things you should know

1. Thanksgiving swap recipes now have their very own home! See the new Thanksgiving Recipe Swap page header at the top of this site? Check it daily to see if your recipe is being featured, as I’ll update it every afternoon . I’m in love with the simple spicy chickpea creation that’s there today!

2. This morning, while baking both cake and gingerbread at the same time, I accidentally set my copy of Gourmet on fire.

3. The above statement forces me to question everything I’ve believed to be true in life.

4. I’m still in my pajamas.

5. I’d like drink one of these in a sippy cup. While in my pajamas.

6. I’m wondering what people’s reactions to me would be if I went to Target in my pajamas.

7. I need to get out more.

8. Currently reading: this book (thanks, Kath!)

9. Currently eating: a stray piece of brie cheese

10. Currently loving: fresh ginger and bircher muesli with orange blossom honey

That milkshake..OMG. No words. Other than you crack me up..

Michele @ Healthy Cultivations November 11, 2010 at 12:20 pm

I’m guessing no one would notice if you went to Target in your PJs.

grocery goddess jen November 11, 2010 at 12:20 pm

Oh Jenna, you’re so lovely. I think if the people at Target couldn’t accept you in your pajamas, you should just ignore them and go anyways. I think I’ll change into my pajamas now, too.

Erin W. November 11, 2010 at 12:23 pm

I’ve made Spike’s milkshake before….and it is DELISH! You must try it…

Jessica @ How Sweet It Is November 11, 2010 at 12:23 pm

I want the milkshake too. Now.

Beth @ Beth's Journey to Thin November 11, 2010 at 12:26 pm

Hahah I love this list!

megan @ whatmegansmaking November 11, 2010 at 12:29 pm

I would love to be drinking that milkshake.

jenna November 11, 2010 at 12:30 pm

i love how this is tagged as “awkward humor!”

tina November 11, 2010 at 12:31 pm

totally go to target in your pjs! who careS!?!? πŸ˜‰

Amber K November 11, 2010 at 12:36 pm

People are in public in their pajamas ALL the time. πŸ˜‰

Katherine @ Left Coast Contessa November 11, 2010 at 12:39 pm

I got orange blossom honey from the farmers market a few weeks ago and have been liberally spreading it on everything in sight since.

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) November 11, 2010 at 12:41 pm

You don’t have kids but….most beverages around here are drank from sippy cups, Ive been to Target, the groc store, Rite Aid and many places in my pajamas, and the sad thing…is that I dont even care what people’s reactions are!! haha!

So I just covered a couple items on your list.

And b/c I have a child, I dont have time to read grown up books anymore. Enjoy yours, looks great!!! πŸ™‚

Chicago Cuisine Critique November 11, 2010 at 12:44 pm

You are too funny. Cute post! πŸ™‚

Jasmine November 11, 2010 at 12:47 pm

I know everyone is commenting on that milkshake, but all I could think about after reading your list is that I hope you have a fire extinguisher in your apartment. :p

Trish November 11, 2010 at 12:50 pm

I am loving your blog so much. I’ve been reading for a while and your writing has just really progressed so much and gotten even better than it was. Plus, you’re super cute and funny. Love it! Love you! Oh, can I just say I am eating your lentil walnut loaf as I type – best thing ever. My stomach loves you too.

So rock on in your pjs. πŸ™‚

Heather (Heather's Dish) November 11, 2010 at 1:00 pm

jenna, please send nutella. STAT.

JENNA November 11, 2010 at 1:04 pm

does your mom need to hire you a nanny? πŸ˜‰

I hope you don’t burn your apt down!

Hope November 11, 2010 at 1:08 pm

This post is great.
That is all.

emily November 11, 2010 at 1:21 pm

I’ve made that milkshake! And it was, in fact, fairly life changing πŸ™‚

oc2seattle November 11, 2010 at 1:26 pm

I find myself setting things on fire while cooking quite often – for some reason I have a tendency to put print-outs of recipes on burners and then accidentally turn on the wrong one πŸ˜‰ Going to Target in your pajamas is perfectly acceptable – you can confirm with Jen – in college she regularly wore her pajamas to class.

The Wife of a Dairyman November 11, 2010 at 1:34 pm

I’m pretty sure I’ve SEEN people at Target in their P.J.’s! LOL! I think you’d be safe:)

Deanna November 11, 2010 at 1:49 pm

Now I have, “My milkshake brings all the boys to the yaaaard” in my head!!

