Good morning and happy September 1st!!!!
Fall is my very favorite season and even though it’s still blazing hot in Florida, this day still puts me in the spirit. This morning my alarm went off at 6 to run but after bandaging up my feet, having a snack and getting my running clothes on, I realized that every step I took still hurt and it just wasn’t worth it. So, what did I do? I had the other half of my breakfast, turned back off my lights and lay in the dark listening to Shane & Shane for 45 minutes. It was amazing and felt a lot better than a painful run. Love those guys.
The first part of my breakfast was a piece of Ezekiel bread with almond butter, preserves and half a banana. I didn’t exactly photograph it though….
New month, new jar of almond butter. I love it.
The second part of my breakfast was a pomegranate chobani with a little Udi’s granola and the other banana half:
I’ve decided I love this flavor of Chobani (love the seeds!) BUT if I didn’t know, I would never think it was pomegranate. I would think strawberry. I love the idea of this flavor though and think it should be more pomegranate-y! Of course Udi’s granola is freakin’ amazing….if you have never tried it, you must. Divine.
Today I am starting a new little “job”…..I will be volunteering some of my time over the next few weeks working at my yoga studio in exchange for classes. I won’t be teaching yoga, of course, but I will be checking in students, cleaning the studio and answering the phone. Every shift I work I get a free class, so I’ll probably be working a couple times a week so I can go to all my favorites. It works out nicely.
Have a wonderful day—don’t forget your Pumpkin Spice Latte!!

I took my first yoga class at Yogani last week…it was amazing! Excellent teacher, great atmosphere-if you havent been, definitely check it out!
wow, that’s such a great job to do!
I use to do that at the studio in my neighborhood. It was called the Karma Yogi Program. If you worked four hours a week, you got all the free yoga you wanted. It was fantastic!
Jenna, your breakfasts are always so good!! Kudos on the patience with running – you will definitely feel the rewards soon! Hey – it kind of already started with the free yoga
omg – i want that “job”! i wonder if i can find somewhere to do that…
i’m so sorry your body is still working against you with running. keep resting – it will heal with time. a few days off is better than a few months!
Hi Jenna. Good for you for knowing when to give your body a break. I hope your feet feel better soon!
PS Googling Shane & Shane now to find out who they are….
New almond butter, new ‘job’. Sounds like your September is off on the right foot!
That is so cool that you get to work in exchange for classes! I wish that I could do that here! I know that it is hard being patient, but trust me, it will pay off! I twisted my ankle in the Prague half marathon in March (dang cobblestone!), and I am just now getting over it!! I had to stay off the trails for a while, then progress to running really slowly on the trails. Now, I’m finally okay. Good job on listening to your body!!
What a great little “job”! Totally worth it!
Definitely just added “pumpkin spice latte” to my To Do list for the day! Thanks!
Enjoy your new ‘job’! Sounds like an awesome trade-off!
mmm….pumpkin spice latte! Thanks for reminding me!
I love Fall too and very excited about it being the first day of September! I am so glad you took the time for yourself this morning. Sounds wonderful and rejuvenating.
Fall is my favorite season too!!! I can’t wait for Pumpkin Spice Lattes!
Have fun at the yoga studio!
xo
K
cannot wait for the pumpkin spice latte!!!
thats awesome about volunteering in exchange for classes- a bikram studio by me offers that- im considering it!
Dang, now I want a pumpkin spice latte, haha! I think that yoga deal sounds great, nice trade
Have fun!
I love that brand of almond butter!
Smart move on listening to your body, plus, who doesn’t love a little extra relaxation time?
I took my second yogadownload.com class this morning, and it kicked my booty. Thank you for the inspiration to start yoga, hearing about it all the time really pushed me to try it!
Have wonderful day!
-Jenna
That sounds like an excellent trade at the yoga studio!
I’m happy that fall’s coming on too. Love those pumpkin lattes!
Sounds like a wonderful little set up at the studio. Can’t believe it’s already September!
What a great job exhange!!! Super cool!
Sounds like a good plan you have worked out! And good for you for listening to your body! So where do you find Udi’s?
GIRL! I’m so excited you are working at the studio!! And super jealous too!!!!!! =)
Have SO much fun! You will love it.
volunteering for classes sounds awesome! I hope the new “job” goes well today
i’ve got to restock on AB!
