I made it!!!! Wow, what a long day—California seems like a whole new world and is just SO far away! I AM SO TIRED but soooo excited to finally be here!!! Here’s a recap
The three alarms Ryan and I set last night goes off at 5:40 am. I decided rather than wasting time by eating at home I could conveniently pack instant oatmeal, a small container of pb, raw cacao nibs + goji berries. I made a juice to go with kiwi, celery, spinach, apple and cucumber. I didn’t take a picture because it is part of the MOVIE I am making of my time in Cali! Little did I know though that that juice would be my only “food” for many hours. Meh.
The flight from Tampa to Phoenix was rocky, rocky, rocky!!!!!!! And, they were OUT of hot water so no oatmeal :(. I really wasn’t that hungry anyways though (nerves) so I just nibbled on a larabar from my snack stash. This is an awful picture because when I was taking it we were in the middle of bad turbulence!
I tried to sleep but of course could not. So instead, I read 200 pages of The Time Traveler’s Wife!!! OMG, great book! I want to savor each page and am cursing my speed reader self.
After my lovely 5 hour flight out west, I RAN through the Phoenix airport. I “freshened up” in the bathroom (hehe) and actually got a skim milk cappuccino + the perfect oatmeal from Starbucks because I was already tired and knew it would be a loooooooooong day. The oatmeal was actually really good though! Much better than oatmeal I’ve had at Starbucks in the past—I think they used two packages this time PLUS they gave me all three toppings (brown sugar, nuts and dried fruit) so I dumped everything in once on my connecting flight and dug in.
I landed in San Fran around noon but my body felt like it was 3:00 and time for a nap! I wasn’t hungry at all but I knew I should eat something so I ate half of the very (very!) smashed almond butter and banana sandwich from the bottom of my carry-on while I waited in baggage claim for Rocky Slaughter, another Top 10-er who I was meeting and driving up to Sonoma with.
