Wow, what a fun day! Instead of going on a shopping adventure on Black Friday, we chose to go on a WINE COUNTRY adventure! Woot woot!

But first……breakfast!

Oatmeal made with water, banana, greek yogurt, almond butter and honey. Somehow despite all the pounds of food I ate last night, I was stillllll hungry this morning at 7 am!
After breakfast, I grabbed Tracy and we went to the gym. We ended up walking right in at the same time an African dance class was starting and when there’s an African dance class starting, you dance. After a few minutes of hysterically laughing in the back, we got our dance on for an hour and learned some sweet new moves. Yeahhhhhh
After the class ended, we did about a 30 minute workout consisting of medicine ball squats, jumping squats, flying leaps, stability ball push-ups and jump rope. Too bad Tracy lives in Atlanta….she’s a good gym buddy!
Ate an early lunch of a veggie burger on Ezekiel with hummus and hot sauce post-gym—

And then the adventure started. Tracy, Hardy, Broderick and I did it up in style. I don’t think I’ve laughed so hard in a reallyyyy long time!

I think I’ve been hanging out with Hardy for too long and now I’m incapable of making a normal face in photos.
After an initial bust at an olive oil tasting (they were closed!), we headed through the mountains to Mendocino county to taste some sweeeeeet Anderson Valley wines.
First stop: Breggo.

I liked the wines but I liked their big stuffed sheep even more.

Thoughts?

Next: TOULOUSE!!!!! (I was obsessed)

(and yes, we all bought those t-shirts because they are AWESOME!)
Toulouse was my kind of winery…..down home style, dogs racing around everywhere, yummy cheesy crackers and delicious Pinot Noir.

Who wouldn’t love a place that’s motto is “too tense? Toulouse!!” bam!
After Toulouse, there was a little trail mix snackie in the vehicle as we continued our journey—

And then the final destination….Rhoederer Estate for some buuuuubbly!

Yum, yum, yum. I liked this place a lot. I’m getting more into sparkling wine as of late. I never really cared for it before but…..it’s just so good when it hits the lips. You know. Actually this visit was HYSTERICAL but I can’t really get into the funny story on the blog…it involved a really awkward conversation and me turning beet red. Trust me on that one.

SO pretty!

We were going to go to the coast but the sun was already setting and we were all getting quite hungry (or maybe that was just me), so we started the long, veryyyy windy drive home. A big thank-you to Tracy for being the dd!
We ended our Black Friday adventure at, what else, but a Mexican restaurant here in Healdsburg. My chicken enchiladas were enough to feed a small country.

I ate one of the enchiladas and then was stuffed. I think if I had to pick one meal to eat for the rest of my life, it might just be enchiladas. I’m just sayin’.
I have a belly full of Mexican food right now and my oldest, most broken in pair of jeans on and I am one happy camper. Think about I’m to settle in with a book and call it a night.
Mmmhhmmmmm

ROTFLMAO–’CIA’ sweatshirt and orange ‘Polk Cty’ prison garb. Too funny. The enchiladas look delish. Since originally Spanish/Mexican colonial governments still great Spanish food in many areas of the Golden State.
Sounds like the perfect black Friday to me!
I’d take your day over shopping, hands down!
Okay seriously, aren’t you just having a total blast?? Love seeing pictures from your fun day. It makes me wish I was in Northern Cali and also that I was able to just get up and go wine tasting when I wanted to but the one or two wineries in Florida just ain’t cuttin’ it. Glad you are living it up.
I love anderson valley! How fun and your hair looks fab!
I would love to try olive oil tastings. It is the only oil I will use since my time in spain.
Jenna, I LOVE how happy you look in these photos
I LOOOVE Mendocino and Anderson Valley- so gorgeous! Have you driven up to Mendo (the town)? It is awesome and worth the trip!
So glad you are having such a great T-day weekend!

Hi Jenna
. But I cannot get a blogroll on the sidebar. It is not an option. Does this mean that if I choose this theme I just cannot get a blogroll there or is there any way to add one? Thanks Jenna.
Lovely day. Lovely oats.
I have a question since I am starting a blog. I have a theme exactly like yours (coincidence , I am not trying to be you
What a great day! I wish I had taken advantage of all the great wine tours while I was living in SF.
Enchiladas are the besttttttttt
You look fantastic. I’m sure the 10 lbs in the scale may seem scary, but it suits you. Good for you
Fantastic adventure. Give me wine over retail any day
Photo with man in hat with dog – that IS my dog!! She is a havanese and when you see one, you know one.
You seem to be enjoying wine country. Good for you. Don’t forget to come up for air hehe … it’s an easy step into indulgence.
Can we guess on the embarrassing story?
And why is Hardy wearing a Polk County prison shirt? Just wondering…
I can’t remember if I already commented, but I really love your hair like that! Makes me reconsider growing mine out.
Looks like you’re having an awesome week, can’t wait to see to see what goes down next week!

