You want to know what’s on my mind this very second?
Christmas Cookies. That’s what.
It’s officially two days after Thanksgiving now, which means I can listen to all the Christmas music and eat all the Christmas cookies that I want. I mean, isn’t that what people do in the days after Thanksgiving? We can now officially unpack our cookie cutters, invest in new sprinkles and icing and get to work. I think I’m also going to purchase my first Christmas tree this year (and pray that Dexter doesn’t scale it on a daily basis). Tell me I’m not the only one!!
To celebrate this joyous affair, here are five of my favorite seasonal cookie recipes.
Homemade Chocolate Covered Mint Oreos
Old Fashioned Gingerbread Cookies <——fav
Dark Chocolate Pistachio Biscotti
It’s time to put on your game face.

November 26, 2011 at 9:11 amOur family Christmas tree is a foot shorter than it’s original height (it’s an artificial tree) because of an incident with out cat. It involved her climbing the center, aaaand knocking it over.

November 26, 2011 at 9:17 amHa…we all must be in the cookie baking spirit! I made cookies this morning too! It was my reward for completing my scheduled long run! But I shared- I gave some to my mail lady!!
My cats don’t climb the Christmas tree, but they do like to play with the ornaments! When they were kittens, I was in the kitchen making homemade caramel. It was boiling away- and I was stirring away, and all of the sudden I could hear ornaments being batted around the living room. All I could do was yell at them from the kitchen. Effective? Not! So I’ve learned-the bottom of my tree is normally bare 🙂

November 26, 2011 at 9:27 amI can wait to start my Christmas cookie list either. Thanks for the ideas to get started! 🙂 My dog surprisingly doesn’t mess with our tree, she just loves to nap under it!

November 26, 2011 at 10:22 amI love christmas cookies. I have some in my freezer now and just had a couple for my lunchtime dessert (I kept them frozen to eat and they were surprisingly tasty at that rock-solid form).

November 26, 2011 at 10:35 amI’m going to check out your biscotti recipe because nothing pleases me more than a steamy hot cup of tea in December with a couple of biscotti to nibble on.
Lovely post. 😀

November 26, 2011 at 10:48 amHi Jenna,
I’m looking for a store-bought (for ease) granola to expand my granola horizons. Have you ever tried the “Enjoy Life” granolas? Any good?
Also, have you ever tried the “Food for Life” brown rice breads? I’m looking for new bread ideas for my breakfasts and lunch meals.
I had your recent rice dish as a side for dinner recently and it was good.

November 26, 2011 at 12:06 pmBy Halloween, I was already ready for Christmas and holiday baking season 🙂
I like pumpkin and all, and Thanksgiving food is way more my husband’s thing, but Xmas baking is where it’s at for me! Love it!
And thanks for the reminder on your gingerbread cookies…I love ginger and molasses cookies so much.

November 26, 2011 at 12:19 pmWe put up our tree and decorated our house ON Thanksgiving. We have four cats and with exception of our tortoiseshell who thinks the tree (a fake) is a tasty snack, they are much more interested in sleeping on the tree skirt (a blanket) than knocking over the tree and ornaments. We didn’t decorate the bottom of the tree, though, as a preventative measure.

November 26, 2011 at 4:00 pmI’m totally in the mood for Christmas too. Sean and I finally moved in together, almost a month now, and I bought us our first Christmas tree. It’s still bare (I want us to decorate together) but our two cats are doing a fine and dandy job of rubbing their faces against the tips and trying to eat them.

November 26, 2011 at 4:08 pmMy 3 older sisters and my mom always have a Christmas cookie exchange! We each make 2 dozen cookies for each of us and then turn around and make them into cookie gifts for neighbors, work, etc. I LOVE it!!! I’ll be doing my own cookie countdown starting on the 12th!!

November 27, 2011 at 12:17 amI’d be a cooking making machine if I wasn’t working all weekend. But days off… game on! Oh and my cat loves to sleep IN my tree. She finds the branches of my artificial tree sturdy enough to be her bed. She makes one heck of an ornament.,

November 27, 2011 at 12:25 amI already listen to christmas music. My favorite: The Rat Pack singing christmas carols. But I want to start baking, too, so I it would be really nice if you had some vegan recipes to share… Please?!

November 27, 2011 at 7:01 pmChristmas cookies and music…works for me! 😉 Every year my Mom and I make a batch of biscotti. The kind changes from year to year…this dark chocolate pistachio one sounds like a winner. It’s a contender for this year’s celebration, for sure!

November 27, 2011 at 9:01 pmBiscotti is on my “must bake” list this year. I’m thinking of individually wrapping them with ribbon and a jingle bell to send home with my guests to enjoy for breakfast with their coffee as the family opens gifts. Dark chocolate and pistachio sounds like a winning combination.
