When I saw this look on the Anthropologie website I immediately loved it. Kelly green is one of my very favorite colors and I loved how bright and fun this outfit was. However, I wasn’t about to drop over a hundred bucks on a pair of green jeans right now. Or ever.
So when I found a pair of kelly green skinny jeans at a consignment store in town that fit perfectly, I immediately grabbed them! Spending twenty dollars on a “trendy” fashion item you love is way better than spending a hundred! Plus, these jeans are soooo comfy and I know that I’ll wear them all Fall with knee high boots and a blazer.
Initially, I was sort of worried I looked like an elf pairing my green jeans with red heels but oh well. Red heels are always necessary. Even if you look like an elf in July! I wore this outfit to book club and a pizza dinner with Adam last week.
What else would you wear with green jeans other than a plain white shirt?

Major score!!! I am so in love with those Anthro jeans but like you they are way out of my budget for green jeans! Your find looks fabulous on you though. I used to have a pair of kelly green pants and I go SO many compliments on them. Hope I can find a cheaper pair too!
As for other ideas of what to wear – I’d just play around with different tops. I was amazed at how many colors looked great with my green pants. In a way, green is almost like a neutral. If you think about it, green is the backdrop to everything in nature – so most colors end up looking pretty good with it!

you have to be in the right mindset and be willing to DIG. I’ve been on a lucky streak there lately but it really is all about luck and going on the right day (when they get new stuff).
What exactly is a “Consignment store” – anybody?? I don’t shop often for several reasons (a.k.a dollar bills).
Jenna – I don’t think you’ll ever leave CA – clearly you look the part of the typical CA girl!
A consignment store is a place where people drop off their new of gently used clothes/shoes/purses that they no longer wear or like. Then the consignment store sells them, and if they are bought, the person who donated them gets a cut of the profit. They are similar to Thrift stores, but are often “higher end.” Typically consignment shops like name-brand merchandise etc. Also, some consignment stores will only sell items that STILL have the tags on them or have clearly only been worn once. They want items that are as “New” as possible. It just all depends!

i would probably wear any shade of purple, because i LOVE the pairing of green and purple. obsessed with it. or i might go with light grey if i wanted to wear some colorful accessories. that’s such a gorgeous picture of you- you look great!
i think blue or purple go well with green. of course, black and brown go with any color. i think i’m going to leave the brightly colored jeans in my elementary school past, though. just don’t dig ‘em.

Yes, MAJOR score with those jeans! I love love love yellow and red combos… I think the color of your top and the red shoes really pulled it together. A plain white shirt would be awesome with those jeans but I myself wouldn’t wear the red shoes with them I would wear black heels I think.

I really like this! Would never think of it, but I like it. I’m jealous of your ability to find pants that fit in places like that–I’m so short nothing ever fits unless it’s labeled “petite”–even then sometimes it’s a no go, haha. Do you think I can grow a couple inches at 30? You never know.

NAILED it! I have been hesitant about the drapey, loose, off-the-shoulder type tops out there. I found one at a consignment shop the other day for maybe $4, and wore it to work. I didn’t look nearly as Flashdance as I imagined! I felt more eccentric-sophisticate!

Think of the colors green occurs with in nature, and how well it goes with them. It would go beautifully with pinks and purples, and is less striking with blues. If you didn’t want to go down the crazy-bold-color route, do like you would in a living room: pick a neutral base color and add colored accents, like a cream top an orange pattern or orange bangles.
Question from a foreigner: what is a consignment store? Is it a second-hand store, or a TJ Maxx type place?
It’s a second hand store- but people get paid for their items that they bring in to sell, based on a percentage of what the item sells for.
I have been wearing nothing bu stretchy pants, yoga pants, sweats and maxi dress all year so far. I have worn jeans maybe 5 times. Those green jeans are calling my name and telling me to wear them. Must check out the Goodwill, Salvation Army or other consignment stores around here

Absolutely love those shoes!! They actually go really well with the pants. Not costumey at all. Definitely try other shades of yellow with the pants. That would compliment the color well. Maybe some pink if you’re not too afraid of the watermelon effect. And browns–you can see from the Anthro pic that certain browns are a good choice.
I think a purple tank would be cute with those pants! Also, maybe play with bright shades of yellow? Black tank and simple sandles/flats would be cute, too.

i got the green pants and bag at Simply Chic, which is a consignment store not a thrift store (prices are higher). But I also love goodwill and salvation army in santa rosa as well!

I’d probably *try* pink, as to blend with the red shoes (since it seems that you were pretty sold on wearin’ em)…but with fear of looking like a watermelon, I would probably consider a navy blue…a neutral, but with zing. Plus, unlike black and red which can read either dated, racey, or just cheap (though can also be done extremely well) I think a navy exudes sophistication. Yellow pumps with a navy shirt and those green jeans would be amazing…. ugh, *swoon*. GREAT FIND!

I usually wear darker green (like hunter green or olive) but I pair my green shorts with either black, brown or grey tops, and quite often lavender and burgundy shades.

Navy blue! I love navy blue with kelly green. Maybe maroon or something with maroon in it? Black? ( I know, not really a color). Pink might start looking a little too preppy, but what about a neautral shirt with a pop of either pink or orange?

I read Good Housekeeping at the gym this morning and remembered reading this post last week. There was an article regarding the comeback of colored jeans and they illustrated this by showing four different pairs ranging in price from $78 to $200+. You got a steal!

The green jeans are super cute on you! I’d try pairing them with a heather gray T-shirt or anything in white or pastel. The only color I never really mix green with is black (and this is hard for me, considering that I love black and typically think it goes with anything!)