I think you made the right choice by moving out there!!
I know that I’ve said this a hundred times…but the positive engergy that you’re exuding and the life that you’re able to be part of is so refreshing to read. Keep livin’ it up. Enjoy the mexican food for me
Hahaha, I was hungry this morning too. Pounds of food? Nahhh
That yogurt looks like fluffy whipped cream! I love your “weird” faces
Man, those enchiladas look insanely good. I’ve not had proper, authentic Mexican food in over a year. Good Mexican food is the one thing I cannot find in NYC.
Glad you had a fun day! I don’t think I’d be able to keep a straight face in any given dance class either. I have two left feet.
Looks like you had a fantastic black friday!
I would kill to got to a wine tasting right now! Looks like the ideal Friday
i LOVE sparkling wine– prosecco, champagne, moscato, lambrusco–like a kid loves soda! glad you are discovering it.

And I just had to tell you that I am getting a Vita Mix!!! I can’t believe it myself! I can’t wait to start using it…it is going to be a long couple weeks until it arrives! I just can’t wait! Now I am reading everything I can get my hands on about them! And the recipes!
Wow. I would trade Black Friday in for that day ANY year. Looks and sounds like you had an amazing day. Those t-shirts are hilarious!
i would choose a wine country adventure over black friday shopping any day!! looks and sounds like an amazing time!
Sounds like a blast!
I love Mendocino – my parents live up there (listen to KZYX next time you’re up there, my stepdad runs it!), and I’m in the wine club at Handley. But Toulouse is my favorite winery, ever! I love the black licorice they give you with the Pinot. I have a few bottles I’m saving. Fun!
Yum, yum yum! I love that shirt you are wearing in your previous post too – so pretty! Enchiladas – mmm- I had AMYS’ once…haha…will have to try them ‘home-style’
African dance? Sounds like fun!
Ah, Roederer, an old love. We served it at our wedding actually.
Your Black Friday wine adventure sounds like more fun than shopping all day. And that’s saying a lot because I like to shop!
Happy belated Thanksgiving Jenna!!
It looks like yall had a great time~ but I was wondering lately if you ever get tired of tasting/drinking alcohol so often? I have been following the blog for a little while here and sometimes feel hungover just reading! lol!
Seriously, not to offend you, but I really was curious if the actual drinking part gets old? It could just be the pictures that seem so saturated with drinks (not the people involved)- just curious~
Amy and J,
Well…I mean, yeah, drinking gets old…but keep in mind that I’m not guzzling down drinks. It’s really part of the culture here and I do like it a lot, but again, its not like I sit and get wasted every night. And when I go out tasting, I’m usually spitting and pouring, not actually drinking!
Actially Jenna I was wondering sorta the same thing re alcohol…do you ever feel urge to “detox” and just in general how do you feel with more wine these days?
I am curious because I am considering going off all booze for a month-have started to feel a bit too attached to my nightly glass or two or red!
Thanks for any thoughts in this area Jenna!
That sounds a whole lot more fun than shopping with the huge crowds!
What a fun day!! Out of curiosity…what is your favorite wine?
Kelly,
Hmmmmm tough call!!! my favorite varietal would probably be pinot noir but currently my favorite is our (michel-schlumberger) 07 cabernet franc. I love it!
mmm that Mexican food looks good!!
Im getting a little more jealous of California every day!!
I love your funny silly faces!
Dinner looks great. I love mexican food!
Love African Dance classes… even if it does make me look “overly Caucasian”! hahaha
where is this 10 pounds you are talking about???? where is it?????? because i don’t see it anywhere, and you look AMAZING girl!!!!
Thanks for reply!
I knew you weren’t guzzling away booze, just wondered how you felt with more alcohol intake in general…..sorry if I made it sound like you were a “boozer” you health gal you
Cheers and thanks!(I am gonna start my month of all alcohol next week…I will miss my wine!!)
