Chocolates and My Last Packed Lunch

I present the chocolate box:

img_2117.JPG

I told you guys it wasn’t anything to write home about…but it was the cause of much stress and frustration over the last couple days!!! Its “glued” together with chocolate and filled with an assortment of chocolate candies and truffles:

More chocolates to take to work today!

img_2123.JPG

Now my lovely little box is sitting in the window of the Chocolate & Sugar classroom. I have to say. I’m glad chocolate is over! That is DEFINITELY not my thing. Sooo messy and intricate. I like digging my hands in bread dough much more! Tonight we start working with sugar and next week I have a sugar sculpture due, so stay tuned!

The good news was that we got out at 11:00 last night so I was in bed around 11:30! And……I just couldn’t take it anymore—-I went to the gym this morning after a two day break! My legs were starting to itch and I just needed to break a sweat. Here’s what I did:

couple minutes on treadmill to warm up

3 sets of triceps kickbacks. 15 lbs. 12 reps

3 sets of shoulder raises. 10 lbs. 12 reps.

2 sets of pushups. 12 reps

3 sets of sitting hammer curls. 10 lbs. 15 reps

3 sets of bent over dumbbell row. 15 lbs. 12 reps

3 sets of back hyper extensions. 12 reps

3 sets of reverse crunches. 12 reps

3 sets of bicycle crunches. 20 reps

3 sets of knee-ins. 20 reps

Total workout time= 30 minutes

Before I left (and sorry! I forgot to take a picture this morning…), I had half of a carrot cake clif bar. YUM! When I got back, I had overnight oats:

img_2124.JPG

With a spoonful of almond butter, half a banana, cinnamon and a drizzle of maple syrup…..drool.

It’s my last day of work!!!!!! I had to quit now because I’m about to change back to morning classes at school and, therefore, can’t work mornings at Roy’s anymore. It’s bittersweet. This job has worked out perfectly for me and my schedule and the people I work with are like family. I’m all set to train two new girls though this afternoon to take over my position!

So, I bring you my last packed lunch. I packed a turkey/hummus wrap with 3 slices turkey, about 3 tbsp hummus, spinach and jalepinos on a whole wheat wrap with a string cheese and an apple:

And for snacks—-some almonds for this morning with my last (sniff!) cup of coffee at Roy’s and some yogurt with 1/4th of a blueberry/vanilla plank for an afternoon snack.

NOT ANYTHING TO WRITE ABOUT???!!! Are you out of your mind?!

As someone who’s been fortunate enough to travel all around the world with parents who LIVE for luxurious hotels, I can tell you that your presentation is one of the most beautiful works of chocolate I’ve ever seen!!! LA MAISON DU CHOCOLAT in London and New York = CHOCOLATE CHANEL <333 However, I MUST SAY, that box could def give the Cocoa COCO (wink, wink) a run for their money! You should be so proud of yourself! And you better be putting together a portfolio of your work!!! It’s SO gorgeous!

I agree that this week has gone by SO FREAKING SLOWLY! What the heck is that, man?! I felt like yesterday should have been thursday and today Friday… It’s tripping me up!

Have the best last day Ever! And I’m sure they will L.O.V.E. those Chocolates! Who wouldn’t!

If you like Runner’s World, you should check out this book written by a former editor of the magazine. It’s called Run Right Now. What a Half-Century of the Run has Taught. It’s by Joe Henderson and talks all about training, injuries, races, and the overall thrill of running. Some of it is for hard core marathon runners but it’s a good read for anyone who enjoys hitting the pavement.

I guess there’s a big difference between those of us with an “untrained eye” and those with professional eyes…

Because let me tell you, I would be writing home about that chocolate box. Too bad you don’t enjoy making them more, because we clearly LOVE looking at them!

Jenna, your chocolate box is gorgeous!
So funny that just when you want a rest from the gym, you miss it! Our bodies really cravy activity, don’t they?

So glad you love overnight oats- they are my favorite thing about the morning!

Because it should always be Friday, that’s why.

My body definitely craves activity. The last time I took two days off without any exercise, it felt like my blood stopped moving or something.

99% of mankind’s #1 weakness all packed up in such a GORGEOUS box?! That’s just asking for trouble!
I like the ones that look like crystals! So fun 😀

Haha I find it’s really funny [and yet AWESOME] that if you’ve been exercising long enough, it’s a lot harder to just sit on your butt all day! It’s like your body grows to NEED the exercise–which makes sense–since we aren’t made to be sedentary!
And it sounds like you had a great workout 🙂

Beautiful chocolate box! Looks good enough to…well, eat! Enjoy your last day at work. I know, bittersweet. But a new chapter is beginning! I wondered how you would be able to stay away from exercising… 😉 Oh, and today SHOULD be Friday! Can’t wait for the long weekend.

I wish you could share those chocolates with me too…… I am always in awe of your creations! I have just been doing some baking to take round to my friends house as she’s having a dinner party tonight and my attempts are very much “home-made” – ha ha ha – my carrot cupcakes have exploded all over the tops of the muffin cases and my other “creation” – Jo’s chocolate brownie bars (yes, I just made it up as I went along) is simply hilarious – they do taste good though if I do say so myself .. (feeling a little ill from sugar overload – hands are shaking while i type!!!)

Mmmm I think it looks beautiful to me. When you have some downtime I highly recommend the book The Sharper Your Knife the Less You Cry. It’s a memoir by a woman who left her office job to study at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. I’m only about 90 pages in but it’s a very enjoyable read.

    ModelBehavior,

Roy’s is the restaurant I’ve worked at for the last year. I started as a nightime hostess and sort of moved up to more of a front desk job (since we aren’t open for lunch)….I move in 1 month but since starting in a week I will have class in the morning, not night, I can’t work. So…it would kind of be silly to find a new job for 1 month and I do make some sort of an income as a writer (I write this blog online….haha), I am just planning on finally taking it easy for awhile—-working out, cooking and reading!

    Kelly,

I have it! I LOVE that book!!!! She did what my aim was—-write a culinary school memoir. Oh well, I still think I’m going to also..hopefully yall will buy it when its out in like 20 years. Haha! 🙂
