Good day!
Gosh, I’m having the BEST time here! Seriously, it just feels maaaarvelous to just slow the pace down a bit and hang out with my family. Last night I slept for 9 hours and then today I had some great life chats with my mom while she cooked and then we worked out together and laid by the pool for the afternoon. I think I’m going to go back to California feeling like a whole new woman after some rest!
This morning I slept till 9:30 (!!!!!) and then had some almond butter toast, yogurt and strawberries for breakfast:
Stayed in my jammies until noon chatting with my mamma and then had a turkey/brie/hummus sandwich on whole wheat for lunch:
It felt great to hit the gym, too! I ran a fast 2 miles and then did some upper body strength…I think I got the best workout though laughing until my stomach hurt with my mom
After my workout I did eat a Luna protein bar…but the camera was no where to be found.
I think some of the times I am the happiest is when I’m around horses. Here’s an unknown tidbit of information about me: I used to ride competitively when I was young! I grew up loving horses and my grandfather used to breed racehorses in Texas where my dad’s from. I was raised to read a racing form properly and pick trifectas at the track. I mean, sure, I love fancy dinners and great wine but just give me a prairie, a horse and some boots and I will be in my happiest state ever.
But until then….
Off to get all gussied up for a night out in Savannah with my parents. We are eating here and I can’t wait!

I didn’t know you used to ride! I ride loads (my horse is all over my blog :p) – I used to do LOADS of competitive dressage, though less now with uni – I really miss it!
It’s great to see some horse pics on a blog
It looks so beautiful there
Have a great dinner!
I love horses. They’re so beautiful!
Also, that place looks amazing and beautiful too.
Have a great day!
it looks like a fairy tale there!!!
that’s such a cool little tidbit! your dress is adorable…and i’m so glad you’re finally getting some rest. keep it up girl!
You’re making me miss home/my Momma!! If I was on CA time, I’d be sleeping till way later than 9:30 AM
You look so happy and relaxed–enjoy tonight.
Beautiful! Love your dress, too.
Aw it sounds like your really enjoying the time with your mom (& being home). Relish it
This post made me so homesick! I am actually from Minnesota, not the South, but I too grew up around horses and used to ride all the time – even Saddleseat competitively. I was totally dying at the part about the racing form – I pick a mean trifecta
While I’ve never ridden them, horses are such beautiful and mystical creatures to me. They’re like land-dolphins…if that makes sense.
Glad you’re having a great, rejuvenating time catching up with your folks. Again, I can’t get over the slew of cute dresses you’ve been fashioning lately!
I am glad you are getting some R & R with your family!
Enjoy your dinner tonight!
i always love your photos!! so beautiful
Thanks for sharing about your love for horses! I have gotten into Western riding recently and just love it.
Have a great time!
Again great pictures!
looks like you are having so much fun. Those are such pretty pictures with the horses!
Nothing like a fun day with family. Enjoy the evening as well.
I’m glad you’re having such a great time! There’s nothing better than relaxing and taking time out.
That is so interesting. I had no idea you rode…there’s something so right about that haha!
Man – you have the BEST DRESSES!!! Too cute
What beautiful photos! I too am a complete ‘horse’ girl
I did know you used to ride! I rode competitively til I was 20. I did hunters, jumpers and Eq (but mostly hunters). I miss it so much!
I love all of this…I am totally eating it up. Your home is gorgeous!
I used to ride too. It’s so much fun!! I live in Saratoga where horse racing is huge, so I grew up riding ex-thoroughbreds. I gave it up when my dad quit his job because it was getting so expensive, but I hope riding is on of those things that comes back easily.
i completely understand how you feel about being around horses. i grew up riding and my family still has horses…love them! not sure if you’re a beer drinker, but if so, you should check out Moon River Brewing Company http://www.moonriverbrewing.com/. my boyfriend’s brother is the brewmaster! i also love the Savannah Tea Room (Brin’s Cup Green is the best!) & nourish.
love savannah! enjoy your time with your family! can’t wait to hear about your dinner tonight..i’ve never been to that restaurant
I REALLY want to tour the South! Seems so charming!
Beautiful horses! It looks like a fantastic day! I can’t wait to keep reading!
Sounds like a fun day, parents are the best!!
Love the dresses you’ve been sporting!
What a fantastic time. I like your sandwich combination.
What fun!! Mom time is so reinvigorating. The restro for tonight looks fun…love all the moss. That’s interesting re the horses. I did too!! Was given a foal in the blood lines of Northern Dancer, and my son and I both rode/jumped hunter/hack…he did Steeplechase too–not me. Very good discipline plus just horse crazy. So glad you’re getting refreshed! I’ve taken 4 days of most social media….except just cking email, FB and here….everything else taking a rest. Gets to be too much sometimes!
Sounds like you’re having a wonderful time! I was wondering.. since you drink amazing grass a lot, I was wondering how many servings of vegetables the chocolate amazing grass contains? I’ve seen it a lot on your blog- and it looks so good! I’d prefer my veggies to taste like chocolate
So glad you’re having a great time. Nothing like being back at home with family. Enjoy your dinner!
What was your grandfather’s name and when did he breed racehorses in Texas? Quarter horse or Thoroughbred? I’m from Texas (living in Kentucky now) and have family that was in the racing industry and have worked in it myself. Love the racehorses… that’s why I live in Lexington now!
Never too old to love time with your mom. Enjoy every minute of it. Where in Texas is your family from?
Love your pretty dresses !
reading your blog relaxes me jenna. From your photos of the city to your recaps of happy chats with your mom, it makes me smile. have a great rest of your night!
Did you show hunters? You seem to be an english type gal.
I used to show on that AQHA circuit. Very cool to know your a horse person. I can totally relate to you being happiest with them. Since I stopped riding (not by choice) and being involved (was a barn manager) I’ve been incredibly unhappy in that aspect of my life. Wish money wasn’t such an issue.
There doesn’t seem to be a thing that can fill that void.
Hi Jenna! I love greek yogurt! Looks like you had some for breakfast. You’re also making me crave almond butter–Ive never tried it before. That item is officially on my grocery shopping list. Glad you’re having a good time with the family
Very cute dress. You look adorable in all those pictures – as always.
Glad you’re having a good trip home.
Jenna – get back to your roots – they are calling your name!
I see great things for you in 2010!
I really love following your blog, I have been in the dumps lately then I read your blog and it just brings a smile to my face. i hope some day to be as great at blogging as you are and your camera takes amazing pics too.
Looks like you’re having a blast and having gorgeous weather. Nothing more you could ask for.
I love horses, too! Glad to see you’re having a good time!
Saw that dress at Target, too cute!
Where did you get that dress, Jenna?? I love it!
What camera do you have? It takes amazing pictures!!!
