Good Morning!
Ugh, not feeling good at all this morning. I’ve discussed this before with y’all but I get horrible chronic migraines…I’ve been getting them since I was really young and though today I definitely don’t get them as frequently as I used to (sometimes in college I would get one or two a WEEK), when they hit, they hit hard. I could feel one coming on last night when I was trying to fall asleep and then this morning it sort of feels like someone is stabbing me behind the eye. Awesome. Really.
Anyways, trying not to focus on it. I did have a wonderful breakfast!

Breakfast looks amazing and the avocate line sounds so interesting! I have super dry skin…might be something for me to try!
Sara
I hope you feel better soon. I woke up with a headache starting to emerge as well. Hoping it goes away so I can pound out a nice run later!
Ahh i hope your headache goes away soon! I’ve never had a migraine luckily but headaches are the worst. Hopefully that nutritious breakfast will help!! Craving a grapefruit now!
So sorry about the migraine!!! They are awful. Feel better dear!
Ahh, feel better Jenna. I get migraines too. I actually just got one on Saturday night when I was out with some girlfriend’s and I had to leave dinner early. I had to take the subway (i’m in NY) and I thought I was going to be sick. It sounds too simple, but the only thing that truly works for me is Excedrin and a very hot shower in the dark, followed by a heating pad on my head. For some reason heat works way better than cold for me. I’ve tried prescriptions but the Excedrin works way better! I’m sure you’ve tried it all if you’ve been suffering for so long, but maybe the heat will work for you as well.
Feel better girl!
Your breks looks great – I need to start eating grapefruit again at breakfast, so good. Hope your migraine feels better soon!
I hope your headache goes away. I used to get migraines all the time. I started taking B vitamins and Vitamin D religiously and have had maybe one in the past year. Hope you feel 100% better soon.
Sorry about yoru migraine I get them alot. The only think that works for me is ice pack on my head and Excedrine Migraine which I stock up when I go over the border b/c it usn’t available here in Canada only in the USA so go get some, it works. I have never toasted my banana bread, not sure why, I will have to try that!
Hope your head feels better girl! I have never had a migraine but my hubby gets them all the time. I feel for ya.
Aww hope your headache gets better!
Sorry to hear about your migraines — hope you start to feel better. Bfast looks great!
I’ve had migraines since I was about 12 as well and went through a phase of having them twice weekly. They do seem to lose their impact a bit as you get older. I am pleased to report at 35 I get them maybe five or six times a year now.
Feel better soon
migraines are the worst! I find that a dark nap with a lavender eye mask does wonders for my migraines.
Ohh that toasted banana bread/ab/jam combo sounds delicious!! Hope you’re feeling better soon!
Ouch, sorry about your migraine, hun! Hope it gets better throughout the day..
Sorry about the migraine
Hope you feel better soon.
sorry to hear about your migraine! – I am also a chronic sufferer and it is THE worst — people who’ve never had a migraine just don’t get it. (i.e. my Mister!)
hang in there
Aw, sorry you have a migraine. I’m surprised you made such a nice breakfast. When mine hit I can’t even open my eyes enough to find the kitchen. (I get auras, though, which make seeing kind of hard.) I hope yours goes away quickly. For prevention, a combination of magnesium, riboflavin, and feverfew are supposed to really help. I’ve never tried it since mine aren’t chronic. But this book I read, “What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Migraines: The Breakthrough Program That Can Help End Your Pain” by Alexander Mauskop and Barry Fox, talks all about it, in case you’re interested.
oh man, migraines are no fun. i’ve been waking up with headaches all week, but found that sleeping with a humidifier really helped. i’m not sure if it would help, but might be worth a try! hope that amazing breakfast will heal you right up
You seriously should check out my Dad’s CDs:

