Morning 🙂
We’ve just been relaxing over here on my mom’s last morning in California. For the last house, I’ve just sat in bed with my coffee, reading, and it’s felt amazing!
Oats!
This morning I used:
- 1/2 cup oats + 1/2 cup milk/water
- 1/2 banana
- 1/4th Honest Foods blueberry granola plank!
- TJ’s pumpkin butter
- TJ’s raw almond butter
So good! I loved the crunch and sweetness from the bit of granola plank. Thanks, Honest Foods, for sending me some delicious samples! 🙂

I’m about to throw on some gym clothes, hop on a conference call, and then drive my mom to the San Francisco airport. We are stopping somewhere on the coast for lunch and then it’ll be time to say goodbye. 🙁 Both my parents are coming for Christmas though so I’m already excited about that. I feel so far away over here sometimes!
Headed straight to the gym post-airport….be back later!

November 19, 2009 at 9:05 amSpending time with my mom is something that I appreciate more and more each year 🙂
I really like the soft baked granola bars that Honest Foods sent me, but I thought the planks were too hard. I also thought they were a bit too calorie dense – I had a hard time stopping at the 1/2 plank serving size.

November 19, 2009 at 9:07 amChristmas will be here before you know it!!
My mom lives in TX and my brother lives in souther Cali, while I am in MN. I agree that it is HARD at times living so far. But at times, I think it makes you grow closer. The time you get to actually spend with your family is now more special and cherished more. 🙂
Enjoy the morning with you mama!

November 19, 2009 at 9:51 amHahaha, this was the first foodie blog post i checked this morning, and before i even read what was in your bowl i said “hey TJ’s raw almond butter!!!”. My coworker was confused. I just picked up my first jar and glopped some into my oats this morning. YUM!

November 19, 2009 at 9:59 amBoooooo . .. . I hate good-byes! Though as I heard one guy say at the airport once, “It’s not good-bye, just see you later!”. I was already sniffling and that only made me cry harder!! 🙂
But how fun you get to have both your parents with you to celebrate Christmas California-style! They must be so proud of you and happy to know that you are happy. Have fun at the gym!

November 19, 2009 at 4:32 pmI love sitting in bed, drinking coffee and reading blogs. Unfortunately I have so much work to do that I don’t have too much time 🙁 Although I try to recreate it by reading my class readings in bed with coffee.
For some reason, reading about things like zoning or international development assistance just isn’t the same as reading about what people around the country are eating.
Such is life.

November 19, 2009 at 4:39 pmI’m sad for you that your Mom left today 🙁 Glad your parents are coming for Christmas, how exciting! I have been there…living exciting places far from home (chicago, paris). The experiences will stay with you always, even if you miss your parents and home from time to time. I finally settled down (after say 10 years of excitement!), got married and live around the corner from my parents. Meet Mom for workout classes and feel like I’ve had the best of both. Independent, fun, “me” time…and time to explore where I want to nest and settle…which is close to those I love. Enjoy your independent, free 20s!!

November 19, 2009 at 5:35 pmSounds like you’re going to have a lovely California Christmas with family. Believe it or not, it is possible to have a white Christmas up north (Auburn, Colfax, Truckee, Tahoe) there are wonderful places to ski.
Yummy oats! I’ve yet to experience the crunchiness of granola in them, will have to try it soon sometime.

November 19, 2009 at 10:42 pmI recogize those San Fran shots. Aah beautiful city. And the holidays really are the BEST time for being with family. It makes me miss living near my mom. A few days together isn’t much when you only get together every 3-4 months. It looks like you two had a fabulous time!
