Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes
Servings 4 people

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 whole yellow onion diced
  • 1 T olive oil
  • 2 1/4 tsp chili powderr
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese, divided
  • 4 whole whole wheat tortillas
  • sour cream for serving
  • hot sauce or salsa for serving
  • guacamole for serving

  1. Heat the oil in a large, heavy-bottomed skillet over medium heat. When hot, add the diced onion and cook for about 5 minutes until soft. Then, add ground turkey, working to break it up into small clumps with a wooden spoon.

  2. Once turkey loses it raw color, add the chili powder, cumin, salt and oregano. Stir well to combine and keep cooking until turkey is done.

  3. Open your can of refried beans and put about 1/4 cup down the center of every tortilla. Follow with the same amount of ground meat and, finally, cheese. Optionally, you may add hot sauce to the inside of the burrito here as well.

  4. Fold up burritos and serve. I recommend making these in advance and reheat in a 325 degree oven for 15-20 minutes until hot.

  5. Serve with guacamole, hot sauce and sour cream.