My wife used to get headaches like that all the time (at least once a week), and he helped her completely get over them. It has been years since she has had a migraine!
Oh dear, sorry to hear you’re feeling crummy
FIGHT THAT MIGRAINE! I’m rooting for you
Oohh banana bread…amaze
Oh dear… migraines are such a… pain (sorry!) I’m failing my degree because of my migraines causing such bad auras and partial paralysis. Not good ;( I’m sure you have, but have you tried eliminating the usual suspects- citrus, red wine, coffee, chocolate, cheese, artificial colourings/flavours before? Also, changes in the weather and stress doesn’t help, but when life is busy, life is busy! I hope your holiday over Easter helps your head get back on track! Feel better soon
hope the migraine goes away
Hope you’re feeling better soon!
I’m a fellow migraine-sufferer, they’re the worst.
Have you read “The Migraine Brain”? It’s really interesting and has helpful management advice. Also, have you tried using triptans? They are miracle drugs! Good luck.
awesome breakfast! I love grapefruit~
i love this giveaway. thank you!
I”ve never thought of toasting banana bread. I’ll have to try it!
Feel better
So sorry girl– hope the headache goes away soon
How do you toast the bread?? In a regular toaster or an oven??Any bread is good with AB.

eatmovelove,
In the toaster!
Feel better, my love! Also, just had to comment because for some reason that banana bread looks EXACTLY like steak. Lol. Wtf?
Oh, Migraines are the worst! I hope it goes away quickly. Keep up the great work with the fundraiser, I hope you are able to meet your goal soon
Oh no! I hope the migraine subsides. I get them fairly often (some last a day, but once every couple of months I get one that lasts three or four days) and they are SO draining. The only thing that works for mine is sumatriptan (Imitrex) as soon as I feel it coming on, and it nips it in the bud most of the time as long as I take it before it gets bad….
Eat well and get plenty of rest today!
Sorry about your migraine.
Hope you feel better soon!
You are such a migraine trooper! I get them as well and it’s the only time I turn into the biggest baby! I immediately go home, pop pills (which I normally never do) and go to sleep. It doesn’t matter what I’m doing, I go right home!
Thankfully I don’t get them nearly as much as I used to. Not sure if it’s a coincidence or not but they stopped being so frequent when I turned vegetarian. But, also, I started taking better care of myself around that time as well so it’s hard to pinpoint.
Hope you feel better!
You’re such a migraine trooper! I used to get them quite frequently and would be the biggest baby about them because they really terrified me. I don’t get them so much now but I get a bit panicky if I see a spot or two even if from the sun!
Hope you feel better!
ugh jenna. i literally feel your pain. i woke up with a horrendous migraine last night! awful awful. what do you do to prevent the horridness when you feel one coming? what do you take for relief when one hits? advil doens’t always work unless i take about 4. ugh. not fun. a cold cloth, closing my eyes a dark room and lots of advil is my go to.
Corinne,
I used to be on prescription migraine meds but they really made me feel awful so I stopped all of that and now when one hits I just take 2 excedrin migraine, 1 feverfew (an herb that helps constricted blood vessels) and use ice. It really works a whole lot better than the Rx!
Have you ever seen a doctor about your migraines? They have medication for it!
I hope your headache feels better! That sensation you described sounds dreadful. At least you had a wonderfully balanced and delicious breakfast to distract yourself away from the pain. Have you seen a specialist about these migraines?
Hi Jenna!
Often times migraines can be linked to sub-optimal magenisum levels. You may want to look into this yourself and think about taking a magnesium supplement. Low magnesium has many other symptoms you may come across when researching that you have also experienced, but never really thought were that serious. My whole family suffers from low magnesium, despite our healthy vegetarian diet, and we all take a magnesium supplement. My aunt used to get terrible migraines where she’d be sick, and now she doesn’t anymore. Humans Calcium: Magnesium ratio should be 2:1, however, many foods such as dairy have ratios up to 26:1, which can really throw off the balance. It’s definitely something that is worth looking into since you’ve suffered for so many years! Also, hydration is key- and not just water. You should try drinking some diluted gatorade- always very helpful, to give you some of the necessary electrolytes, without the full amount of sugar.
Take care,
Lauren
I have to pick up some Crofters jam…i hear its good and i see it everywhere… good luck with the migraine…not fun.
oh i hate migraines! i used to get REALLY bad ones as a kid too and now i just get them occassionally. awful nonetheless. you get a hangover when they are over too so it takes like 2 days to recover
Hey!
Migraine sufferer over here!!! I started getting them about 5 years ago when I was in college and I thought my life was over. I had about 1-2 per week and I felt like my quaility of life was severely decreased. I finally did some research and found a fantastic neurologist that specializes in migraine treatment. After experimenting with a few medications I found two that work wonders. Now I get about 1 per month (if that lately). Stop by my blog if you ever want to talk about what you can do when you have one or the medications that work for me. Sadly I have a lot of experience in this area!
Hope u feel better