Such a lucky job! Enjoy it; I would LOVE to work in a yoga studio
what a fun “job”!
Enjoy your yoga classes. Sounds like a sweet deal! Thanks for the pumpkin spice reminder. I got one this morning! I’m eating oatmeal with Asian pear and almond butter topped with pumpkin spice latte. Mmm. Kind of like Caitlin’s double shot oatmeal!
I love Shane and Shane too! They always get me into worship mode. I hope you have fun with your new “job”!!
I should have started my morning like you…shane and shane…good almond butter…some yogurt… and working at the yoga studio. Sounds like a perfect start to the “fall.”
I will be getting my pumpkin spice latte today.
I couldn’t really dig the pom flavored chobani. I liked it at the time, but I’m not sure if I’ll buy it again. I definitely agree…it needs more pom flavor.
Now, pineapple, on the other hand? Major yum!
Happy September 1st!!
I love Shane & Shane! Sounds like you made a great decision this morning, have a good day!
Jenna, What a great job for you!! I really want to go back to yoga but can’t afford the classes maybe I can work out a similar “job” with my yoga studio. hehe
what a great idea for a job jenna!!
I hope you enjoy it.
what an exciting new “job” just like “will work for food”! thats so awesome!!! hope u love it
congrats on the “job” that sounds like a lot of fun! Did you offer to do that or did they offer you the opportunity?
I wish I could find Chobani in my neck of the woods, but I’ve never seen it here before!
Oooh that’s so exciting! I wish I could do that!!
What a great start to September – Yoga classes, almond butter and Pumpkin Spice Lattes…doesn’t get much better
Sounds fun!! And I think it’s smart that you didn’t try to push it today with the running. Blisters suck and need time to heal!
yesss, pumpkin spice latte day! i love fall. i live in the midwest and it actually is unseasonably cool here (well, for august it was!), so it feels and smells like fall outside. it will be even better once i have a PSL in my hand
Good morning, Jenna! I love how you listened to your body and did not run this morning. You know what is best for you. I am loving that it is September 1st too!!!! Even though I feel the same as you with the southern heat. But at least it’s a fall month, haha. How exciting to get to work at yoga in exchange for yoga! That sounds like a very enjoyable job…have fun today!!!
Thanks for the heads up on the Pumpkin Spice Latte yesterday, I stopped by Starbucks on my way to work. It always definitely puts me in the mood for fall, my favorite season. And it was nice that it was cool and breezy in Atlanta this morning to go along with it! Have a great day!
I just finished my delicious pumpkin spice latte!! yum. That is a great opportunity- a yoga studio by my house has a similar program and I’ve thought about doing it.
That’s a great arrangement! Very practical too–yoga can get to be so expensive. I always consider it a necessary expense…but costly nonetheless! Hope your first day goes well.
oh! yummy yummy pumpkin spice! Not a fan of coffee though, but if i had to get one, that would totally be the kind!
it takes you a month to finish a jar ?! what self control!
Happy September Jenna! Woohoo! I love the fall too! The first time in my life, I moved up to Prescott–a little mountain town in AZ–last year and really experiencing the seasons! MMM…goodness.
Thanks for the scripture yesterday! It really encouraged me where I was at!
Have a fun day!
Loving the “yoga exchange” and your glorious morning. Love those kind of days, haha. Fall happens to be my favorite season too, but maybe it’s because I have a secret love for school supply shopping. Oh the joy that comes with new pencils, folders, and notebooks. I’m a geek and I love it! Enjoy the downward dogs that seem to be in your future!
What a great way to ring in the new month
Or you could make your own pumpkin spice latte if you are like me and too lazy to drive to Starbucks!

That’s an awesome idea to exchange your time for free yoga classes!
Ugh, it’s so hard to be patient with running injuries!! Sending healing vibes your way.
Can I tell you how excited I am about fall… AND the Pumpkin Spice Latte?? Even though it’s still in the 90′s here in TX. Oh well.
Moksha Yoga studios (a wonderful hot yoga “chain” which started in Canada and now in USA,offers a “work exchange” program where one can clean up/etc in exchange for free yoga classes.I love this idea of old fashioned “bartering” .
Even though I am middleaged,I am in a low income field so have trouble keepoing up my addiction to Moksha Yoga,so am considering doing a work trade myself.
Very smart idea Jenna, you’ll meet some supernice yoginis,be able to afford yoga-thanks for inspiring us all.
