Breakfast

OTR

Wow, sorry about that. I needed a little break from humanity yesterday. We all have those days, right? I ended up going to a meeting at work and then heading out to Healdsburg to meet some friends for jazz in the park and dinner. Sometimes all you need in life is a little dancing and french fries to make everything better. However, because going to the jazz concert was a glorious spontaneous decision, I was sans camera and therefore, last night was sort of OTR (off the record).

Let’s start over.

Good morning!

Just cleaned my breakfast plate:

IMG_9007
This morning I had two HempPlus waffles with egg whites and maple syrup, plus a huge grapefruit. I’ve missed grapefruits—during the winter I probably ate one a day!
After this lil breakfast digests, I’m heading to the gym. I’m still doing Gina’s Summer Shape Up because I love it! It really helps me to go to the gym with a plan in mind rather than just wandering aimlessly, toting the latest issue of US weekly.
I think it’s almost time for the next ELR Book Nerd Club discussion! How many of you have read The Help and want to chat about it on Monday? I read the book over Mother’s Day weekend when I was visiting my mom and Grandma in Wisconsin (yes, I read the whole book in ONE weekend because it was that good!).
Speaking of reading, right now I am reading Not My Daughter by Barbara Delinsky and CANNOT put it down! I’ve never read anything else by her and checked this book out of the library a few weeks ago on a whim. I started it two days ago and am completely absorbed in the story. All I want to do is sit on the couch and read, read, read! It’s seriously that good and makes the elliptical almost bearable.
Okay….gym!

I ADORED “The Help.” I honestly haven’t found one person who’s read it and NOT liked it. (We also read “American Wife” and loved that, too. Keep the awesome recommendations coming!) Have you read “Little Bee?” I just started and it’s very good so far – something I think you’d like judging from your other reads.

I LOVED The Help. My mother grew up in Mississippi (so did I) during the time period and when she recommended the book to me she handed it to me and said “this was my life.” How cool is that? They are in the process of filming the movie in the town where I grew up!

You mentioned one of the most misunderstood and powerful superfoods in the world: the grapefruit!

High vitamin C, a good dose of pectin fiber, LYCOPENE, and a whole lot of fat busting goodness.

I recommended The Help to my sister, who sits in front of the TV all day and refuses to read. I know she would love this book. How can I convince her? I’m at wits’ end.

By the by, you need to check out Isabel’s site when you get a chance. She’s over at http://www.TheDietSolutionProgram.com. I think we need to start a coalition of healthy, common sense bloggers.
