These Boots Were Made For Walkin’

Whew! I am EXHAUSTED.

But look, I have full length mirrors!

And a mountain of shoes!

IMG_7392
Shoes were clearly the first priority in the move.
This morning I packed up my car and then proceeded to lug all my worldly belongings up three flights of stairs. Elevators? What are those? At least I got a workout out of it!
I ate my packed lunch while at the studio earlier—

IMG_0360
Another really, really big grapefruit and an english muffin with peanut butter. Someday my food will be exciting again…I promise!
After dragging all those heavy suitcases, I needed some protein.

IMG_7398
Why do I feel like a man when I snack on turkey breast?
Don’t answer that.
Many times today I’ve been reminded to slow down. I like to live my life in the fast lane. I’ll be the first to admit. I thrive off busy schedules, moving, trips, events….yada yada yada. Today at a few different points I just had to remind myself to take a deep breath and relax a little. I don’t have to completely move everything in one afternoon. I don’t have to accept every opportunity (however cool it may be!) that comes my way. I don’t have to be there for everyone all the time. I can take a nap.
I feel better now.
What I DO need to do is take a shower and put my laundry in the drier. One thing at a time, friends. One thing at a time.

Haha. I also feel like a man when I snack on any kind of deli meat. I think it just’s because we’re eating MEAT alone without any other sides to gussy it up. Do condiments somehow make meat more “feminine”? Hmmm….

Hooray for full length mirrors! Never realized how necessary they were until I lived in a house that didn’t have a single one and spent half my mornings hopping on and off chairs to try to see how my shoes looked with my skirt/pants! It doesn’t really work BTW 😉

Waves of empathy flowing your way – I think I’ve moved about twenty times (low estimate) since college. I just turned 28, and despite the whole “adult” thing, I’m still resisting the acquisition of furniture – wandering tendencies and mattresses do not good friends make 🙂
Enjoy the new place (and even though I profess to have sworn off furniture, I’m secretly jealous of your vintage-looking couch!)

Do you have a washer and dryer? You have internet I guess LOL!
So right about not having to do everything at once…every time I moved I would get so overwhelmed because I had like nothing and only myself to do it…I had to tell myself, “so what if I sleep on the floor for a week”, get it one chair at a time…just make sure you got toilet paper…;)

BTW Diane Sawyer didn’t own furniture till she married Mike Nichols in 1988 at age 43. She owned her NYC apt but had a mattress on the floor. Said was never interested in home decor until married and learned from hubs who loved design.

YAY for full length mirrors! My gosh I dont even remember the last time I had one! ha. Now you can see all those slammin’ hot shoes in the mirror 😉 One task at a time, one day at a time, one.at.a.time! It WILL all get done! Try to incorporate a new way of doing each task and you will be surprised how much you ENJOY doing it and how non frantic you will be IN THAT MOMENT. Also, I bet you won’t think about whats next on your list. 🙂
