Grocery Shopping and a Little Treat ;)

Can I please just announce that I am a GROCERY SHOPPING GODDESS! I bought every single thing I needed (well I forgot one can of diced tomatoes…but cut me some slack here!) and only spent $38.00. A new record!!!!! Since I was so good at the grocery store I figured I deserved a little present…..

Yep, that’s right! How excited am I?! I actually bought it before going grocery shopping (I figured I would be good) and it totally changed my list!!! I am making my first recipe out of it tonight and can’t wait to try everything because every single recipe appeals to me and the photos are gorgeous. I’m actually just about to sit down and read the entire thing front to back….because that’s what I do! Yay! 🙂

But first–let’s backtrack. Today I went to lunch with my mom at our favorite–California Pizza Kitchen. I had my usual cup of vegetarian split pea soup but decided to branch out a little from my typical Mediterranean salad and get the new Miso salad instead. It was really yummy, full of edamame, avocado and shredded cabbage. It was just like air though….seriously. I ate the whole thing and was still starving afterwards! There was just no weight to it since it consisted of sliced cabbage and these cellophane rice noodles. The taste was great but not filling enough for this girl! I waited about 2 hours later to have my trail mix as a snack and finally felt “full”.

I’ve got a ton of cleaning up/picking up/cookbook reading to do before I have to start dinner! See you in a few!

    Haha, I hate “air food”

Does that small amount of trail mix really fill you? I know it’s calorie dense, but I always need more. How do you make it satisfy you.

    Very impressive grocery shop!

i found that with trail mix and most calorie-dense foods (dried fruits, etc.), if you really eat slow & challenge yourself to take sips of water/pauses between bites, it is easier to detect hunger signals and be satisfied with what looks like too small of a portion.

Actually, trail mix really does fill me up! I think its because of the healthy fat in the nuts…I don’t specifically measure how many nuts versus seeds and fruits I put in but it seems like each little baggie has around 8-10 cashews in it, plus pumpkin seeds and dried fruit! This trail mix actually fills me up way more than if I were to just eat a Kashi granola bar. Good thing I love nuts so much!!!

Wow!Congrats on getting all that food for $38.

ED&BV was the first cookbook I ever bought. I LOVE it. I can’t get enough of it! Sometimes I’m a bit iffy about trying some recipes but they turn out great everytime.

You are going to absolutely LOVE those gardenburger meatless riblets, if you’re a fan of sweet BBQ sauce. They are one of my absolute favorites! I can’t wait to see what you pair them with! I got my family to try them too (They’re major omnivores) and I’ve caught them stealing mine out of the freezer numerous times afterwards! We’re hooked!

Yum! The gardenburger bbq riblets are one of my favorites!! So much flavor, you’ll love them! Also, if you’re ever in Santa Cruz, Ca you have to go to Saturn Cafe. It’s an awesome vegetarian restaurant with the option of making most meals vegan. It has a great atmosphere and it’s very quirky. So just travel across the US and try it! 🙂
