Bake some chocolate chip cookies for your cute neighbor (or boyfriend, or husband, or kids, or grandpa or…yourself!). If nothing else, it will make your house smell amazing!
You should also make a fun pink cocktail and go dancing. Even if it’s just in your living room.
Maybe tomorrow night, make a fresh dinner with veggies from the farmer’s market…
[finish dinner off with a cookie]
And on Sunday, take a hour walk outside. If you’re not snowed in, that is. If you are snowed in, make these instead:
And don’t forget to read! Always read.
Happy Friday, friends!

I want to do it all! Can i make the brownies even if I’m not snowed in?
duh.
I adore those brownies.
I want a COOKIE.
Happy Friday!!
Love this! And conveniently I have a very cute neighbour
Just made Banana-Choco-Chip Mookies (cross b/w a muffin and cookie) – but they are nothing compared to that first picture.
So now I will go make those. And I forsee the brownie in ice cream…
Darn you (in a good way…;) )
I will definitely bake on your recommendation
I hope that you’ll have a wonderful weekend too!
Well… if you insist!
That made me really want a cookie!! Happy Friday!!
Ooh! I just recently read that book. It was one I stayed up way too late for a couple of nights. Loved it!
good! I actually haven’t started it yet but I’m about to tonight!
Happy Friday! I want those brownies.
Yep, I’m snowed in. And like you (I think) my only form of cardio is typically a very short, leisure walk outside. And even thats impossible. Oh well, just gives me an extra 30 minutes to eat and sleep
a walk is a walk! Better a short one than none at all
One short walk for 365 days/year. Repeat. I am a very short walker. I guess you’re right, its something. Even if it is my only thing everyday for a long, long time.
i agree…reading is a top priority for this girl over the weekend! well, that and baking cookies…obviously.
I think it’s almost time for a pink cocktail right now.
I wish it was almost time for one here…except it’s only 1:00 and I’m not supposed to be drinking for 40 days. #fail
Sounds like the makings of a beautiful weekend! Those cookies are so tempting.
Tomorrow is my birthday so I’m celebrating all weekend and THIS is exactly how I want to spend my time. Love it.
happy birthday!
I only WISH I could bake these things this weekend!!
Oh boy–should I ever!
I love your advice, especially when that advice involves cookies and books. My book list just keeps getting longer and longer!
those brownies look amazing!!! im pretty sure i should stay in all weekend and eat those..
Ah…I still need to make those brownies! They’re on my mental to-do list.
you should probably scratch off everything else on your to-do list and just go bake these brownies…just sayin!
I’d love to do all those things! Maybe i’ll start on the cute pink cocktail first
followed by the veggies! <3
I love your blog. It always makes me smile. Thanks for the wonderful suggestions…especially the cookies.
thank YOU!
That is pretty much my weekend plan but with a little football thrown in on Sunday.
This weekend you should fly to the east coast and visit me so we can do all these things. We can even listen to the Little Women soundtrack, read excerpts from Little House, wear pajamas all day, and constantly refill our wine glasses. Just sayin’…
sounds AMAZING!
I just started that book about 2 days ago and can’t put it down! Off to go make some cookies. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks for the weekend suggestions. Cookies are definitely on my list!
So what’s in that pretty pink cocktail?? Would love to make it…
creme de cassis and champagne with a blackberry!
Cookies and a hike are on my list of things to do. Enjoy your weekend!
I love this post! Sounds like a plan
Happy Friday!
Any advice on “recipes” for pretty pink cocktails?! I think I would like one, today! Perfect relaxing treat after skiing in Montana powder all morning!
One of my new favorite things about your blog is that you show us what you’re reading! Have you considered reviewing any of the books on your blog? Are you on goodreads.com?
I’ve made the brownies before, like the weekend after you posted them… I think it’s about time I make them again!!! And I’m not even snowed in!
The cookies.
The brownies.
The pink drink w/ a blackberry!
Oh…I want it ALL!
Enjoy your weekend, Jenna!
here here to pink cocktails and dancing in your living room. I may even make it more of a workout and turn on the pussycat dolls workout DVD haha : )
Mmm – it’s been a while since I’ve made CChip cookies from scratch…might be time to…
will do! this is how every weekend should be, eh!?
Veggies from the market, a hike out in the South Bay and curling up with a good book is on the agenda this weekend. Perhaps the cookies could make an appearance too.
I’m so bookmarking this page so I can always look at that chewy gooey cookie!!
YES ! Sounds like a perfect weekend!!
As a side note… the best place to make a friend a gift basket is def World Market .. love that place!!
Wonderful ideas!! I plan on working on the cocktail as soon as my husband gets home.
Have a lovely weekend, Jenna!
Jenna,
I JUST started that book! It came highly recommended, so I can’t wait to get into it. Have you read Love Walked In (by Marisa De Los Santos) or The Gurnsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society? I recently read and LOVED both!
Happy weekend!
What a fabulous Friday post, hehe… Enjoy your weekend Jenna!