Sorry about the constant migraines… Try and not focus on it and feel better soon!
feel better! my hubby gets migraines and always puts a heat pack on his head.
I’ve had an awful headache all day too! hope your migrane goes away quickly!
Hope your headache feels better soon!
Hope you feel better soon!!
Jenna do you know what your migraine triggers are? Maybe you should start a list of things you ate/weather/stress around the time you get migraines…maybe you can adjust something to decrease the occurrence!
Hello,
maybe you should see if you are allergic to dairy or wheat or gluten? It could be interesting to see how certain foods affect you. Hope it works out!
That’s awful.
I have migraines non-stop, too, but result of an accident, so at least know why. Have you maybe experimented with a gluten free diet for awhile? I understand that helps some.
While am thinking of it–if haven’t left for France by then. Might want to make a run to Santa Barbara before leave the Golden State. Used to live there–it’s heaven. Did a post so addresses/sites if decide to go: http://tinyurl.com/oe4ezq
Hope the migraine disappears–soon!
I hope your headache gets better!
I hope your headache gets better!
Gluten free diets have had effects on positively influencing migraines (credibility:I’m a dietetic intern).
Did you make the banana bread?
Good luck with getting rid of that headache. I don’t get them very often (very lucky!) but when I do they are really debilitating for me. :\
Avocado in my belly and on my skin. Great looking products!

What a yummy breakfast — great mix of flavors and tastes.
Hi Jenna! I hope by now your feeling much better. I just recently started taking an herbal product for migraines (Migrelief). It contains riboflavin, magnesium and feverfew which others have mentioned here. It may be too early to tell if it is working for me since they say it takes a few weeks to kick in, but so far so good. I figured they were worth a shot before I went with 2 prescribed meds by a neurologist.
Jenna- Have you gotten an MRI? I’m not trying to be sensational…it’s just that this hits VERY close to home. 3 weeks ago my best friend went blind. He had been having migraines similar to yours for years and the doctors never figured out what it was. Then, his eyesight went and we was sent to an ophthalmologist who determined his optic nerve had been fried. They sent him to the hospital immediately where an MRI showed a grapefruit-sized tumor in his brain. It was removed and turns out he has Stage IV brain cancer…and will never regain his vision. I say this not to scare you (lots of people get migraines) but because when I hear that people are having these types of headaches now I feel compelled to encourage getting MRI’s. Get yourself checked out, girl!
Awww I hope the migraine went away! Sounds awful. Feel better!
I’m so sorry about the migraines. I totally feel you. Have you ever tried cutting out dairy? That helped me ALOT. When I was young I used to get them once and sometimes twice a week at times and it was like hell. I don’t even remember a big part of my life because of them.
Get better! I’ll be praying for you.
When I first saw the picture, I totally thought your piece of banana bread was a filet mignon. Clearly you’re not the only one not functioning perfectly this morning. Hope your migraine goes away ASAP!
Hi Jenna! How have you been? I’m so sorry to hear about your headache! I love to eat avacados so slathering them on my skin sounds great. Thanks for the info.
Veronica
Just coming off of a migraine myself. I think it may be the change in weather. Meds don’t work for me, but, some things to try that usually relieve me a little- eating jalapenos, eating peppermints, and sleeping on a heating pad.
Just got 4 tickets! What a great giveaway – I’m keeping my fingers crossed because I’ve been wanting to try this since your last post about it.
(Hope you’re feeling better!)
ugh, i HATE migranes!!!!! i have been getting migranes since 2nd grade, although i don’t get them as much now. mine also feel like a pounding under my right eye, not so nice. i’ve noticed that i tend to get migranes when i’m stressed, anyone else find that to be true? i can always tell when i’m going to get a migrane cuz i’ll get tiny headaches throughout the day leading up to the main event.
i get migraines too and this is what i started taking http://www.newchapter.com/products/headache-take-care
i looooove it!!! i can tell if a headache is going to turn into a migraine and when i get that feeling, i take these pills. sometimes they get rid of the headache and sometimes they bring a migraine back down to headache. you can find them at whole foods or a health store. good luck! btw – i love reading your blog!
