Holy moly! These are delicious.
So delicious that last night when a few girlfriends over for dinner we drank Prosecco out of water glasses and gnawed on them frozen straight out of the freezer. Is that classy or what?!
Basically, they are a glorified bar cookie with a shortbread-style crust, a thick layer of gooey chocolate chips and a crunchy brown sugar meringue topping. I actually made them a few weeks ago to take on our 4th of July road-trip to Tahoe.
Adam said they were the best thing I’ve ever made!
I think I’ll keep him around awhile.
Head over to the Tasty Kitchen Blog for the step-by-step photo recipe!

July 21, 2011 at 5:22 amI love butterscotch and I love meringues, put them together and it sounds magical. Butterscotch is one of those old time favorite sweets, my dads favorite and it always makes me feel like I’m back in the 50’s with my heels and apron on making butterscotch blondies for Leave it to Beaver and Wally haha.

July 21, 2011 at 7:06 amI actually like to eat desserts like this frozen more than I do hot. Unless eating them hot means there will be a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Then I choose hot. But frozen cookies/brownies/bars are so chewy! These look decadent and delicious.

July 21, 2011 at 5:49 pmTotally understand staying in the PJ’s until noon. I even rationalize walking my dog in my nightgown. It kinda looks like a dress, right? Right? Anyway, just want to say that I’ve been lurking on your blog since I read about it in “Health” magazine. I love what you’re doing, and I’m completely on board with you adding more fashion posts. I’ve been stalking “J’s Everyday Fashion” for outfit ideas, so I’m looking for all the help I can get. Gotta find a way to punch up my nightgown.
Keep up the great work!