Jackie (ananda prana) November 11, 2010 at 1:51 pm

Going to Target in your PJs is no big thang! I’ve certainly done it once… or twice πŸ˜‰

Liz @ Blog is the New Black November 11, 2010 at 2:09 pm

I enjoyed the randomness of this post!

eml November 11, 2010 at 3:34 pm

Me too…I needed it.

Jillian @ Reshape Your Life November 11, 2010 at 3:25 pm

lol a stray piece of brie cheese… That makes me laugh.

I would totally go to Target in my pj’s. I’ve done it many times… Although I refrain from doing that to Walmart… I’d hate to be on πŸ˜‰

sarah November 11, 2010 at 3:38 pm

I can only imagine wearing PJs to a store would make me feel like I am in a bad dream, like one where you go to work and realize you forgot your pants or bra…

Estela @ Weekly Bite November 11, 2010 at 3:42 pm

I’m currently obsessed with that milkshake too πŸ™‚

Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin November 11, 2010 at 3:47 pm

Your poor cookbook!!!

Cara Craves... November 11, 2010 at 3:57 pm

I guess it depends what your pajamas look like… πŸ™‚
Yoga pants and a hoody = acceptable
Huge mickey mouse face, maybe not so much….but who really cares anyways?!

Jenna November 11, 2010 at 5:36 pm

I just looked at my husband and stated “I need you to go to the store for vanilla icecream and marshmallows.” He gave me a look of delight and fear that read what does she want to make now. I followed with, β€œI just read about toasted marshmallow milkshakes and have to make them!” He responded, β€œI love you.” At least he indulges me even if he won’t go to the store.

chelsey @ clean eating chelsey November 11, 2010 at 5:37 pm

Target + PJ’s = perfectly normal.

Natalia - a side of simple November 11, 2010 at 5:48 pm

Currently addicted to: Your blog..

Moni'sMeals November 11, 2010 at 5:50 pm

I have been known to rock pj’s every now and then like to TJ’s and WFoods! I love it too because people are so into fashion in my neck of the woods so I get the glare sometimes, which makes me laugh. I just love being comfortable and happy. πŸ™‚

Kim Trick November 11, 2010 at 6:47 pm

Wow, that milkshake looks incredible. I’m tempted to try it with Coconut Bliss and maybe even mint chocolate chip icecream for a pepperminty kick.

Jessica ~ Haute Teapot November 11, 2010 at 6:58 pm

Um, love this post.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom/witticisms/cuteness…and I wanted to go to BnN in my jammers (PINK sweatpants, AA deep-v) to read but decided a book at home and hot apple cinnamon tea didn’t sound too bad.

Lisa A. A. November 11, 2010 at 7:50 pm

Sometimes, wearing jammie pants is the only way I can get myself and kids to the store when I’m in need of ingredients for whatever I’m craving at that moment! Sure, it’s fine!!

Krista November 11, 2010 at 8:42 pm

Haha, last year I went to class in PJs, Uggs, and a sweatshirt. My mom’s response: “IF YOUR FATHER KNEW WHAT YOU WERE WEARING…!” πŸ˜› So ready for Christmas.

Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) November 12, 2010 at 3:41 am

Thank you for the randomness. You have officially made my day. Again. πŸ˜€

Sarah @ Sarah's Shaping Up November 12, 2010 at 5:34 am

The milkshake looks delishhh! And out of a sippy cup? So legit.

Camille November 12, 2010 at 6:30 am

You don’t go to Target in your PJs? I thought that was normal… :/

Katie November 12, 2010 at 6:58 am

Not to help feed the cookbook habit or anything… but, I just was on (a new shopping site that has a few speacial deals each day and is free to join with login info) that their deal today is lots of fun looking professionalish cookbooks. I thought of you instantly:

Love your new writing style!

Errign November 12, 2010 at 7:30 am

Totally random and irrelevant to this post question – where did you get your purse in this post?

Rachel @ The Avid Appetite November 12, 2010 at 8:17 am

I second the milkshake in sippy cup idea! Wish I was home on my couch watching Cooking Channel and kicking back with one of those…in my pj’s.

Jen November 14, 2010 at 6:36 am

Jenna! Quick question:

I see that you love your Silpat. I don’t bake but roast veggies in oil all the time- would it be good for that?

Thanks so much.