Crazy you should mention it. I just did make Chocolate Chip cookies. I’m really loving Malibu and Dt. Cherry 7-up (it’s pink) but there are NO open farmers markets in MN during the winter. This morning we started out at -28 and climbed to -1, so I think I will be making the smores brownies!
I LOVE this weekend plan!!!
What a joyful note on which to start the weekend! This freezing , snowy weekend is designated for cooking and reading for sure!
Have a cozy one, Jenna!
Cookies are on my agenda this weekend for sure!
Hi Jenna~
I Loved “The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet”! Have you finished it yet? I’d be curious what you thought. It’s one of my favorites that I read in 2010. Have a great weekend!
Fran
Those brownies are too good to be true!
I *adore* this post. Happy Friday!
Such a cute post! Makes me so excited for the remaining 90 minutes of my workday to be over so I can KICK BACK! Your photos are so gorgeous.
Good plans! I think I’ll do those. Especially the chocolate chip cookies idea.
I love your posts like this!! I know I definitely plan on doing some baking this weekend
This sounds like the recipe for the perfect weekend. I love having the time to cook, bake and read!
I’m def going to make some chocolate chip cookies. Sounds amazing right now.
I need to go shopping for most of the ingredients for those snowed in recipes, lol. What do you think of Hotel On the Corner Of….??? I was thinking of downloading it but I’m still making my way thru some real (as in, hand held) books so it’s on the backburner. You need to read Trudy’s Promise…I think you’d love it. It made me cry in a good way.
what a good weekend plan… .i’ll do it all in between running 12 miles, getting a new kitchen table (well, a new-to-me kitchen table), and making 100+ cheesecake cupcakes. seriously.
I loved this post! If only I had the time, or made the time, to do all that. Sounds like a pretty amazing weekend, indeed.
Especially after the day I’ve had today.
Happy Friday! Thanks for those weekend tips – they look great!
This weekend you should see Sarah’s Key if you can find it near you. It was such an excellent adaptation of the book, and I remember that you liked the book. It just came to Australia (where I am), so it’s probably in wider release in California. Enjoy (if you do see it!).
Haha, it’s -10 here right now so I like the idea of dancing in the living room and making S’more Brownies instead of hiking!
Jenna-
I have a post request for you –
I am currently a college student trying to eat a little healthier but have a VERY VERY limited budget. I have struggled with disordered eating and finally have made a promise to myself to get my eating under control and get back to a healthy normal. Do you have any quick/cheap recipe ideas for lunch/dinner?
Thanks and keep up the good work!
Hmmm… Those are all excellent ideas! I am making a four layer cake tomorrow simply because I want to! Hahaha. Aren’t those the best kinds? I love “just because” cakes!
Have a GREAT weekend!
I could go for a pretty cocktail for sure!
Thank you so much for this post. I received not so very good family news this evening. I am grateful for all of the small things we can do to add a bit of fun to our lives, even if things are going rough!! Thank you for the sweet reminders!!
From the looks of this itinerary, we’d make great friends! Hope you have a great weekend Jenna!
I can taste cookie dough every time I see that picture. Beautiful photography, Jenna!
I feel confident that I can achieve all of those things.
Any advice for someone who is not a writer but wants to be better?
keep writing!! Set aside 30 minutes a day where you just journal. And read, read, read!
That cocktail looks so refreshing! Makes me crave summer!
I feel so fortunate {as I’m sure you do as well} to be experiencing ‘spring like’ weather here in northern CA. Definitely an outside day for us on the farm:) Enjoy your weekend Jenna:)
I know! Where did this sun come from?! And almost 70 degrees today?? Love!
I just finished reading that book! I loved it!!!!
Hi! Those chocolate chip cookies look A-MAZ-ING! I must make them. I just found your blog last week via The Pioneer Woman. I have to say that I love your writing voice, your photography and your food!
I made your curried butternut lentil soup the other day….mmmmm nice. My hubby loved it.
I love making cookies most of all…have been baking since I was 10.
I love healthy eating.
I love hiking at Mt. Rainer.
I love pretty cocktails and dancing in my living room.
I love staying in when it is yucky out.
And I love reading, and I read Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet.
So, thanks for the post. You made me smile!
Stephanie
Definitely just made the brownies with my mom…already half of the pan is gone thanks to the boys in my family.! SUCH a good recipe…you never let me down girlfriend!
Lovely pictures!!
The second picture looks sinful… no need to waste that goodness by baking it.
Hi Jenna! I made your chocolate chip cookies last night, and they were absolutely delicious!!!
http://tworunnersandabrowndog.blogspot.com/2011/01/oh-cookies.html
awesome!! Glad you liked them!
I picked up the ingredients for CC cookies tonight so I can make them tomorrow. I’m prepared, and I can’t wait! I might peek at that second recipe though…
Ooo, thanks for the book rec! I’m always looking for new ones to read.
I read this book a while back. It was a really good book.
Your description of what to do one the weekend sounds absolutely perfect. If only, if only.. (I can’t drink, nor bake in my dorm, AND i’m snowed in)
I took your advice and read Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. What a sweet story! Thanks for sharing what you are reading. I’m not very good at choosing books, but I sure do love reading them!
