Lunch

Wraps and Golf

We stopped and got some sandwiches before golf. I stopped and got a hummus/tabouli/kale salad wrap with veggie chips from the health food store near my house. I am absolutely addicted to these chips. They are sooo good and crunchy! This morning I snacked on an apple and some muffin “crumbs” while unloading all my baked goods to the family.

Sorry for the short post but I have Ryan and my dad on me right now because they want to have enough time to “warm up” on the driving range before we play! This should be interesting. I packed some trail mix and larabars for my mom and I to snack on while the men play.

I am SO excited for tonight! Kate and I are having our first meeting for the dinner club we set up  here in Tampa. We have six girls going to dinner at a really nice restaurant tonight at 8:30 and I’m so excited to meet everyone and have some great foodie conversation. I will def. let you know about how it goes and what we discuss. It will def. splurge (money and food wise!) but it will be worth it for sure. Here’s where we are eating. I wish ALL of you could come! 🙂

I ate an mis en place about a month ago and thought it was amazing! The food is so fancy and it’s just a fun experience. I don’t know if they still have it on the menu, since they do change it often, but their
falafel is to die for! And the chocolate pecan toffee mousse is absolutely delicious. Have fun!!

Wow, that wrap looks beyond delicious – it contains a perfect mix of flavors and ingredients (including one of my obsessions = kale! haha).

Enjoy the afternoon; and ESPECIALLY enjoy the first meeting of your dinner club!! Sounds too fun!! :0)

I just bought quinoa for the first time form a bulk bin and the directions for cooking said 2c water for every 1c quinoa and simmer for like 30min……does this sound right? Also, when do I add spices/seasonings (before I cook it, after it is cooked?)? Also, any special seasoning suggestions? thanks!

    Emily–

yes, that’s right. it’s just like cooking rice. as for spices—it really depends how much you want the quinoa to taste like the spice and how long you want the spices to cook. for example, something like saffron or turmeric could be put in fairly early in the cooking process so you get that nice color and flavor, whereas a nice piney spice like rosemary i’d probably save for later so it stays nice and fresh. likewise, you could put something like chili pepper in later so you just get that kick SOMETIMES rather than having it occupy the whole flavor of the dish. it’s really a matter of personal preference. the longer the spice cooks with the quinoa, the more your dish will have the flavor of that spice. hope this helps!

also that restaurant looks delicious, and so does your wrap, jenna! i think ive had those veggie chips before too! if they’re the same kind, they’re so good!!

Hey Jenna. Do you mind sharing the name of the health food store you get your sandwiches and such from? I’m in Maitland and would love someplace healthy and yummy to get something on the run…

    Thanks…

I thought this was a cool/inspiring little article for BOYS! I guess it’s b/c my brother is a tight end & has “pro day” this Wednesday, which I guess it like try-outs for the NFL – scouts come to the universities & check out the players (I’m not gonna lie, I really don’t know) but the mere thought of him being in the NFL is crraaaazyyy to me!!! (I’ll let y’all know if he gets drafted in April haha like anyone really cares- but your boyfriends or brothers might!) Anywayyyy…..here’s the link for all the doubtful boys in your lives:
