The Long Drive Home

Okay, so the drive was supposed to only be two hours home from Carmel. But…..we made a few stops!

Two stops in Castroville for fried artichokes and farm fresh produce, one stop in Gilroy for sugary fuel (sour patch kids) and another stop in Gilroy at the factory outlets. So all in all, it ended up being a long drive home.

I kept telling mom this was just a Book Tour road trip trial run. In September we will be in the car together for about a week and a half! Good thing there are plenty of factory outlets and roadside stands down South. More on that to come soon!

{all photos taken using Camera + and Instagram on my shattered Iphone}

{we really love artichokes}

{mom is SO EXCITED to spend over a week in the car with me during September. especially when I sing in my michael buble voice}

    My Mom and I stopped at the In N’ Out Burger in Gilroy across the street from those outlet stores! J.Crew, Loft, Banana Republic- it was torture since I was trying to save money at the time. I loved that stretch of freeway from SF to Big Sur, so much great produce! We stopped in Salinas to go to the Steinbeck Center too. Fried artichokes sound amazing. So happy you had a lovely trip!

    We usually stop by the whole enchilada in moss landing when we are in the area. Good Mexican food and a great produce stand next door too. You can even get some fresh fish from the oats on the docks nearby.

    Great find on those wedges. Soooo cute. Looking forward to hearing out the book tour. 🙂

    You didn’t pick up any elephant garlic in Gilroy? The hubby and I made that drive from San Francisco to Carmel many moons ago and stocked up on artichokes and garlic. Would love to get back there! Thanks for sharing your adventure and your great finds!

    Bahahaha we have those tsunami warning signs on the beach trail that I run on where I live in south Orange County. Whenever I see them I just imagine myself as that little stick person trying to outrun the tsunami up a giant mountain. For some reason I have always found those signs to be HI-larious.
