Breakfast

The Girl Needs Her FOOD

Those poor, poor Buckeyes 🙁 We don’t talk about it.

This morning I woke up with one thing on my mind……..FOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!

Y’all, I was so hungry I was almost shaking when I woke up this morning. It’s like I couldn’t get down to the kitchen fast enough! Yesterday was weird because I wasn’t planning on running so didn’t consciously try to eat more to fuel up. In the end, I probably went to bed without eating enough (even though I did have a big bowl of Nature’s Path cereal before bed) and thus, this morning I was famished.

What do we do in situations like that?

IMG_3436

Oooooh yeahhhhhhhh 🙂

IMG_3434

I used 1/2 cup of Kodiak mix to make a jumbo pancake and I topped it with the rest of the Oikos (wasn’t much left, prob ~1/3 cup), banana, almond butter and maple syrup. Never has food tasted so amazing.

Despite being a famished beast, I’m so glad I ran yesterday so I could relax this morning! I’m about to jump in the shower and get ready for church right now. Y’all should totally listen to last week’s sermon online if you haven’t…..it was so powerful and real. I’ve been looking forward all week to his message today!

My playlist from yesterday:

Don’t laugh at me! I LOVE music….ALL music, really. And I have a special fondness for Jake Owen since he is from my hometown and is going to be my future husband some day. Okay, just kidding 😉
Enjoy your Sunday!!

Congrats on such a good run yesterday! I think 8 miles is a great distance!
I was wondering, what do you use on your skin (cleanser, lotion??).. it’s stunning!

      Leah,

hahaha I feel like its totally NOT! Maybe its just the camera lighting!!!! In all those pictures I wasn’t wearing make-up, but I do wear Bare Minerals and looooove it. To cleanse my skin, I use a combo of Neutrogena gentle scrub, Avocate body polish and clinique soap. I sort of rotate between everything and then use an SPF 30 or Avocate skin glow daily after cleansing. thank you!

Eat Girl, eat! Unexpected long runs always make me hungry the next day. I love an array of musical styles also. My personal playlists never make much sense.

I have heard such good things about Bare Minerals! Thanks for replying! I remember you posting before that you used to have problem skin and I definitely think it shows no sign of troubles whatsoever! 🙂

I love your random playlist! All the CDs I have ever made are like that…some country (I’m a TX girl), alternative and a little rap.

I can’t wait to hear the sermon today. I’ve been listening to the older ones and he is amazing. I wish I could attend in person but I love that they’re online. Have a good Sunday 🙂

I, too, have been getting shaky hungry since I started doing longer runs. Not a good feeling, but I guess it is the body’s way of telling us to eat! Your breakfast looks yum (esp. the nut buttah)!

    Congrats on the 8-miler 🙂

Thank you so much for posting the sermon. As the pastor I don’t normally get to sit and enjoy the teaching of others. I’m going to listen to it later today.

Have you seen the new Tyler Perry Movie? I saw it last night and it ws like a great church service and super funny. Lots of people in there really were blessed. It’s awesome that its a mainstream movie.

I seriously think I wake up starving everyday esp the “day after” an intense workout, don’t know what the deal is with that?! Maybe it’s just that brekkie & oats is like my fave thing to eat all day haha 😉

What a perfect way to fuel up this morning! And I seriously LOVE your playlist. Every last song is one of my favorites… I just have to say that Josh Gracin is totally amazing. 😀 I went to a concert of his last year and actually got to meet him. So fun!

When I wake up shaky I usually start with some cereal! Then I have the energy to actually make something else! And you do seem to have great skin! I’m sure in part because you eat so well!
Trying steel cut oats and almond butter for the first time today!

    Thanks for your inspiration, Jenna!

As a HUGE Notre Dame fame- yesterday was the ultimate bad football day. Notre Dame loses to Michigan in the last 13 seconds, and then USC beats Ohio State (my neighbors team) in the last 10 seconds. Terrible indeed- a dark cloud loomed over our house.

I’m seriously impressed at how well you know and satisfy your hunger. So many people struggle with this- including myself from time to time.

    Jenna,
Your pancake looks delicious! Where do you get that pancake mix? I don’t think I’ve ever seen it up here. Perhaps I’ll get my mom to pick it up when she goes to visit my brother in Tampa! Anyway, your running mix is great. I love that you switch it up. It’s all about what motivates you to keep going. I sometimes just put my iPod on shuffle, and I have the most random mix of music on there, but I just love something totally surprising popping up. Fast or slow, it keeps me moving!

I often get that shaky feeling after fasting for more than 8 hours. I try and get in some fruit juice instantly in that case cuz if you don’t treat the low blood sugar soon, there’s a good likelihood of fainting!
Your breakfast looks yum! I recently bought a multi-grain pancake mix too. Before, I would beat myself up for buying pre-made mixes(after all, I have a “foodie” blog that I run too) but now I don’t care. They make my life easier…and the hell with food snobs 😉
