Dinner/ Lunch

Returned From Sea

Happy Memorial Day!

I attended a fantastic Memorial Day service at church yesterday morning all about finding hope when you feel hopeless. Hit very close to home after all the recent events, that’s for sure! I can’t believe its already Memorial Day…..can you??

Sorry for my lack of post last night but, like our fishing trips seem to go, we didn’t get home until MIDNIGHT and I was so tired I couldn’t even see straight. Let alone open up my laptop. I showered and fell right into bed. We had a good time but were gone a loooong time and didn’t get to eat dinner until 10:45. NOT my style and believe me, I was as cranky as ever. But here’s a full recap!

Before we left yesterday I made a filling lunch, which was a good idea it turned out since my next meal would not be for another almost 12 hours. Meh.

A morningstar farms pizza burger (LOVE these!) wrapped up in an Ezekiel wrap with 1/2 of an mashed avocado. Tasty, quick and super filling! Plus the last grapefruit with a little agave squeezed over! 🙂

img_65071

When fishing with Ryan I know we are in the long haul so I am always sure to pack essentials. Yesterday I packed snacks—-

img_6511

The other half of my One Lucky Duck raw granola bar, carrot sticks and an orange

img_65121

Plus a total change of clothes (jeans and long sleeve t-shirt), a book, a magazine, a journal, a liter of water and a hairbrush. I’m very glad I packed each one of those things, I tell ya!

For the first time in an entire week, the weather was perfect and after we caught bait and anchored up we made some mojitos!

img_6513

img_6515

Ryan made the mojitos from adding light rum to a mix at home and we brought organic mint and tons of ice onboard! I LOVE mojitos!

We never caught anything but had fun regardless. However, around 7:30 I started getting very antsy to say the least. I was cold, I had to pee and I was hungry. The terrible three. Don’t mess with Jenna when she’s hungry!!!!! Ryan knows that very, very well.

img_65201

I’m not trying to say Ryan is insensitive, which is definitely is not. Ryan is just a hard core fisherman and when the fish are out (or he thinks they are out), we stay out. I ate my orange and read my book.

Finally we got back to the dock around 8:30, cleaned the boat for an hour and headed to BJ’s Brewhouse for dinner. I was so hungry I could have eaten cardboard!! Of course I ordered something I knew would come out very fast, even though it wasn’t the healthiest option! I started with a cup of the tomato soup, which was more like a thick bisque and probably full of cream but it tasted like the best thing I’ve ever had after being so hungry!

img_65231

And for my entree, I ordered the BBQ Chicken Chopped Salad with shrimp instead of chicken and the dressing on the side. Sorry for the blurry picture….my camera is on its last leg!

img_6528

Being the guy he is, Ryan ordered the bacon cheeseburger and I’m not going to lie, I went to TOWN on his fries. I ate almost all of them!!!  I was starving and they were piping hot seasoned thick cut fries. Nothing tastes as good as a fry when you are really, really hungry! Am I right or am I right?! The salad came with onion rings on it but I took them all off. Not a fan.

We got home around midnight and I fell into bed. This morning, woke up at 7:30 and made a big bowl of Optimum cereal (1.5 servings) with a banana in unsweetened vanilla hempmilk with white tea on the side. Mmmmm

img_65341

I feel so sleepy though I might go back to bed and lay down!! Hey, its a holiday! 😉 I am planning on going to a 10:00 spinning class this morning but the rest of the day is up in the air. Ryan doesn’t have to work but I told him I was taking a break from the boat after yesterday’s exhusion so he might go with his dad instead.

I wish everyone a happy and healthy Memorial Day!

Being around me when I’m hungry, cold, and have to pee is like being around an angry bear! It’s a scary situation!! Sounds like you guys had a good time though 🙂

Hey Jenna Girl! I read your guest post on KERF and it was great! I love hearing about your experiences over there and love the French attitude about eating. It seems to fit right in with the idea of intuitive eating and feeding your body real food.

Will be thinking of you this Memorial Day and know you are always in my thoughts and prayers.

    hey jenna!
I really enjoyed your post over at KERF. Just yesterday I made my first-ever batch of homemade croissants. As I bit into one hot out of the oven at dinner time I was feeling guilty…Guilty!? why should I feel guilty? I worked all day on those croissants and they were perfect and golden brown. Its too bad the way we Americans can deprive ourselves of the joy of good food. Oh well, I quickly pushed the negative thoughts out of my mind and enjoyed my croissant 😉 Thanks for the reminder that good food, even good food with butter is really okay!

If I’m hungry, tired, cold, have to pee or without electricity (from a storm or something)–watch out. If any of those things are combined, it’s better to just evacuate the premises and return at a later time…

Glad you were able to enjoy the day and the sunshine. I’m a big snack packer myself (to avoid the situation above), but I think that long on the boat would have required more than one Mojito for me.

Nice guest post on KERF, as well. As they say, when in Rome…you have to try new things when you have the opportunity. I bet you haven’t had a croissant or coffee back home yet that quite compares!

Mojitos are my drink too. SO good. I hope to grow some mint this summer to make them, and maybe try some mint juleps too!

I’m with you on the fries thing. I have a lot of memories of being out with friends on Friday nghts in high school and dropping by this diner to order a HUGE tray of fries when we were all starving at 10 pm. Ahh… the memories of my high school metabolism… 😛

Those mojitos look really good, but they probably didn’t help the needing to pee situation. I’m glad to hear your are full, dry, warm, and back on dry land now! Great guest post.

Great post on KERF! I don’t know if I’ll ever get out of the American style of eating and thinking about food 🙁 I lived in Spain for a semester, and even though I walked a ton, I actually gained a few pounds…damn Spanish bakeries!

    Jenna-
I have to tell you that your post over at KERF really felt like you were writing specifically to me! I am going to Ireland on Saturday for school and I am so excited. I had a specific mindset in mind about making sure not to gain while I was there, but after reading your entry I have re-thought the idea and am going to eat what I want, as intuitively as I can! Thank you so much- it really hit home!
