Hey y’all!
It’s time for another favorites post. Here’s everything I am currently loving now, from perfume to jewelry to books. A lot of this stuff I found out about from my blogger friends while in Ethiopia! As much as I love summer, I have to say — I am totally ready for fall! Boots, leggings and pumpkin spice lattes await.
Maddie & Sophie.I wouldn’t really call myself a perfume kind of girl. I mean, of course I like perfume but it’s very rare that I actually buy it for myself. I’ve been wearing Ralph Lauren Romance since about 11th grade. Haven’t we all? Anyway, my friend Shannon wore this perfume on our trip and as soon as she walked into the room, Emily and I both were like what are you wearing?! It smells fantastic. I proceeded to borrow it from her for the rest of the week and as soon as I got home I ordered some for myself. Absolutely obsessed. Definitely the best smelling perfume that I know of. Plus, it’s a roll-on, which I love because it’s easy to just keep in my purse and re-apply during the day!
Mudlove Bands. These sweet little colorful bracelets all are engraved with different inspirational words like “grace”, “change”, “beautiful” and “beloved”. And, when you purchase one, 20% of the proceeds go towards clean water efforts in the Central African Republic. Win, win.
Dr. Lewinn by Kinerase BB Cream. This is my first time trying out the ever popular BB cream and let’s just say I’m hooked. My friend Dana turned me onto this brand that you can actually find in your drugstore and it’s great. It acts as a serum, sunscreen and tinted moisturizer. My new daily makeup routine is just this cream, followed by a little blush and mascara…then, I’m set!
Friday Night Lights. What can I say? I’m stuck in 2006. Adam and I just started watching this right before I left for Ethiopia and since then, we’ve been averaging three episodes a night. Out of control and cannot be stopped. I am so behind the times.
La Soula Jewelry.Β Β Kim, the talented designer of this handmade jewelry line, SUPER generously gifted all the fashionABLE women in Ethiopia with gorgeous necklaces. It was such an amazing surprise — the ladies loved them!! She also made our team breathtaking black diamond necklaces. I can’t even tell you how special these necklaces are. I haven’t taken mine off since I got it two weeks ago and I’ve already received a dozen compliments. It’s so stunning and delicate. Thank you, Kim!
This mug. I mean…it’s a total no-brainer. Could you even get anything cuter? This mug has been permanently attached to my little paws ever since I got it last month. It makes me happy.
Β What Alice Forgot. I couldn’t put this book down on the plane. It was SO good! Basically, Alice hits her head during an exercise class and completely forgets the past 10 years of her life. When she comes to, she thinks it’s 1998 when her life was drastically different. I highly recommend this book for a good, fun end of summer read!
Little Houses for Emily. My friend McCall and her family are adopting a sweet little girl from the DRC {democratic republic of congo}. To help raise money for their adoption, she had the cute idea of having people assemble a little paper house and then fill it up with all the extra change they could find during the month of September, as they try to raise $5,000 to cover their referral costs. If you’d like to help out, email littelhousesforemily@outlook.com to get your own little house to print out!

August 26, 2013 at 4:35 amI loved “What Alice Forgot”! Such a great, easy summer read.
And my husband and I started Friday Night Lights too! So good. We get in a good 2-3 episodes a night and I’ve surprised myself with how drawn in I am. Is it weird that I love Riggins?!

August 26, 2013 at 9:39 amCannot stop binge watching Friday Night Lights!!! Sooo good. I like watching it now as there are no cliff hangers as you can just play the next one!
I tried BB cream for the first time this year as well and love it. I use Dr. Jart’s BB cream (from Birchbox) and am very happy with it. I love that it has SPF in it as well!

August 26, 2013 at 10:00 amI loved What Alice Forgot. It is a light and fun read, but it also helped remind me after 15 years of marriage to think back to the early years and what I love about my husband and to not let the details/stresses of our current life with 2 kids overshadow those feelings.

August 26, 2013 at 11:32 amI just finished reading Moriarty’s “The Husband’s Secret” and loved it. It has a lot of unexpected twists and turns, and the characters were very realistic and complex.

August 26, 2013 at 11:59 amI’m interested in smelling that perfume now!

August 26, 2013 at 12:02 pmSpeaking of perfume, you might like this book… Coming To My Senses. It’s autobiographical and the author lives in Austin. I found it interesting since I live in Dallas and she had some funny (and true) references between the two cities at the beginning of the book.

August 26, 2013 at 12:37 pm…am also in love with Friday Night Lights! I’m a Peace Corps Volunteer with lots of time on my hands so I discovered it last fall and couldn’t stop watching. I used to wake up at 6 a.m. and watch an episode every morning. It made me kind of homesick though…but I was so sad when it ended!
Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose!

August 28, 2013 at 7:57 amAlways find a few must-haves when you post your favorites. π Do you know if the perfume is available from any retailers? I love the sound of it, but at $50 I am a little nervous to just order it without trying it…wish my budget were more forgiving. Thank you!
jenna
August 28, 2013 at 8:41 amI don’t think so…I am pretty sure it’s only available through them online π
