You guys!
Thank you all so much to everyone who came out yesterday afternoon to Omnivore Books! I know I probably sound like a broken record by now, but it means the WORLD to me. Y’all really know how to make a girl feel special. I am so thankful for each of you! Thank you for bringing your hugs, warm smiles and happy spirits to the bookstore yesterday. I so appreciate it.
{thank you, Hannah, for the photo!}
Yay! I was so nervous but seeing all your grinning faces put me right at ease. I love you all!
Now, let’s talk about these cookies. And how you need to go gather some zucchini right now! Like, out in your yard….or at the nearest grocery store. Oh man, are these ever good! They are the perfect combination of fudgy {seriously- they are like gooey brownies!} and crunchy, and you’d never guess in a million years that they are chock-full of veggies.
I LOVE these cookies {original recipe by Julia!} and was so excited to re-create them on The Tasty Kitchen Blog a few weeks ago. I was a liiiiiiiiiittle hesitant, though, because while I love zucchini bread, I had never had chocolate zucchini anything before. I wasn’t quite sure how the combination would work.
But, they did! Oh, did they ever.
They are supremely chocolatey and ooey gooey, with crunchy crackly powdered sugar tops. You’re going to love these! They really do remind me of brownies…in the shape of cookies.

I’ve been enjoying reading about your book tour and seeing the whole process of you finishing and publishing your book! This is a wonderful acheivement!
Jenna, thank you so much for choosing to bake my cookies and I’m so glad you enjoyed them! You made them look fabulous in those gorgeous photos and I truly appreciate your kind words. Thank you, thank you and big congrats again on your book tour!!
Jenna, just to let you know the link you attached to my name (Julia) points to a different food blog…my blog is http://www.roastedrootfood.com. The site you have it pointed to is also called The Roasted Root (same name as my blog), but was created by a different woman. Just thought I’d let ya know
Thanks again.
Jenna, I am SO disappointed I couldn’t make it yesterday
Have had it on my calendar ever since you announced it, but the combination of BART being down for an hour and the 49ers game down the freeway from Omnivore made traffic from East Bay horrendous, worse than any rush hour I have ever seen. I know you have another in SF later this month…any others on the horizon for No Cal?
I am so happy you had a wonderful turn out, all your readers love you!
It’s ok! I will be back in San Francisco for another signing on october 19th
YAY!!!!!
So glad the signing went well! I finally finished your book over the weekend.
p.s. Chocolate always makes anything taste better.
These look absolutely devine and I will definitely go check out the recipe!! Can’t wait to read your book. Maybe eventually it will be on audible.com? I mostly have to listen, as I do a lot of driving, but don’t have a lot of time to sit down with a book.
I love it when veggies are hidden in desserts! It’s the perfect justification for having more dessert!!
Making these tonight! They look so delicious! Thanks for sharing.
You go girl!! If you were coming anywhere near Milwaukee I would be there!!! Instead, I will make these cookies! : )
I am so sad-I live in Florida but one of my best friends from college (we went in MA) just moved to San Fran. 2 other college buddies and i decided to go visit her out there this past weekend. imagine my delight when i find out YOU will be there. we showed up at the bookstore at about 10 after 4pm yesterday….we had gotten a little lost. you were gone and there were no more books
is it pathetic to admit i almost cried?! anyways i am back in fl and licking my wounds
any plans to come south??
no love in the south?!
Ohh, man. Those look incredible. Putting on my “to bake” list for sure!
This is so clever!! I need to make these for my 5yr old niece.. She barely eats anything but loves cookies!
Ahhh Finally! I saw these on instagram a while back and have been waiting ever so NOT patiently for the recipe ever since
Can’t wait to give these a try!
Oh my gosh, hi Han! So jealous that you got to meet her…can’t wait to read the book! Jenna, Hannah introduced me to your blog a long time ago and I’ve been a loyal reader ever since. Congratulations on the book!

I love seeing these pictures, Jenna!! xoxo And those cookies look amazing!!
These look so good! They are perfect for my cookie care package I’m planning to send to my boyfriend! Veggies and cookie!
Those cookies look so good, I need to make them soon. Congrats on the book signing!
I made these last night, and they were awesome. Very moist. The dough was a tad on the salty side, so I was worried a little they would be too salty, but they turned out perfect
Brought them in to work, and they were gone by Noon! Definitely making them again.
I made these this afternoon (sans powdered sugar). Delicious. Wonderfully moist and chocolatey. Thanks for the easy and terrific recipe.
I made these with my three-year-old daughter today. She is expert at rolling them in the bowl of powdered sugar. Slightly crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and so chocolaty – Yummy! Thanks for sharing this recipe.
