  • Ahhhh, the aroma and taste (and sight!) of fresh sourdough never ever grows old. 🥰 I hadn’t baked in months and this was exactly what we all needed today.
  • Tea time ☕️💙
  • “I took a walk in the woods and came out taller than the trees” Henry David Thoreau 🌲 Brooks stood up all by himself this morning for the first time out in the woods! He has been standing for months now (while hanging onto things) but this was the first time he deliberately just got himself up and stood tall. He turns one in two weeks!! It’s hard to imagine life without our little “baby brooksie”. 🥰🍂🌾
  • In preparation for the forthcoming “California blackout”, I baked a chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting, a giant pan of chicken Parmesan (to be heated either over the camp stove or fingers crossed my gas range still works 🤞🏻). I’ve done laundry, dishes, stocked flashlights and ice in freezer. Hopefully our power will just be cut for a day and a half, not the five days they are telling us to be prepared for. 😱 For those wondering, we live in an extreme fire risk area and winds are expected to be pick up in the next two hours. All electricity is being cut to try to prevent downed power lines and, thus, a fire situation. Going to take this opportunity to cozy in, read lots of books by candlelight to my boys and eat cake. 🤷‍♀️ Happy fall, y’all! 🍂🍂🍂
  • “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” Anne of Green Gables ☺️ I’m also glad to live in a world with Wendell Berry poems and novels. I just finished Hannah Coulter and I adored it’s quiet strength. I know it will be a novel I think about for a long, long time. That’s the best kind of book! What are you reading lately? 🍂🍁🍄
  • Pack up kids, drive an hour north, pick 13 lbs of apples from the farm, race home, bake deep dish apple pie during baby’s nap. EAT. ❤️

  • Its a pool party, Thai coconut, water beads sort of afternoon. It’s the hottest day of the year here in Berkeley and we are doing best to stay cool! 💙💙💙

  • The best thing we’ve ever done as a family is join a church and plug into the wonderful community it brings. Our church is young and it’s a joy to watch it continue to grow! This new beautiful space is the labor of love, sweat, prayer and tears. Thank you so much to all the amazing volunteers in our community who made this dream a reality. 🙌🏻
