Holy moly! These are delicious.
So delicious that last night when a few girlfriends over for dinner we drank Prosecco out of water glasses and gnawed on them frozen straight out of the freezer. Is that classy or what?!
Basically, they are a glorified bar cookie with a shortbread-style crust, a thick layer of gooey chocolate chips and a crunchy brown sugar meringue topping. I actually made them a few weeks ago to take on our 4th of July road-trip to Tahoe.
Adam said they were the best thing I’ve ever made!
I think I’ll keep him around awhile.
Head over to the Tasty Kitchen Blog for the step-by-step photo recipe!

What excuse can I use to make these???
‘It’s Thursday’ seems like a good enough reason to make these =D
amen
My mouth is water just looking at these! Nothing is better then gooey melty chocolate!
I really have to stop reading your posts in the morning – it makes me crave these delicious things for breakfast (not exactly a breakfast of champions). Can’t wait to make this!

Ditto. But only because I actually DID eat too much of sweets the night before – and need to forget about it!
I bet they were a HUGE HIT at the 4th! ….Yah, keep a boy who gives you compliments, they are totally awesome when they do that.
They sound delicious! I love cookie bars.
omg… these look incredible. Like Molly above me (haha, same name!) I’m racking my brain to find excuses to make these puppies…but who needs an excuse?! What better way to celebrate Thursday then to stuff my face with these?!
HEAVEN!
Aaaah! I love shortbread. This looks like the best recipe ever
I must try this…like right now. Wish I had some in MY freezer
I love butterscotch and I love meringues, put them together and it sounds magical. Butterscotch is one of those old time favorite sweets, my dads favorite and it always makes me feel like I’m back in the 50′s with my heels and apron on making butterscotch blondies for Leave it to Beaver and Wally haha.
that looks amazing!!!!
Ooooh my goodness. The title and the first photo of this post got me VERY exited, like a kid walking into a candy store (or me, walking into Lululemon or Whole Foods). Heading over to the recipe now!
wow. every morning i read these posts and want them at 8AM!! …great photos, they look so tasty
heh don’t you love when the guy says they are the best things you’ve made? I think Eric says that about every second thing he tries. They know how to make a girl happy!
Decadent…delicious…butterscotch! Yummy!
Oh my those look outrageous!
Oo this is so original–love it!

Haha wow – the best thing you ever made?? That is a high mark of approval! I agree though – he’s a keeper
These look phenomenal as always!
These look amazing. I think they would be a big hit anywhere!
I actually like to eat desserts like this frozen more than I do hot. Unless eating them hot means there will be a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Then I choose hot. But frozen cookies/brownies/bars are so chewy! These look decadent and delicious.
desserts straight out of the freezer are the best. I’m usually not a huge meringue fan, but these look delicious!
These look so delicious and unigue….love it girl!
These looks absolutely amazing! I bet they’d taste fab cold, too!
A meringue topping?? Very creative!
Sounds like a great night!
These look deadly. Love this!
you want me to be fat again, don’t you?
Good Lord. Save me.
I love butterscotch…and now I love these.

Going on my must make list!
These look delicious! Thank goodness it’s marathon training season and I can indulge every now and again. Mmmmmmm!
wow, these look amazing! i need to stop making so many desserts, but this is going on the list.
nevermind- i’m making it tonight, haha!
Oh my goodness. Actually drooling over here.
These look Amazingggg
Totally understand staying in the PJ’s until noon. I even rationalize walking my dog in my nightgown. It kinda looks like a dress, right? Right? Anyway, just want to say that I’ve been lurking on your blog since I read about it in “Health” magazine. I love what you’re doing, and I’m completely on board with you adding more fashion posts. I’ve been stalking “J’s Everyday Fashion” for outfit ideas, so I’m looking for all the help I can get. Gotta find a way to punch up my nightgown.
Keep up the great work!
These look amazing! What a great recipe!
Oh my, that brown sugar meringue topping is too tempting!
I need to make these now!
I totally want to come to one of your ladies nights
