1. Ribs. Ever since last Friday when we had ribs marinated in the most finger lickin’ dr. pepper barbecue sauce, I just can’t get them out of my head! If you have a really great rib recipe, please send it my way!
2. Mangoes! They’re on sale right now 5 for $5 at whole foods and I can’t get enough. I see mango salsa and mango crisp in my future…what about you?
3. Smashbox creme eyeliner in Midnight Purple. Last week in Austin, my friend Morgan (who is an amazing make-up artist!) introduced me to using dark purples and plums on my eyes. Purple is a lot more forgiving than black and gives a nice, soft look that makes blue eyes pop (note: it doesn’t really look that purple when it’s on…I promise!).
4. Old Navy. Did you snag some sweet deals at the 30% off sale that went on at Banana, Gap and Old Navy last week? I got a cute pair of sandals, two dresses and a skirt for only $50! Now the sun just needs to come out so I can wear said sundresses.
5. MAC eyeshadow in swiss chocolate. Going back to eye make-up, Morgan used this color on my eyes all last week and I fell in love…then immediately ordered some from the MAC website when I got home. It’s the perfect shade of pinky-brown (and looks great with the midnight purple eyeliner).
6. Eggs. Would you believe me if I told you I literally eat an egg and cheese burrito every day for lunch? Because I do. I really, really do.
7. Casual long dresses. I got this one two years ago on sale at Macy’s, but have seen some super cute ones at Anthropologie, Old Navy and Nordstroms.
8. Chicago style pizza. I may never actually have had it in Chicago, but I tried it at a restaurant in Petaluma two weeks ago and fell completely in love. Oh, the crust!!!! Thin crust is for sissies.
9. Farmer’s markets. While ours is open all year, I’m just now getting in the habit of going . It’s the most relaxing part of my entire week and I love all the fresh produce that is popping up everywhere!
10. Nature. I’m having a serious Yosemite itch but need to wait till May when the weather’s nicer. Nature is where I can reconnect with God and myself, and where I do all my thinking and relaxing.
Note that this photo was taken 12 hours before Adam busted his shoulder on the slopes. He should have listened to me when I said stay in the hammock…

March 24, 2011 at 1:30 pmWhen I toured the culinary school I’m about to start at (next Monday, yay!), I got to go into one of the classroom kitchens and watch…and there were trays of ribs everywhere. The entire room smelled like barbecue sauce. It was an amazing moment.

March 25, 2011 at 6:42 amI’ve always been told that purple liner would make my GREEN eyes pop….is this like the miracle makeup or is somebody pulling our legs?! 🙂
Amy
March 26, 2011 at 5:06 pmI’ve been told the same thing about making brown eyes pop. I think Seventeen magazine in the mid-90s taught me that purple shadow/liner + brown eyes = POP! It must be a miracle color. 🙂

March 24, 2011 at 1:36 pmWhat a gorgeous dress! I know the dresses you’re talking about from Anthro. Absolutely beautiful. Although, sometimes it’s best if I just look at the clothes and not the prices.
you’re incredibly lucky that your farmer’s market is open all year. mine starts next Saturday!

March 24, 2011 at 1:40 pmI love Old Navy because even though their quality is suspect their stuff lasts long enough for the summer season and it’s cheap!

March 24, 2011 at 1:56 pmJealous that your farmer’s markets are open year round! Though I’m in Chicago and can get deep dish pizzas year round. But I don’t think it’s a fair trade off. Anyways, if you’re looking to make a deep dish pizza at home, use a springform pan. Put down your pizza crust, add toppings, and bake in the oven at 475* for about 30-40 minutes.

March 24, 2011 at 2:12 pmYou two are TOO cute!! Would you consider giving a little mango tutorial? I LOVE eating sliced mango. YUM. But hate buying it whole and dealing with it. I end up with a sticky mess and minimal fruit. Just a thought… ;o)

March 24, 2011 at 2:31 pmYou definitely need to have deep dish in Chicago! I had had it before in other places that called it Chicago-style pizza before I lived here and I have to tell you, it does not compare. You have to find the right spots to go to though. If you make it out this way in the near future we will have to discuss. Adorable photo of you two smooching. Happy Thursday!

March 24, 2011 at 2:34 pmJenna, I love this post!!
First, the makeup talk….love makeup discussion and MAC. I am actually on my way to the MAC store…in like 10 mins! I have to exchange some powder. Some of the MAC eyeshawdows in plums and purples are so vibrant and have so much depth of pigment, if you love purple on your eyes, check out some of the Mac shadows too. I dig Smashbox, also. Also if you want a really pretty shimmery-ish brown, check out Amber Lights by Mac. Love.It.
Love Anthro clothes, too. Who doesnt!
And that kiss photo…omg it’s just awesome! Such a great shot, frame it!

March 24, 2011 at 3:55 pmIs the Chicago-style pizza you had from the restaurant by McNear’s Mystic Theatre? It’s my absolute favorite! Every time my boyfriend’s band plays a concert in Petaluma, that pizza is our pre-show ritual.

March 24, 2011 at 8:24 pmHey,
Just so you know, I’ve read your blog daily for years and this has to be my first comment. You make that dress, that hammock and chicago style pizza all look good!! Good for you and thanks for the heads up on purple eyeliner, I’ve been wearing it at night for a while and think daytime may be more ‘foregiving’. Either way loved this post!
Thanks,
Colleen
P.S. Get some chicago style pizza, it’ll change your life 🙂

March 24, 2011 at 9:17 pmYou’ll love mango salsa. I’m thinking of making quesadillas this weekend and my favorite organic brand (Wild Harvest) makes a good mango salsa!
Oh, that sounds like a great sale but fortunately (or unfortunately) I’m about to pay off the tab on my last Gap shopping spree! (Got two cardigans and an entire new outfit for Spring in the sale)
I love eggs too…. I really should switch to egg whites but I like the egg yolks just as much especially for dipping… Have you made dippy eggs with soldiers yet? I may just post the recipe shortly on my blog soon.

March 25, 2011 at 1:49 amJenna, if you’re currently digging mangoes , you have got to come to Mumbai! They are so in season right now and have never tasted anything like this. March 25, 2011 at 4:32 amThe Boy was in Chicago a couple weeks ago on business and brought me back some Chicago deep-dish pizza. Heavenly. Greasy. Delicious. But not heavy. I fell in love with pizza alllll over again.
And, I love Farmer’s Markets. I grew up in Athens, Ohio, and the market there is divine – local produce, eggs, meat, locally made cheese, bread, salsa, patries.. flowers. I miss is sooo much in the summertime.

March 25, 2011 at 9:05 amI use purple eyeliner for my blue eyes too! I notice a big difference with it compared to my old black, and I get a lot more make-up and eye compliments when I wear the purple.
And thin crust pizza is such a waste. When done well, the dough/crust is the best part!
