I’m a CofC graduate living in California, so I loved looking at these pictures. I have such fond memories of restaurant eating in Charleston and the lowcountry in general.
I’m gonna say it again, I want some desktop pics! I’ll also echo Heather up there, the doorknob pic is one of my favorites – so much detail in a tiny space! Other than that, I think I like the “bathing in the sunlight” window one best
I love this post – especially the pictures of Charleston. I got to visit over the summer and had lunch at Five Loaves Cafe per a previous recommendation of yours. My boyfriend and I just loved it! We also stopped at Sugar Bakeshop on our walk back to King Street and even went to Folly Beach before heading home. Such a beautiful place!
Ironic that you posted this right now…..I’m currently about 6000 miles away from my little island. I’m in Charleston for a few days and then off to Savannah! We ate at Basil last night thanks to your blog post back in May 09. It was awesome!!
Much Aloha from Low-Country! Amanda
Wow! I am an uprooted Middle GA Southern Girl living on the West coast, too. You made me homesick for a few minutes. I could smell Savannah with the first picture. Old Bay Seasoning and Pecan Pralines all mixed together.
Thank you for such a wonderful photo post! It brought me right back to my many recent visits to Charleston and to Savannah! I loved Charleston, and am very familiar with so many of your places, as my brother lived right off of King Street a few years ago! Great memories and wonderful inspiration!
These photos are beautiful! Both of those bakeries are gorgeous and so classic. That’s the kind of store I’ve always wanted to open myself or just lounge for hours drinking coffee.
I have spent a lot of time in Savannah and Hilton Head and just love the South. It’s a magical place. Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos… I think I want to frame some of them, too!
I’m delurking (first time commenter) to say that A. that’s the cutest bakery ever and B. that’s the cutest NECKLACE ever…where did you get it? Your pictures are wonderful.
My parents lived in Richmond Hill for several years and I’m actually getting married on Hilton Head Island and I want red velvet cupcakes from Back in the Day Bakery! SOOOOOO good!!!!!
OOOH I am loving your traveling to Savannah. My husband and I were just there in the beginning of September. I am so bummed I didn’t know about that bakery before we went. But we did go to the Pink House and it was amazing!!!! And I also saw you got that BLT “salad”. When we went they sadi it was just featured in the top 10 foods to eat on the Food Network. What did you think of it because it rocked my world and I am still thinking drolling over it. And the mason jar with the cheese sticks……mmmmm. Really liking this posts.
