You want to know what’s on my mind this very second?
Christmas Cookies. That’s what.
It’s officially two days after Thanksgiving now, which means I can listen to all the Christmas music and eat all the Christmas cookies that I want. I mean, isn’t that what people do in the days after Thanksgiving? We can now officially unpack our cookie cutters, invest in new sprinkles and icing and get to work. I think I’m also going to purchase my first Christmas tree this year (and pray that Dexter doesn’t scale it on a daily basis). Tell me I’m not the only one!!
To celebrate this joyous affair, here are five of my favorite seasonal cookie recipes.
Homemade Chocolate Covered Mint Oreos
Old Fashioned Gingerbread Cookies <——fav
Dark Chocolate Pistachio Biscotti
It’s time to put on your game face.

First thing I’m doing this morning is making cookies. It’s just cookie baking season!
You are absolutely not the only one!! My sister and I are currently sitting, heads together, scrolling through all our cookie recipes making our official 2011 Christmas Cookie list!
Cookies cookies cookies… get in my belly!
Our family Christmas tree is a foot shorter than it’s original height (it’s an artificial tree) because of an incident with out cat. It involved her climbing the center, aaaand knocking it over.
Cats are so ballsy!
Ha…we all must be in the cookie baking spirit! I made cookies this morning too! It was my reward for completing my scheduled long run! But I shared- I gave some to my mail lady!!
My cats don’t climb the Christmas tree, but they do like to play with the ornaments! When they were kittens, I was in the kitchen making homemade caramel. It was boiling away- and I was stirring away, and all of the sudden I could hear ornaments being batted around the living room. All I could do was yell at them from the kitchen. Effective? Not! So I’ve learned-the bottom of my tree is normally bare
I can wait to start my Christmas cookie list either. Thanks for the ideas to get started!
My dog surprisingly doesn’t mess with our tree, she just loves to nap under it!
Love cookie season!!! Haha
Yes! I’m so ready for Christmas cookies too!!
I’m so ready for Christmas cookies! I made your mint oreos last year (skipped the chocolate coating though) and they were phenomenal. I will definitely be making them again!
I love christmas cookies. I have some in my freezer now and just had a couple for my lunchtime dessert (I kept them frozen to eat and they were surprisingly tasty at that rock-solid form).
I’m going to check out your biscotti recipe because nothing pleases me more than a steamy hot cup of tea in December with a couple of biscotti to nibble on.
Lovely post.
Hi Jenna,
I’m looking for a store-bought (for ease) granola to expand my granola horizons. Have you ever tried the “Enjoy Life” granolas? Any good?
Also, have you ever tried the “Food for Life” brown rice breads? I’m looking for new bread ideas for my breakfasts and lunch meals.
I had your recent rice dish as a side for dinner recently and it was good.
Christmas cookies are soooo on my mind right now too! Thanks for sharing some recipes.
By Halloween, I was already ready for Christmas and holiday baking season
I like pumpkin and all, and Thanksgiving food is way more my husband’s thing, but Xmas baking is where it’s at for me! Love it!
And thanks for the reminder on your gingerbread cookies…I love ginger and molasses cookies so much.
We put up our tree and decorated our house ON Thanksgiving. We have four cats and with exception of our tortoiseshell who thinks the tree (a fake) is a tasty snack, they are much more interested in sleeping on the tree skirt (a blanket) than knocking over the tree and ornaments. We didn’t decorate the bottom of the tree, though, as a preventative measure.
that’s really good to know!
Christmas cookies are where it’s at.. Totally my fav part of the holidays (besides family of course)!
I’m super excited to bake too! Just bought some new vanilla! We put some lights on the bushes in the front yard before Thanksgiving and we’ll probably get a Christmas tree tomorrow.
yeaaaaaa!!!! i also purchased my first (fake) christmas tree as well! exciting isn’t it
i’d love to see how you decorate yours!
please put up pix of your tree
Thanks for posting these links!
you’re definitely not the only one — i can’t wait to make christmas cookies
I’m scoping out some stores tomorrow for new sprinkles!
I’m totally in the mood for Christmas too. Sean and I finally moved in together, almost a month now, and I bought us our first Christmas tree. It’s still bare (I want us to decorate together) but our two cats are doing a fine and dandy job of rubbing their faces against the tips and trying to eat them.
My 3 older sisters and my mom always have a Christmas cookie exchange! We each make 2 dozen cookies for each of us and then turn around and make them into cookie gifts for neighbors, work, etc. I LOVE it!!! I’ll be doing my own cookie countdown starting on the 12th!!
Mmm I can’t wait to get my bake on!
Ha. Makes me think of this:

I started last night with cranberry chocolate chip cookies! I love baking and cooking around Christmas time, but I’m too lazy to decorate. We haven’t had a legit Christmas tree in 2 years. Call me Scrooge.

Oh my goodness! That first photo of the peanut butter cups got me. Delicious! =)
Cookies sound so good right now. Sadly I have sworn of sugar. Ideally for the rest of the year bit more likely just for a few days.
We started decorating for Christmas ON Thanksgiving! haha
I’d be a cooking making machine if I wasn’t working all weekend. But days off… game on! Oh and my cat loves to sleep IN my tree. She finds the branches of my artificial tree sturdy enough to be her bed. She makes one heck of an ornament.,
I already listen to christmas music. My favorite: The Rat Pack singing christmas carols. But I want to start baking, too, so I it would be really nice if you had some vegan recipes to share… Please?!
I already did my first round of holiday baking yesterday! I made Nanaimo bars while listening to Michael Buble’s Christmas songs. It was glorious.
O love biscotti this time of year! I’ll give your recipe a try, but Gingerbread biscotti own my soul, half dipped in chocolate, so yummy!
I never make Gingerbread Cookies. I’m always too caught up in chocolatey goodness. But I think I shall try this year…spice things up! Is 9am too early to start baking?
We are so alike. I start Christmas so early too! I started one week before Thanksgiving this year actually. Decorations, already working on cards, and I know what cookies I am baking too. But I will for sure be checking out all of these you posted.
How could I not?
Delicious! Great links and yes!!! We got our first Christmas tree this weekend. Our apt is so cozy now.
Well now I’m craving a cookie….
You are a girl after my own heart. Christmas cookies are my fave..try Santa’s Whiskers!!
O’m'gosh, I absolutely cannot wait to start Christmas baking! And drinking ample amounts of hot cocoa. And knitting.
Oh Christmas!
Oh, my game face is ON. One advantage of Canada’s October Thanksgiving = Christmas cookies a month earlier
Christmas cookies and music…works for me!
Every year my Mom and I make a batch of biscotti. The kind changes from year to year…this dark chocolate pistachio one sounds like a winner. It’s a contender for this year’s celebration, for sure!
Biscotti is on my “must bake” list this year. I’m thinking of individually wrapping them with ribbon and a jingle bell to send home with my guests to enjoy for breakfast with their coffee as the family opens gifts. Dark chocolate and pistachio sounds like a winning combination.
We JUST bought a doughnut pan at an estate sale, and I’m sooo excited to try your Baked Spice Doughnuts! I clearly still haven’t gotten over the pumpkin cravings yet.
Ummm delicious
I’m dying over those yoga cookie cutters! They are too cute. I’m putting them on my Christmas wishlist.
I look forward to Christmas cookies and putting up the Christmas tree allllll year!
I’ve been trying to wait until Dec 1st to start the Christmas obsession, but screw it. I just hit play on my Christmas playlist.
