well – all the way up to the fifth book (red one) I just CANNOT get through it!! I don’t know if I overdosed on them or what, but I should just start reading it again and force myself to finish it!
I did buy that book for my mom as soon as I saw it though, she’s the one who got me into the books in the first place by telling me that once I read the books I would want a man like Jamie – she was right!!

October 18, 2009 at 9:23 pmTarget is amazing…and yeah I cannot walk out of that store with at least something!! Usually it’s something I didn’t even know I “needed”… haha

October 18, 2009 at 9:39 pmI am totally on your locavore bandwagon then. I recently wrote a post where I ranted on about how one person can help or hurt the economy. Usually I’m not so political, and it’s a long story. Anyways, I’ve made myself even MORE mindful now about what I buy. Good stuff!

October 18, 2009 at 9:51 pmI spy my favorite trail mix!! Jealous girl. Once I set foot back on american soil, I’ll be running for trader joes!

October 18, 2009 at 10:22 pmHi Jenna!
I havne’t read that series, but my friend does, and I was with her when she spotted that book in the store. She also totally shrieked and did a little dance because she didn’t know there was going to be another book. She then went into a long rant about how great they are, and proceeded to tell me all about them. LOL So you’re not the only one who didn’t know about it!
Congrats on the article! 🙂

October 18, 2009 at 10:27 pmCongrats on the SELF feature! Love that Ange from OhSheGlows.com is right on the same page 😀 You guys rock.
I only go to Target if I 1. Have some super great coupons / sales paired up and/or 2. Have at least $50 to throw into the wind. That place is dangerous!

October 19, 2009 at 3:45 amOh my gosh Jenna!
I have been reading your blog for quite a while but have never commented before, but when you mentioned the outlander series…..! These books have gotten me through study, and I too lugged them overseas 😉 I’m pacing myself and am only about 1/4 of the way through Echo, because apparently it takes her around 3 years to write a book in the outlander series.
I’ve actually got to go and finish an essay now, so I’ll definately be reading a bit of Echo later tonight, I’ll need it!
Love the blog by the way.

October 19, 2009 at 3:45 amoh and congratulations on the article!

October 19, 2009 at 5:22 amYou could probably find a $20 card table at Bed Bath & Beyond or something. I also know my friend got a super cute white & metal square kitchen table for about $20 from Ikea with accompanying 2 chairs for maybe $15/ea?? worth checking out.

October 19, 2009 at 5:34 amI love Dave Farmar podcasts! He is so funny. The first one I ever listened to he instructed to “breathe like Darth Vader.” lmao

October 19, 2009 at 6:22 amAhh…the Outlander series. I just finished Voyager (the 3rd book) earlier this year and am taking a break after reading the first 3 books pretty much back to back to back. Gotta love Jamie & Claire though I can’t wait to read their next adventure. Enjoy “Echo”.

October 19, 2009 at 7:02 amI love Target. My boyfriend and I have been known to take Friday night dates there…
I’ve never thought of mixing hummus with cottage cheese – I’ll have to think about that one. 🙂
Laura
October 19, 2009 at 7:32 amAnother Outlander fan here! I’m about 2/3’s of the way through “Echo” and while I could do without the Lord John parts, the rest is great, especially the Jamie/Claire/Young Ian stuff.
Hmm…hummus and cottage cheese are two of my favorite things, but I don’t know about mixing them…

October 19, 2009 at 7:44 amCongrats on the article Jenna! Make sure you laminate it! And try freecycle.com for things you need for the new place! Just post a “wanted” item and see if there is someone getting rid of one! Or just read the “offers” and see if there is anything you are interested in!
Now you have me wanting to read the series….I’ll have to hit up the library!

October 19, 2009 at 8:32 amCongratulations on being published in a magazine!! That is definitely a future goal that someday I would like to accomplish too 🙂

October 19, 2009 at 9:49 amToo funny that you found ‘Echo in the Bone’ this weekend! I LOVE the Outlander books, and just went to a meet & greet with Diana Gabaldon – she’s hilarious! Totally witty and clever. I completely dorked out and got her to sign my book 🙂

October 19, 2009 at 2:43 pmJenna,
I made an extra trip to Target today just to buy Self Magazine — I am a dedicated fan : )
Are you ever going to share with us what your special trip to NYC was all about???
Ingrid
October 19, 2009 at 5:30 pmOh my gosh, my mom sent me the Outlander series when I was deployed to Kuwait 2 years ago. It helped me survive that year, Jamie and Claire were my escape! When I got home and then found out I was pregnant, then found out I was having a boy, I had to name him Jamie! I LOVE those books and I am pacing myself through Echo. Since you are such an avid reader (me too) you should look into getting a Sony book reader or a Kindle. I love my sony, my hubby gave it to me for Christmas. You can download books from the library for it or buy them online. It holds tons, so you always have your faves with you when you travel. :o) Congrats on your Self shout out!

October 19, 2009 at 5:32 pmp.s. you might turn orange from all that squash… my son did get an orangish hue when he all he would eat were baby carrots, sweet potatoes and squash when he was little!

October 20, 2009 at 5:17 amMy first month in my apartment I used boxes of books as furniture. I hosted a dinner party that way – everyone sat on his/her own stack of books, and a bunch more were piled into a ‘table’ and covered with a sheet. Memorable, yes, but furniture is definitely a plus. I can’t believe there’s a new Outlander book! I must have been under the same rock as you – I thought she was done with them. I have no self restraint with those books: I will read every waking minute until I finish it. So going to try to wait for the holiday break…. Thanks for the heads’ up!
Vanessa @ Chic and Charming
October 22, 2009 at 11:50 amI received that issue of Self in the mail this week, and I just saw the page that you were on. I actually recognized a few other familiar blogging faces (like Angela @ Oh She Glows)… So awesome, Jenna!
