Okay, so the drive was supposed to only be two hours home from Carmel. But…..we made a few stops!
Two stops in Castroville for fried artichokes and farm fresh produce, one stop in Gilroy for sugary fuel (sour patch kids) and another stop in Gilroy at the factory outlets. So all in all, it ended up being a long drive home.
I kept telling mom this was just a Book Tour road trip trial run. In September we will be in the car together for about a week and a half! Good thing there are plenty of factory outlets and roadside stands down South. More on that to come soon!

{we really love artichokes}
{mom is SO EXCITED to spend over a week in the car with me during September. especially when I sing in my michael buble voice}

I love those wedges! Nice find
Your shoes totally are ridiculously cute! I’d want to wear them right away too. I need an outlet mall in my life!
Mine!!!!!!
Love all your pics especially the first one! Can’t wait to see where your book tour will lead you. Maybe Austin??
oh my fried artichokes?? how delicious! lovin your hair gorgeous!
I love your $15 wedges Jenna! And that’s so exciting that your mom is joining you on the book tour. I’d be up for going on any roadtrip if it meant stopping at the odd factory outlet along the way!
Ha, I’m expecting a Vlog post now with that Michael Buble voice!!
I’m so excited to find out where you’ll be going on your book tour! I’m crossing my fingers for Richmond, VA or somewhere close!!
P.S. – There are outlets an hour away from Richmond in Williamsburg, VA.
Excited to hear if you’ll have any stops in South Florida!!
Hope so!
My Mom and I stopped at the In N’ Out Burger in Gilroy across the street from those outlet stores! J.Crew, Loft, Banana Republic- it was torture since I was trying to save money at the time. I loved that stretch of freeway from SF to Big Sur, so much great produce! We stopped in Salinas to go to the Steinbeck Center too. Fried artichokes sound amazing. So happy you had a lovely trip!
Maybe I should shatter my iPhone too because those photos are gorgeous–crystal clear!!
Oh my…looooove that first photograph. You look like a model from a vintage advertisement. Fabulous!
And $15 Banana Republic wedges. What a find!
The shoes are quite a find – gorgeous AND ridiculously cheap!
I LOVE artichokes, and those wedges are awesome
Those shoes! Those artichokes! That coast line! I am swooning over here…and yes, trips with the mom are the best.
Love the pics! I really hope my Maggie wants to hang out with me when she is old and moved away. She is 4 now and wants me to go to college with her and get matching belly button rings. Not sure how that will look on a 50 year old.
The pictures are gorgeous, Jenna! Love that you had this time with your mama, too
Bahhh I need to go to a banana republic outlet! Those shoes are so cute!
wow, carmel is beauiful. i’d seen the pic on instagram and wondered where you were.
We usually stop by the whole enchilada in moss landing when we are in the area. Good Mexican food and a great produce stand next door too. You can even get some fresh fish from the oats on the docks nearby.
Great find on those wedges. Soooo cute. Looking forward to hearing out the book tour.
Holy yum! Fried artichokes?! Mmmmm!
You didn’t pick up any elephant garlic in Gilroy? The hubby and I made that drive from San Francisco to Carmel many moons ago and stocked up on artichokes and garlic. Would love to get back there! Thanks for sharing your adventure and your great finds!
Artichoke heaven! I’ve only just begun to dive into the fresh artichoke pool. Yum! Must go to CA to really enjoy it!
Is that first pic for real??!! It’s gorgeous! It looks like a vintage ad!
So lovely to read about your mom+daughter trip!
Still can’t get over that nail polish color!
Love posts like these.
I hope you’re coming to Florida!
Love the shoes & the artichoke love! And the beautiful pup
I’ve never had an artichoke but the person behind me at Costco was buying some. I bet they are amazing from beach carts. Love your new shoes!
Bahahaha we have those tsunami warning signs on the beach trail that I run on where I live in south Orange County. Whenever I see them I just imagine myself as that little stick person trying to outrun the tsunami up a giant mountain. For some reason I have always found those signs to be HI-larious.
You are too cute; what a fun trip. Love the new shoes; what a great deal! Hope you are having a fabulous weekend!
xo
What a wonderful getaway! And i’ve got to try fried artichoke….but first things first….do you happen to know the brand and color of your nail polish? I’ve been trying to find a color just like that. LOVE!!
It’s “blue-my” by color club!! I love it.
I love the camera+ pics! I need to get that app. It looks like a super fun trip and makes me miss Northern California!
Have you been to Gilroy during the Garlic Festivel? So much fun!
Fried artichokes sound amazing! I may have to recreate my own just so I can have them and not share
Cute new shoes! Love the photos. That area looks gorgeous!
Jenna, I made your Hello Dolly bars for my graduation party. Total hit! Your GG knew what was up. Thanks for sharing that amazing recipe!
