Flying South

Hi guys!

I’m sitting here at my gate at Chicago O’Hare—my flight leaves in an hour. Jenny (aka Fancy) was SO kind enough to drive Kath and I to the airport today!!! Jenny thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

We stopped at Whole Foods (obvi) along the way for a quick hit shopping spree. Don’t worry…it will be on the video! I didn’t have time to take a picture of what I got because we were rushed and running and trying to get to the airport on time, but I did get a box of my beloved blueberry z-bars along with a clif mojo bar, 3 luna tea cakes, CHUNKY ALMOND BUTTER, and a dark chocolate bar. It was the perfect way to end a perfect weekend!

I also picked up lunch since I hadn’t had anything since the instant oatmeal at Starbucks this morning (I had a nonfat Chai at Panera):

This is a huge mumbo jumbo of everything I could find. Asian noodles, tuna salad, tofu (I didn’t eat the tofu actually it was SO salty), 2 blocks of feta cheese, broccoli and mediterranean couscous salad. I slammed it down in Jenny’s car on the way to the airport! Delicious!!!

Our blog reader meet-up was very successful yet again this morning at Panera! (and yes, my scarf has an ice cream cone on it. haha)

Kath and I walked there with Anne, who ran with Kath earlier. It was about a quarter mile walk, which was nice. I love all the walking! Even in the cold :). Once at Panera, we met up with the other bloggers and a bunch of readers and had some lively discussions over bagels and coffee. Anne got a free chocolate chip bagel and I had 1/4th of it with my nonfat Chai.

It was just so great meeting all you girls! I wish we all lived closer together. Thank you all so much for coming!!

Angie with Kath and I!

Unfortunately, I won’t be home tonight until around 10:00. I’ll be in Atlanta around dinner time and get into Melbourne at 8:30, but after finding my bag, car and driving the hour home, it will be late! I got the day off tomorrow though so I can sleep in, do laundry and re-group for the week.

Again, thank you SO MUCH to all the fabulous ladies that took the time to come and meet up. You have no idea how much it meant to me to be able to actually meet yall in person and finally put a face to a name!

See you back down South! πŸ˜‰

Hi Jenna! Love the blog (and the trip sounds like it was soo fun!)–I have a question about culinary school. Do you have any advice for someone who is considering going to pastry school (trading a job as a teacher for life as a culinary student)? Pros/cons, misconceptions about the courses involved, etc?

    Thanks!

    Amy,

Just be really sure its what you want to do and explore different schools. Its very very expensive and was definitely the toughest thing I have ever done. Most of the girls dropped out (not to scare you!), the hours were insanely long and it was a loooooooot of work!

    Michelle,

I got that scarf from Urban Outfitters almost 3 years ago! Thanks!
