I’m blogging from 35,000 feet in the air!
As I type, we are currently on route to Cincinatti and from there Milwaukee. I’m sandwiched in between my parents and since Ryan was sort of “late” in getting his flight, he actually lucked out and got a non-stop flight. This morning the alarm went off at 6 and we waited until all three alarms were dinging that we set. I felt like my eyes were glued shut! There wasn’t much time but I still managed to get something substantial in my tummy before heading out the door.
a banana with raw almond butter and unsweetened almond milk with chocolate Amazing Meal. I have to admit, I think all Amazing Grass products are best when mixed in a smoothie or at least sweetened vanilla almond milk, but this wasn’t too bad. It tasted like unsweetened chocolate milk and I instantly had a surge of energy. However I didn’t get to finish it in time and had to leave the rest in the car because we were at the airport without a second to spare. Once at the airport, I waited in the ridiculously long Starbucks line to get a double Awake tea. Booyah!
Now I have to say, I think I’m a pretty good traveler. I like to plan ahead and always bring a plethora of snacks because you never know what could happen! I brought two baggies for this trip:

We’ve got SuperFood, teas, almonds and bars. I love bringing teas, especially on airplanes because all you have to do is ask for a cup of hot water. Much better than getting a soda during beverage service, I’d say!
When we got to Cinci to change plans I was quite hungry—Starbucks oatmeal was perfect!

I’ve ordered a vivano smootie with soy! Just ask!
Have so much fun!
mmm bread is always best flaky in my opinion! i love croissants!
Hi Jenna! I work at Starbucks….you can order your vivanno with soy. You just can’t order frappuccinos with soy. Just ask for soy next time
Glad to hear you arrived safely! Yes, summers in Wisconsin are terrible… and they last until MAY! Haha, but our summers can definitely be fabulous. You couldn’t have picked a better weekend (weather-wise) to come visit. Have a wonderful time!!!
Your blog posts have come soooo far
I think you can order drinks at starbucks with soy, but it’s $.50 extra for a tall (and probably more expensive for larger drinks, and also depending on the store…)
I’m drooling over that croissant!
Hope you guys have a fun time at the wedding/wedding festivities!
There is an extra charge for soy but it doesn’t increase with size.
So cute! Hope u’re having a fab time! Cant wait for Part II x
Thanks for posting more pictures of Dexter! He is so sweet!
Enjoy Madison, such a cool college town, I’ve been there several times for continuing education seminars. I also traveled to Wisconsin for the exam for my professional license (I’m an architect)
The weather at home today hasn’t been too rainy, enjoy the change in climate! But we SO need the rain at the stadium, to grow the grass back that got damaged from SuperBowl. (What an ordeal THAT was!)
love that pic =)
can’t believe you have to pay for internet though! although, I’m thankful you did – so you can blog!
Go ahead and order the vivanno with soy! I order it with NF milk – very simple!
i had the strawberry vivano with soy yesterday!!!are you sure they don’t do it for the chocolate one? that sounds divineeee. lovelyphotos – your style is very sophisticated and pretty
Too funny! It seems I’m following you around now…First you inspired a trip to Charleston (thanks to the hubby’s air miles and hotel points!) and heading up to Kenosha to hang out with some Badger alum tomorrow. : )
Have fun in WI and enjoy the cool summer air and wedding!
Glad you made it safe and sound!! Your snacks make you look well prepared
Mmm, I love Tutto Pasta…it’s such a fun restaurant, right on State Street and everything. I’m quite jealous, I love Madison; all of my mom’s family lives there and my sister went to school at the UW, so it’s basically my second city.
Hi Jenna!! I hope you have a good trip! hey i have a question, is starbucks oatmeal any good? i haven’t tried it yet!! did you liked it?
and oh, snow!!! how beautiful!! i haven’t seen snow in like… 4 years or something!
You look so cute in your culinary gear
. Hehe, grandparents/parents always want to see us in our uniforms/school gear. I’m always extra prepared to when I go on trips—bag of nuts, green powder, fruits, snack bars, cereal, oatmeal, etc. It helps if you’re the kind of person who is always starving!
