Breakfast

The Magic Hour

Happy Monday!

This morning I had an old classic! 🙂

IMG_3450

The best way to start a morning: almond butter, jam, banana and kashi waffles. I need to eat more of these waffle sandwiches; they make me smile.

They also are really good pre-running fuel and I’m about to go on a little 2 mile jaunt along the Bay right now actually. Was going to go before breakfast but morning is my best time to get writing done so I got up around 6:30 and worked for about an hour before getting in my running clothes. I’ve ALWAYS been a morning person…howabout you? When I was in writing workshops in college, I would always wake up super early and write my short stories. I just can’t get anything productive done at night and my mind is sharpest first thing (coffee or not!). I think we all have “that hour” when we are most productive during the day. I love nothing more than waking up early, eating breakfast and writing with a good cup of coffee or tea in my hand.

I’m exactly like you! I LOVE waking up early! I’m in University right now and all my classes start at either 9:30, 11:30 or 12:30, but I still always get up at 6:30 or 7:00. Mornings are the best time of the day!

Have an awesome day Jenna! 🙂

That breakfast waffle creation looks like some sort of Big Mac for breakfast foods…it’s giant! Looks delish and I bet it was a huge mess to eat 🙂

I am a morning person too! I don’t like oversleeping, I like when I wake up early, make myself some nice breakfast and a coffee, eat and read news and blogs. After that routine, I can start my day, start studying and working.
    Have a nice day!

Morning is definitely my time of day as well. The world is calm and my mind is clear. Why would anyone sleep in?!

I am definitely a morning person. My husband refers to me as a rooster. Unfortunately part of the reason is because I feel guilty staying in bed and should be up and about doing something productive. But there is also something about that quiet time when you can either get things done, or just focus on being quiet to start the day. My long runs are almost always an early morning thing – there’s just enough going on at that time to keep the run interesting 🙂 Hope you’re run went well!

I could not agree with you more. The morning is my time to focus. Running does get in the way sometimes because I enjoy running first thing in the morning but while I’m at school my work takes over my running.

That sandwich looks great. Does it keep you full for long?

Yup, I hear you on the morning thing. Sometimes I have so much get up and go in the morning I feel as though I can do anything. That feeling is usually gone before noon, though!

Oh morning is definitely not my strongest hour! But I’m okay if I can get myself up and going, but more often than not I just want to crawl back underneath the covers. I can get a lot done at night, though. Always have been a night owl. J, however, is totally able to hop out of bed at 5 a.m. and go to work!

I was never a morning person. When I taught and had to leave the house at 10 to 7 I would wake up at 20 til and throw on the clothes I had laid out. I was the master of the night before shower and out the door quick. Those last 5 minutes of sleep were perfect. I would always lay in bed hoping for a snow day even in May. I loved teaching but always wished school started at 10AM. My students agreed 🙂

I am a morning person for sure. I am studying for my personal training certification right now, and I have to do my daily studying in the morning after breakfast or I won’t be able to do it! Both my parents were teachers, so we have always had an early start to our days. My hubby is def. more of a night owl which can be a challenge for us, but we make it work.
    Good luck on your run!

I function SO much better in the morning than at night. I was always writing my short stories first thing in the morning in college, too. (Were you a Creative Writing major?) Now, being that I have a job, I sort of have to write my stories at night, or during lunch, or when work is slow…not ideal, but once I find a way to make money just by writing what I want to write, this will no longer be an issue!

Good luck with your run 🙂

I am so not a morning person, hence why I always say I am going to workout in the morning and never actually do! I would love to learn how to become a morning person, but I will just have to stay grumpy for now, lol. At least I can make it up and to work on time! Hope you have a great day!

I always feel the most clear-headed in the morning, too; I think it’s because I haven’t had any new distractions from my day yet.

I’ve always WANTED to be a morning person, and I do well if it’s a regular schedule thing, but I just don’t do it on my own. Even if I set an alarm for 7 on weekends, I’ll roll over and sleep until 10. I just can’t give up a few late mornings a week!

I agree! I’m definitely a morning person. I’ve been getting up and going to the YMCA by 4:55 am for several years now (over 5!)! Now, our little running group meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:30 am to get in an extra couple of miles. Our big Fort 4 Fit half marathon is in less than 2 weeks! We’re ready! Congrats on your long run and speed workout today! I agree…speed is key!
