Hello!
Busy day over here at Camp Vero. Christie and I baked our daily cupcakes…
Salted caramel cupcake with pretzel pieces on top!!!
Ashlee is the owner of Frosting and is the big boss-woman! This girl is only 20 years old and already owns a fabulous cupcake store. How awesome is that?!
Our friend Kayla stopped in to say hi….Christie, Kayla and I were inseparable in high school!
No day would be complete with frosting shots…..
Or roasted almonds for a snack so I don’t eat the entire shop…….;)
We raced home for a late lunch after work. I had a turkey, hummus and cheese sandwich on whole wheat with an apple!
And then we went shopping at Ross and Marshalls for affordable dresses. When I packed to visit Christie I only packed for, errrr, two days….not a week and a half. I’ve been wearing a lot of Christie’s clothes and the same jeans and t-shirt to work everyday (don’t judge), but we actually are going out to dinner and drinks tomorrow night so I thought I could attempt to look acceptable. I found a lovely $12 dress at Ross! 🙂
I snacked on half a Pro Bar—-
And once the sun went down a little bit, I super taped up my blisters and went out for a FAST 2 mile run. 2 miles was all I could do with the blisters, and to be honest, I think I’m going to take the next few days off until they totally heal now. Regardless, having blisters actually made me run FASTER and I averaged about 8:15-8:30 miles. My speed is finally coming back!!!!
Dinner was some lovely sushi! I started with a seaweed salad—
And ordered 1.5 rolls. The “big” one is some special roll with three different kinds of fish in it, avocado and asparagus. The other more normal looking roll is just a plain spicy tuna…my fave!
Fortune cookie!!!!
(Pause for deep thoughts)
Since it was still early when we got home, we sat out on the dock and had a glass of Cab. The sunset was GORGEOUS!!!!
I focused a lot on enjoying the moment. This trip has been such an expected joy and exactly what I needed. Sometimes life moves at such a fast pace that you just have to slow down and savour the journey. (another deep thought for the night)
G’nite!
Amanda (modernation)
August 26, 2009 at 8:06 pmIsn’t sitting in front of the ocean and just thinking and being the best? I am moving away from the beach (West Coast) in a week and know that I will miss going for a run and stopping at the ocean for a few minutes to enjoy being alive. Okay – sorry to be so sappy. Glad you have had such a great trip!

August 26, 2009 at 9:25 pmYikes, I’m just catching up – sorry about the nasty blisters. I never hike without Band-Aid Advanced Healing Blister Cushions http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=100946&id=prod392263. They’re amazing! You won’t even know you have a blister (well, ok, maybe a little!) They feel much better than moleskin. I’ll use mole skin in a pinch, but cover the blister with gauze or a bandaid first so there’s no screaming 🙂
