Dessert/ Dinner/ Lunch

Valley Girl

Hey!

Napa sure was nice, but I was glad to get back to my little home “out in the country” over here in Sonoma. 😉

For lunch though, I was so excited to go to the original Oakville Grocery!!!!

I love the little one that is a few blocks from me, but this was so much better…and cuter! I got a hummus and veggie sandwich on whole wheat and it was delicious.

We didn’t end up making it to Cakebread…instead just explored the quaint little town of St.Helena!

And then I squeamed in delight when we stopped at Greystone!

IMG_2016

SO GORGEOUS!!! I love my alma mater, but this was truly majestic. I also met Chloe, a reader, in the campus store! 🙂

We made a pit stop at both Target and Trader Joe’s (have I mentioned how much I love having my mom here?!) and then it was finally home. Snack was an apple with almond butter—

And dinner was roast chicken! Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I make some darn good roast chicken. I stuff the inside of the chicken with garlic and lemon and rub butter, olive oil and sea salt all over. It made my little house smell AAAAMAZING (and also set off the fire alarm a few times..oopsies) and I served it with baked sweet potatoes and roasted carrots:

(I dipped my chicken in this delicious apple mustard with ginger and cinnamon!)

Matanzas Creek Merlot was poured—

And dessert was a yogurt with chocolate chips, dried cherries and raspberry jam:

Last night of mom-time. We are doing laundry, hanging pictures and playing with Dexter.

Hope you enjoy the last night of your mom’s visit. Sounds like you both had a lovely time throughout the duration of her trip!

Also, your roast chicken method sounds so delicious and simple. I hear ya on the sensitive smoke alarms. Mine is constantly going off, it completely disrupts the food groove when you have to stop to poke a smoke alarm with a broom.
