Dessert/ Dinner/ Lunch

Uh Oh Security Strikes!

Hi guys!

I’ve had a very full day but, sadly, don’t have very many pictures to tell about it with :(. Can you believe that cellphones AND cameras were strictly prohibited into the golf tournament today?! There was no getting around it. I didn’t even bring in a purse when I found out and felt very naked without my blackberry and camera!

I do have SOME pictures from earlier and later in the day though and I will do my best to recap the middle portion. First of all, this morning before we left, I made some some killer juice in my Breville

img_6750

I used two celery stalks, kale, two carrots, 1 large beet, 1 large piece of ginger, a bunch of spinach, and 1 green apple to make two delicious servings of fresh juice! I shared with my dad 🙂

img_6751

I wasted no time in gulping it all down!

And then we were off! The drive to the tournament was about 30 minutes and since I didn’t know when we would be eating lunch (or WHAT I would be eating for lunch), I packed a snack bag

img_6753

I ate the cereal mix on the car ride over….it was a delish mix of cinnamon puffins, Zoe’s honey almond granola and a few Go Raw cookies. On the car ride HOME, I brought out the TJs fruit strip that Miss Abbie was so kind to bring me last weekend! It was SO yummy!! I never ended up eating the Pure Bar, since I didn’t bring my purse into the event anyways.

We had these amazing VIP passes to the super cool big tent and it was full of open bars and catered by Outback and BONEFISH! There was food everywhere to be seen…..huge carving stations were set up and TONS of meat and onions rings. Not really my style so I ventured upstairs to the Bonefish area and filled a plate with a piece of salmon, a tiny bit of caesar salad and a tiny bit of chicken. It was very, very good and I also snagged two of Ryan’s Bang Bang Shrimp that we love so much! 😉

I didn’t drink at all today and instead guzzled water. That just goes to show how much I have really changed since college! When I was younger, open bars = getting wasted. Obviously. I mean, it’s free! I spent many a day drinking waaaaay too many cocktails because they were “free”. Flash forward four years and I usually stick to water at such events, or one to two drinks at night. I never feel very good after drinking during the day and it is very easy to go overboard when EVERYBODY is drinking! I always am a bit hesitant not to drink at events during the day when everyone else is, but then when I am home later in the evening I am always SO glad I didn’t drink.

Later, for the record, I had one amazing bite of Ryan’s turtle cheesecake! 😉

When I got home I was hot, sunburned and felt a little dehydrated even though I had been drinking water after water all day long. We literally walked ALL AFTERNOON and it was sooo hot outside. I definitely got my exercise in today! All I felt like for dinner was a huge salad so that’s what I made—

This was a enormous combo of spinach, kale, bell pepper, summer squash and onion. I even made homemade lemon-tahini dressing for it and was very pleased because it was the best dressing I have ever made!

Raw Lemon-Tahini Dressing

(to serve one)

  • 2 tbsp raw tahini
  • juice of one lemon
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • pinch of sea salt + cayenne
  • warm water as needed

Basically, all I did was combine all the ingredients above and used a little warm water to thin the dressing out to a pourable consistency. It was SO delicious!!!!!!!

I also had a baked garnet yam on the side—

All together—-

This dinner was perfect in every way and left me feeling light, energized and extremely satisfied. SO glad I didn’t throw it all to the wind and stuff myself with cocktails, greasy onion rings and cheesecake at the tournament. There’s no problem indulging, but that’s what vacations are for in my book! Or really special date nights! 😉 I would not feel this good right now if I ate all that crap today…that’s for sure!

Dessert was two raw donut holes

I’m off to get my whites ready for tomorrow, take a bath and read! Another weekend sadly bites the dust :(. This month is totally flying by…no?!

Love, love, love the dressing idea! You’re so right about day events/open bars! It’s so easy to go overboard but if you don’t, you’ll be much happier (and alert) later on!

I am the say way about drinking now, I’ll enjoy wine every once in a while but for the most part I would rather not drink at all, even if the drinks are free.

Yeah, golf tournaments are always like that. They are so strict too, it is a bit crazy. I always get sad that I have to go a day without photo taking!

I need to embrace your mentality at an open bar during the day. I still always have a drink or two and usually regret it later on.

I’m so not a juice person, but at least when you make your own you don’t have to worry about added sugar.
