Lunch

Change of Plans

Well, my mom ended up having a meeting she coudn’t get out of and Ryan had to go to work so I was on my own for lunch! I really really wanted to stop at my favorite bakery/cafe and pick up a sandwich but one of my New Year’s resolutions is to spend less money and be more careful with it, so I ventured over to my parent’s house to see what I could find in the fridge. It ended up not being half bad! I made a grilled cheese sandwich with 2 slices of thinly sliced provolone (60 calories per slice) on whole wheat bread and had a side of the Fresh Market’s barbecued baked beans (1/2 cup) and a sliced pear. It was warm and filling! I’m still waiting around to hear from work to see if I have to go in tonight or if I’m called off. They don’t make the schedule until 2:00 though so I have some time to kill….I think I’m just going to take a rest day from working out seeing as when I woke up this morning it was FREEZING outside and I really just didn’t feel like it. I’m going to go to a yoga class tomorrow though and run on Sunday morning so today is a good day to rest.

Have a great Friday! 🙂

This lunch was about 533 calories (and yes, that is ketchup to the side of my sandwich…I love dipping my grilled cheese in it!)

Hi Jenna! Love your blog! I just had a question about going to culinary school. I am very interested in it, but I don’t know who to talk to. I have looked in to the Cordon Bleu programs and I am interested in maybe their San Francisco school. Did you take the basic culinary arts program? Was it a good experience? Thanks for the advice!

    Hi Courtney!

The best way to learn more about culinary school is to read this blog! I just started at the cordon bleu’s orlando school in october so I’m right in the midst of it! I enjoy it a lot but since I’m not there to be a chef really, I’m sort in the minority. Also, there are many more guys than girls! It’s not what I imagined and at the same time it’s more than I ever imagined…I love learning every single thing I can about food and its awesome being around people everyday that love nothing more than talking about food, eating food and learning more about food! I am enrolled in the basic culinary arts program and start Baking 1 on monday!

hey Jenna, love the blog! If you’re not in culinary school to be a chef, are you using it to get education for some other career path? Or just for fun? Have a great weekend!

I’m in culinary school to be a food writer! My lifelong goal is to write cookbooks but I might dabble in personal chef work once I’m done….Just no restaurant chef work!