And you will get a real taste if you might like to pursue yoga teacher training-could totally envision you teaching a few yoga classes a week on the side(“appetizer”)with your writing being your “full meal”!!
I love “Yearn” by Shane & Shane. I saw them in Milwaukee a year ago when they were on the Glory Revealed tour – also got to see Mac Powell – what a treat!!
New month, new jar… but let’s be honest, how long will that jar last?
Awesome plan to work for your yoga classes. That’s the perfect way to fit yoga into your budget.
Happy September!
I didn’t get the chance!
I had planned to get a pumpkin spice latte on the way to work but was running way behind
Good luck with the new “job”! It sound perfect for you!!
Wonderful idea about the yoga studio! I love fall…I love everything about it. Pumpkin spice latte suonds right up my alley.
have fun at your new “job”! great idea to volunteer in exchange for classes!
I’m totally off to get a pumpkin spice latte today! Good idea with the yoga studio too! What a great way to take the classes you want!
What an awesome arrangement for you!
That’s a great deal with the Yoga studio!
what a great little “job” that sounds perfect!! what a great idea!
Whoa–what a great idea. I need to see if my Pilates studio will do that swap with me! Volunteering versus $25/class… would be muy muy beneficial!

What are great gig at the yoga studio! I have enjoyed my pumpkin latte today. Delish!
As much as I love the Pumpkin Spice latte, I’m not ready for it… Here in Chicago, we don’t get too much summer… and I’m going to pretend it’s still summer until the snow tells me otherwise!
Fall is my fav time of the year, too! I cannot wait till the leaves start changing, I can wear sweaters and jeans to class (with sandals, of course!) and the crisp, clean air makes me feel revitalized and alive!
Such an awesome idea to work at the studio for classes…I might have to look into doing that myself! So cannot afford my local studio…
Glad you are loving the pomegranate chobani – yep, it’s the seeds that do it!!
thanks for the reminder about the pumpkin spice latte
Happy September!
I just have to tell you that I just recently started reading your blog and it is one of my new favorites
Your writing style is very energetic and uplifting and I really enjoy each new post. Fabulous blog!
Happy pumpkin spice latte day!
Sometimes God makes us take a break….I think this is yours. Enjoy the time (like you did today with music).
I love fall, the weather, the smell, the clothing.. it’s perfect running weather, too
Yum! I just picked up the pomegranate chobani and can’t wait to try it!
What a great way to start September!
I love the Pomegranate choboni! A lot of people actually don’t like it for some reason.
I’ve always wanted to try Almond butter but it’s so dang expensive!
Happy September!
can’t believe it is already september first!!
I mean I know I don’t really know you. I’ve been reading your blog for quite some time though. I just wanted to say that you seem to have such a more positive attitude lately. It’s great to see! Continue to put your faith in God and everything will work out!
I am seriously considering making it a point to start off each new month with a new jar
at least it’ll give me something to look forward to as the months so quickly pass by me!
Your dinner last night looked fabulous…and since you couldn’t stop raving about it, are you going to post the recipe?!?! Congrats on the awesome yoga deal. Works out perfectly for both of you:)
Jenn,
the recipe is from Food and Wine magazine! I think if you look on their website you should be able to find it!!
Oh my I love pumpkin spice lattes! So excited for autumn (as I’m sure many people here are). I’ve been lurking on your blog for way too long, and I just started my own and thought I’d finally come out of hiding and do a little shameless self-promotion. Your blog is one of the first few I ever read, so thanks for introducing me to this little world. I love the blog!
I just made a post on my public health blog about autumn. Good thing you have a good attitude toward the changing seasons — my post was about staving off the fall blues!
ooh la la, how i love autumn! had to jet over to starbucks this morning for my yummy pumpkin fix…merci for reminding moi!
j’adore shane and shane too! i have to find my fave mix cd one of my college friends burned for me what seems like a million years ago…thanks for the reminder there to!
That’s so neat that you were able to work this arrangement out with the yoga studio! You rock!
Have a great week!
I can’t find the pomegranate chobani but the pineapple one is amazing!!
Fall is my favorite season too. I was in Starbucks yesterday right after classes to get a pumpkin spice latte. It was amazing!!
How could I ever forget my Pumpkin Spice Latte!! I LOVE these babies Oh So Much! hehe