Oh croissants…how I love thee.
How cute are you in that pic in your uniform?! You look like a wee young lass!
Tutto is amazing – you will love it!
i’m so jealous- i went to uw, i love madison AND tutto pasta
hope you’re enjoying your weekend there!
So fun!!! Looks like it’s going to be a FABULOUS trip!!!
I stayed at the Westin La Paloma in Tucson last week, a very nice resort, and I was mad that I had to pay for internet as well. Funny since even some McDonald’s have WiFi these days. You’d think at least the nicer resorts would include the service without a fee. Have a great weekend!
Hi Jenna! If you have a couple hours in Milwaukee before you head to the airport, check out Beans & Barley cafe just north of Downtown near UW Milwaukee. It’s a vegetarian / vegan place that’s delish!
have funfunFUN! Can’t wait to hear about it!
Time with family will be so great. Enjoy!
i always pack lots of snacks for trips too. gotta be prepared! hope you’re having fun out there!
Mmm I love Vivannos! I hope you have a fab weekend!
awwww You’re so cute in your uniform. Sounds like a fun time. Enjoy it!
I tried their Vivanno smoothie yesterday and it was really good!
Have fun and enjoy your trip. I never thought to bring tea bags with me. Great idea! Sounds like you’ve had quite the journey today. Get some rest and don’t forget about our beautiful sunshine state.
Jenna,
I just want to say thank you SO MUCH for getting us the discount for the Amazing Meal!! I just received mine today.
Have fun!
haha I had to laugh at your travel food…so much like me!
Enjoy your trip hun!!
Hope you like Cinci! I’m from Columbus. Next time you’re in Ohio, shoot me an email!!! We’ll get together!
I just started reading your blog a few weeks ago, and LOVE that you’re in Madison for a wedding (my spouse and I got married in the Capitol there)…AND that you’re at Tutto Pasta for the rehearsal dinner, because that’s where we had ours! We had it in the beautiful atrium space…hope you’re enjoying it!
Enjoyed Madison part one. You certainly are the prepared traveler. Great idea with the teas on the airplane.
Can’t wait for part 2. Have fun!
You can get a Vivanno with soymilk. I order it like that every time and it has never been a problem. All you have to do is ask!
I hope you guys have a blast up here in the midwest!
Great planning ahead! It’s hard to have great food experiences while en route unless you bring your own. Have fun at the rehearsal!
mmmm Starbucks vivannos are AMAZING! I love them so much! I have not tried their oatmeal, but really want to know, haha!
You were in my hometown, you should try shainghi mama’s or melt, if you ever come back. smart traveler with your snacks. Enjoy your weekend, and have a safe trip home. b
I love all of the treats that you packed for the flights! I hope that you have a nice weekend.
Is Ryan older than you? He definitely looks older in the pictures. I hope you have a great time at the wedding.
Donna,
R is 8 years older than me.
I work at Starbucks and i’ve made plenty of Vivanos with soy (not vegan though, cause the protein powder we put in it is whey protein). You can use any milk preference on any drink!
That oatmeal looks great, but it IS a bummer that it’s not vegan.
Have fun this weekend!
I work at Starbucks– you can definitely get soymilk in any vivanno instead of 2%
Ha, I worked at Starbucks and was going to tell you about the soy milk thingy… but looks like the hoards of other Sbux employees have already done that!!
Starbucks is surprisingly great at customizing drink orders, seriously. They’ll make anything for you, and refund/exchange it if it tastes yucky!
I don’t know anything about Wisconsin except there’s a lot of cheese?
Hope you’re having a great time!!!
The restaurant looks lovely and that lasagna looks incredible. Glad you are having a good time! Enjoy the Farmer’s Market (and the wedding)!!
What a fun trip! Festivities and family make for a great holiday weekend! Thanks for blogging even though it cost.
They will make it with soy milk if you just ask! I get nonfat milk instead of 2% all of the time!
