New Month, New Jar

by jenna on September 1, 2009

Good morning and happy September 1st!!!!

Fall is my very favorite season and even though it’s still blazing hot in Florida, this day still puts me in the spirit. This morning my alarm went off at 6 to run but after bandaging up my feet, having a snack and getting my running clothes on, I realized that every step I took still hurt and it just wasn’t worth it. So, what did I do? I had the other half of my breakfast, turned back off my lights and lay in the dark listening to Shane & Shane for 45 minutes. It was amazing and felt a lot better than a painful run. Love those guys.

The first part of my breakfast was a piece of Ezekiel bread with almond butter, preserves and half a banana. I didn’t exactly photograph it though….

IMG_3218

New month, new jar of almond butter. I love it.

The second part of my breakfast was a pomegranate chobani with a little Udi’s granola and the other banana half:

IMG_3220

I’ve decided I love this flavor of Chobani (love the seeds!) BUT if I didn’t know, I would never think it was pomegranate. I would think strawberry. I love the idea of this flavor though and think it should be more pomegranate-y! Of course Udi’s granola is freakin’ amazing….if you have never tried it, you must. Divine.

Today I am starting a new little “job”…..I will be volunteering some of my time over the next few weeks working at my yoga studio in exchange for classes. I won’t be teaching yoga, of course, but I will be checking in students, cleaning the studio and answering the phone. Every shift I work I get a free class, so I’ll probably be working a couple times a week so I can go to all my favorites. It works out nicely.

Have a wonderful day—don’t forget your Pumpkin Spice Latte!! ;)

I use to do that at the studio in my neighborhood. It was called the Karma Yogi Program. If you worked four hours a week, you got all the free yoga you wanted. It was fantastic!

Jenna, your breakfasts are always so good!! Kudos on the patience with running – you will definitely feel the rewards soon! Hey – it kind of already started with the free yoga :)

omg – i want that “job”! i wonder if i can find somewhere to do that…

i’m so sorry your body is still working against you with running. keep resting – it will heal with time. a few days off is better than a few months! :)

Hi Jenna. Good for you for knowing when to give your body a break. I hope your feet feel better soon!

PS Googling Shane & Shane now to find out who they are….

That is so cool that you get to work in exchange for classes! I wish that I could do that here! I know that it is hard being patient, but trust me, it will pay off! I twisted my ankle in the Prague half marathon in March (dang cobblestone!), and I am just now getting over it!! I had to stay off the trails for a while, then progress to running really slowly on the trails. Now, I’m finally okay. Good job on listening to your body!!

Smart move on listening to your body, plus, who doesn’t love a little extra relaxation time?

I took my second yogadownload.com class this morning, and it kicked my booty. Thank you for the inspiration to start yoga, hearing about it all the time really pushed me to try it!

Have wonderful day!

I couldn’t really dig the pom flavored chobani. I liked it at the time, but I’m not sure if I’ll buy it again. I definitely agree…it needs more pom flavor.

Now, pineapple, on the other hand? Major yum! :D

Happy September 1st!!

Loving the “yoga exchange” and your glorious morning. Love those kind of days, haha. Fall happens to be my favorite season too, but maybe it’s because I have a secret love for school supply shopping. Oh the joy that comes with new pencils, folders, and notebooks. I’m a geek and I love it! Enjoy the downward dogs that seem to be in your future!

Moksha Yoga studios (a wonderful hot yoga “chain” which started in Canada and now in USA,offers a “work exchange” program where one can clean up/etc in exchange for free yoga classes.I love this idea of old fashioned “bartering” .
Even though I am middleaged,I am in a low income field so have trouble keepoing up my addiction to Moksha Yoga,so am considering doing a work trade myself.
Very smart idea Jenna, you’ll meet some supernice yoginis,be able to afford yoga-thanks for inspiring us all.
And you will get a real taste if you might like to pursue yoga teacher training-could totally envision you teaching a few yoga classes a week on the side(“appetizer”)with your writing being your “full meal”!!
