Good morning!
I have to say, the sky sure LOOKED like autumn this morning but, alas, it was still 90 degrees and humid. Sigh. However, I did make up for it with the season’s first bowl of winter squash oats!
This might look like a mess, and it is. Last night I combined 1/2 cup oats with 1/2 cup almond milk and then this morning stirred in almond butter, 1/2 cup organic butternut squash (!!), 1 plain chobani, 1/2 banana, maple syrup and cinnamon Hello, fall!
I love Wednesdays! Today I have my favorite yoga class at noon followed by shin doctor appointment (okay, not so fun…) and then dinner at Panera and bible study. I’m one of those people that thrive off being busy and I love to have my days packed with good stuff.
So much to look forward to this month!
- Deeper Still with Sarah and Jessica
- BlogHer Food with Kath and Tina in San Francisco
- Exploring Northern California with my Murphy-Goode friends!
What do you have to look forward to this month?

September 2, 2009 at 9:42 amI do not like the fall or winter – too cold!!! 🙂 Though the leaves are pretty and the air is fresh. But I do like whipping up some porridge or oatbran with raw honey . . and finally today I tried some peanut butter in there and it was pretty good! next stop – squash! Was that from a tin?

September 2, 2009 at 10:00 amThose oats look truly amazing! I’m jealous of the 90F weather! It’s already getting down to the low 50s overnight here and 70s during the day (MN) so definitely feeling like Autumn – but it’s too early for me!!
This month I’m looking forward to…well, I moved house this weekend so settling in, unpacking, baking, having friends over…all the good stuff!

September 2, 2009 at 10:09 amSquash in oatmeal…. yep a bit too fall-ish for me…. I am one of those people that LOVE summer… probably because the winters can be kind of harsh here (NH).
Fun things for September… labor day parties, hubby’s birthday, Reach the Beach Relay, lots of long runs for marathon training, and final plans for the 5K i’m the director of October 3rd!
Karla
September 2, 2009 at 10:10 amJenna, thanks for posting the recipe for that yummy pasta you made the other night! Do you think it would be ok to substitute the brie for another kind of cheese, and if so, which type? Brie is so $$$ here!
Thanks!

September 2, 2009 at 10:26 amI’m so jealous of your NorCal trip. If airfare was affordable out that way, my vacation would be there and not Arizona! But heck AZ is a pretty neat place.
My vacation is the number one thing I’m looking forward too. Only one month from today! Aside from that, all the fall fairs are this month. Octoberfest in my town, arts and craft shows, and the Speedboat Nationals on our local river. For me and my SO, we are busy every weekend from here on out!

September 2, 2009 at 12:07 pmJenna- you always make such good oatmeal concoctions! Do you cook the oats in the microwave? I don’t think I have the patience to do stove top in the morning!
Also..I noticed it was surprisingly cool this morning around 6am! I live in Sarasota so i’m not sure if the weather varies that much.. but it made my run quite pleasant…. but now it is storming!!!

September 2, 2009 at 12:20 pmOh yum! I love butternut squash.
This month there isn’t a lot going on. My boyfriend’s 21st birthday is coming up; I`m going home for a weekend to visit with family (I`m watching the animals while my mom goes on a vacation); and I`m hopefully finding out if I`ve been accepted into the Dietetic Technician program.

September 2, 2009 at 2:51 pmOooh. Now I am craving pumpkin oats!
Although, a new trick I’ve tried is pretty tasty too… adding shredded carrots to my oats, with cinnamon and PB. It sounds weird, but it makes it taste like carrot cake, and it’s a good way to slip in some extra veg!

September 2, 2009 at 4:26 pmHey Jenna! So longtime reader here, recent delurker and member of the blogging community, and I was hoping you could answer a yoga question for me, as you seem to be the yoga pro these days (that free class deal is awesome 🙂 ). I’ve done bikram yoga a lot, but I’ve never done a normal yoga class. I recently decided I wanta give it a try, but I have no idea what the different types of classes are all about, so I was curious about what your favorite is? I’m pretty good at bikram so this might seem silly but I’m nervous to give regular yoga a try! Anyway, any opinion would be greatly appreciated. Happy Wednesday!
