The Salad Monster

Ahh this morning was soooo nice. After blogging I actually jumped back in bed and fell asleep again until 9:30! I felt like I needed every second of that extra sleep. It felt amazing.

When I got up again I made some English Breakfast tea, relaxed a bit, then went outside on a run. I ran for about 35 minutes, walking the last 10 minutes for a cool down. It was nice because even though it was 10:45, it was overcast outside and there was a nice breeze off the water.

When I got back, I snacked on a pear and got ready:

After showering and everything, Ryan and I ventured out for lunch. We went to this Greek cafe down the street and I had a MONSTER of a greek salad!

This was just the “greek chopped for one” with no potato salad and the dressing on the side. The woman looked at me like I was crazy when I ordered it. She was like, you will NEVER be able to finish it! She told me to order the “baby greek chopped” instead. Oh no…I don’t do baby salads. I needed the real deal! I proved her wrong and basically finished the entire thing!

The salad came with two slices of delicious french bread with a pesto olive oil for dipping. French bread is one of those few things that I absolutely cannot say no to. I love me some soft chewy french bread!

I’m about to go lay by the pool and study my wine flashcards. See you tonight!

Yum! I don’t like that females are expected to have small appetites even for things like salad so I like your example of ordering the large size salad. I used to have an eating disorder and a lot of the time I still feel self conscious ordering/eating food, and I actually try to think of your examples eating out when I do feel self conscious.
And I LOVE Greek salad. What is on top of it in the first picture?

That looks like a Cheesecake Factory sized salad! French bread is good, but I feel that way more about sourdough bread! (also from CF, apparently I’m having a craving!)

Ellie, I couldn’t agree more. I almost always finish everything on my plate when I eat out. First of all, it’s always something incredibly healthy like a salad or vegetables, but still I sometimes get comments from waiters like “wow- you must have been hungry” and it makes me really mad/self-conscious! Yeah, I was hungry and I ate a satisfying meal. I also exercise a ton and eat ridiculously healthy, so who cares that I eat voluminous food?!

Thank you for the great example Jenna! Three cheers to eating what you pay for!

I still don’t know a good user name! haha. The yogurt comment prompted me to recommend that you try Berryism on South Dale Mabry…I went there the other night and LOVED it. I haven’t been to Cali Yogurt (and maybe they are similar,) but the Berryism product has definitely sucked me in! Super tart frozen yogurt in plain, green tea, or wildberry, 90 calories/5 oz, and lots of toppings (cereals; fruits like berries, kiwi, and mango; Korean rice cakes; chocolate chips; or my husband’s choice, gummy bears (which I do NOT recommend, ick.) Is Cali Yogurt the tart stuff? If so, I’m definitely checking it out…
