Breakfast

Summer Has Ended

Happy Monday!

Can you even believe this is the last week of August?! Today is the first day of school for all the local high schools here and I always get slightly nostalgic. Fall is my favorite season and I always loved that “back to school” feeling. Its no fun being a grown up. Sigh.

Breakfast was the same as yesterday—oatmeal made with soymilk, berries and peanut butter. This will probably be the breakfast of the week actually since I’m not in my own kitchen.

So, I was up for the majority of the night with a throbbing foot from my blister!!!! Seriously, it was like pulsing with pain and we were supposed to go on a 10 mile bike ride this morning but I still can’t put on my sneakers. I’m seriously regretting now running through the pain….this is what I get I guess for being so stubborn. I’ve done a little first aid mission though this morning and instead of lacing up my sneakers for cardio, I’m going to take a long beach walk instead. I feel like I need to take advantage of my surroundings while I’m here…don’t know when I’ll be back again!

Christie and I are starting our big “job” today at the cupcake store! We are going in from 1-5 this afternoon to learn the ropes on making frostings (they have 20 different flavors of frosting!), baking cupcakes and decorating wedding cakes. Should be very interesting and highly amusing. Lots of photos to come!!

Hi Jenna! I have been reading your blog for about a week now and finally decided to comment. We seem so much alike in regards to career paths (well, i want to get that certification you have…i can’t really bake 😉 ), our faith in God, and even down to our name, haha! Anyway, you seem really cool and I absolutely LOVE reading your blog!! Good luck this week!

I love the going-back-to-school feeling and miss the feeling of new beginnings with a new grade, new classes, new teachers & friends. It always makes me a bit restless this time of year!! It doesn’t help that my birthday’s right around the corner too! 😛

you’re pics are fine, but in case you don’t know you can only upload 200 photos to a free flickr account. They fill up fast! I was caught by surprise with that one.

I love fall too – its my favorite – but I also hate that we dont’ get to do the whole back to school thing anymore. And how on earth is August almost over already?? Didn’t this year just start?

Jealous of the cupcake “job”… how did you arrange that?

I know!! Where did August go!? Or the whole summer for that matter!? It’s so weird that it’s already back to school time. And yesterday in Target they had Halloween candy out!! I was like WHAT! Haha.

Sorry about the blister, those are the worst 🙁

Ouch! Blisters Suck! I have on one my foot and ran on it on Saturday…needless to say it got bigger because I didn’t cover it properly. So I understand you completely on the stubborness.

I also get the nostalgia for back-to-school. I think that’s one of the things I liked most about being a teacher was still having that back-to-school feel. Its not as fun when you have a year round job and your don’t have any kids.

    August 24, 2009 at 11:23 am

    hey jenna-
i was a gymnast and used to get rips on my hand and had to get them to heal quickly so here is a little tip:
tonight, take a black tea bag and steep it for a sec, you don’t need super hot water bc u don’t want it to burn your skin. squeeze it out, then stick it on your blister and cover it with a sock and sleep with it that way.

u want it to dry out, so dont keep covering it with neosporin and whatnot…

    hope that helps!

Yeah, I kind of miss the whole back-to-school thing, too… though a lot of my friends are teachers, and THEY don’t seem terribly excited about it.

20 flavors of frosting??? I can’t even imagine.
