  • First day of Kindergarten! 🍎 Some big feelings but no tears. We already love his teacher and he has several friends from preschool with him so that helps. ❤️ Where have the years gone?!
  • Let’s talk laundry routine for a moment, shall we? I’m chatting about ours over in stories today and how I’m loving using the laundry setup from @grovecollaborative to wash all of our stuff! (and can I be honest for a moment and tell you I mix lights and dark every day? 😂). With three boys, five and under, I average 1-2 loads a day (sometimes three!). I remember the days before having kids where I would do laundry a couple times a week...😂. Actually, some of the best advice my mom ever gave me was to do a load every morning no matter what.   • My wild child, Grayson. It feels like just yesterday I was making laps with the stroller in the backyard because, colic. Now he is starting Kindergarten a week from today. We both are a mix of excited and nervous. Where has the time gone?
  • Our sweet little cabin this weekend! I had been wanting to stay in one of the little cottages that this baker rents out (behind his bakery!) for years now but they are never available. I finally just emailed him and asked if there was a time we could ever come over...and he said how about this weekend?! So we did! 🙌🏻 There’s really no such thing as “vacation” with little kids (hello 5:40am wakeups and dinner meltdowns) but I think a change of scenery is always nice. So that’s how I look at traveling with kids now —- it’s a sometimes much needed change of scenery. 😬
  • So, I think 9 months could be the WORST age ever to take to the beach because all Brooks wanted to do today was crawl out into the water and eat fistfuls of sand. 🤪 When does the need to eat sand stop?! He had a blast though and I think now he needs a proper bathing suit. 😬

  • This summer, we have been averaging two different playgrounds a day. It’s the only place that’s safe. 😂🖐🏻 Hi from playground number two today!
  • I wasn’t planning on unplugging so much this summer - it was more brought about by sheer necessity than anything else. ;) Managing different camp schedules and a suddenly (very) mobile baby, and, well, just surviving with a 9 month old, 3 yr old and 5 yr old has made my days extremely fast paced and full. I can’t believe Grayson starts kindergarten in just one week and Luke starts preschool next month! Here’s a photo of them from this morning, on the last day of Grayson’s forest camp. 🌲🐾 I’m looking forward to reconnecting more in this space very soon!
  • Holy backyard apple harvest! 🍎🍎🍎 This is the best yield our gravenstein tree has ever had. I see lots of apple butter, applesauce, apple cake and apple bread in our future. The kids are thrilled!
  • A very impromptu day in Sonoma county that involved coffee at our favorite shop (and where I sat ten years ago when I wrote my book!), wine at @bellawinecaves and a flat of the sweetest peaches around. These peaches I bought this afternoon are already canned in vanilla bean syrup and stashed away in the cupboard, if you can believe that. 😜 There were some tantrums, an overtired baby who missed a nap and hours of standstill traffic on the way home....but here’s to making family memories, one weekend at a time. 😎
  • 10 years later, back to the exact place we met. ❤️ We have some extra people with us this time. ☀️
  • A watermelon cake for my sweet Lukey-Mac. 🍉❤️ We had a last minute change of plans today but still having a family birthday party for this three year old complete with tea, cake and candles. Luke has been asking for a watermelon cake for months! This is a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting and dark chocolate chips for seeds. You should have seen his face when he saw it! Oh, to be three...💙🥳🎈
