1. I have an entire drawer dedicated to chocolate.
2. That green headband was on sale for ninety nine cents at Eckerds. Before Eckerds became CVS. (You all wanted to know!)
3. I got rejected for seventh grade chorus. In tears, I called my mother who in turn called my music teacher and demanded her young, talented daughter have another audition. They never knew what they were missing.
4. To be perfectly honest, I really don’t like vegetables that much. I like pasta. And cake. And biscuits with honey.
5. Once, in culinary school, I accidentally dropped a sheet pan full of butter on the floor in the walk-in fridge. I neatly arranged the butter back on the sheet pan and acted like nothing ever happened while the rest of the class used the butter to make French buttercream. Does this make me a horrible person?
6. I wholeheartedly believe in the ten second rule. Or the forty second rule.

August 2, 2010 at 11:07 amLove these!! They remind me of NotQuiteNigella’s list of “You Know You’re a Food Blogger Ifs…” 🙂 So fun.

August 2, 2010 at 11:08 amThese posts are my favorites…I especially like hearing a healthy food blogger doesn’t actually want to marry vegetables! 🙂

Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman
August 2, 2010 at 11:13 amLove the butter story–that’s hilarious. That’s something I would have done out of the fear of being the class klutz.
Estela @ Weekly Bite
August 2, 2010 at 11:14 amI would’ve done the same exact thing with the butter!
What a fun post 🙂
Anya @ Fitness & Sunshine
August 2, 2010 at 11:16 amHahaha, this is funny, especially about the vegetables and the butter. 🙂 I also believe in the 10-40 second rule.

Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat
August 2, 2010 at 11:18 amThe butter story is my favourite of your confessions. TOTALLY doesn’t make you a bad person – I’d have definitely done the same!
Megan @ Healthy Hoggin

Kacy
August 2, 2010 at 11:23 amWe have CVS and Walgreens here still. I didn’t know they were the same!
I probably would have done the same thing with the butter. I’m sure the floor had just been mopped…
Kaley
August 2, 2010 at 11:40 amI don’t think they are, maybe her store just got turned into Walgreens?
I understand when people don’t like vegetables, but I seriously, seriously love them.
Debbie
August 2, 2010 at 12:23 pmDefinitely not the same…my hubby works for Walgreens and they don’t buy out CVS’s or vice versa….they do buy out smaller type drug chains and eventually convert them …maybe it was one of those.
I loved the butter story…made me lol!!!
jenna
August 2, 2010 at 12:26 pmI don’t really know what I’m talking about…it’s becoming a problem.

Lizzie
August 2, 2010 at 11:55 amI seriously believe that the 40 second (or 10!) rule is one of the best ways to build immunity. I also believe that Lysol is one of the sole reasons for people’s lack of immunity! 🙂 Quick butter story: my husband and I were travelling in Edinburgh and stayed at this cute B&B. At breakfast the next morning he sat down at the table glanced down and proclaimed excitedly, “Whoa – Brie!” and then proceeded to put a stick of butter in is mouth. Needless to say it was back on his plate in 3 seconds flat. 🙂

August 2, 2010 at 12:07 pmHaha love the confessions. And the butter thing doesn’t make you a horrible person – most people have probably done something like that but wouldn’t admit it!
Where are your confessions parts I and II?

August 2, 2010 at 12:08 pmOkay so I think we would REALLY get along well.
#1 – check.
#4 – I like it all.
And, #5 – totally something I would do…and have done something similar in the past that I won’t expand on here…

August 2, 2010 at 12:15 pmHAHA Wow, yeah, butter story, would have done the same thing. 😉 Um, what are you carving in that first photo? It looks scary, with a tail.

August 2, 2010 at 6:03 pmThat reminds me of Julie and Julia – the book – when the Blogger Julie had to cut right into the bloody meat…but she persevered!
I wonder how many Vegans did NOT watch the movie or read the book!!
Camille
August 2, 2010 at 12:18 pmDepending on the surface, I believe in a 2-3 minute rule. This applies if the ground is clean and the thing I have dropped is chocolate.

August 2, 2010 at 12:27 pmhaha, I love your culinary school confession. Eh, what you don’t know can’t hurt you, right??

August 2, 2010 at 12:55 pmUmm I met Eckerds. Sorry!
Leanne
August 2, 2010 at 1:14 pmThe second rule is a necessary staple in daily life especially when you are a clumsy person. And 40 seconds is completely appropriate in your own home. I love this post!!
Melissa
August 2, 2010 at 1:15 pmYou remind me so much of my friend! She did the same thing with the butter but of course it wasn’t in any cooking school but at home when we were having a baking party. She didn’t tell anyone till the cake was all gone.
I love reading your blog!
Gennin
August 2, 2010 at 1:20 pmAre you holding a tail in the first photo? Eeek!
Miranda @ MirandasJeans
August 2, 2010 at 1:31 pmOMG I prob would have done the same thing. Too funny. What are you holding there in your hands in the first picture?
Hayley
August 2, 2010 at 1:49 pm40 second rule. Yes. Sometimes I’ll throw away food, thinking I’m done with it… but then I go back to the trashcan and have another bite. I mean… if it’s not touching any real trash and in some sort of takeout container, it’s no dirtier than if I had just left it out on the counter.

August 2, 2010 at 5:44 pmexactly!

August 2, 2010 at 2:10 pmSince I know exactly how clean my kitchen floor is I make the decision on whether the 10 second rule applies.

August 2, 2010 at 2:23 pmI dropped a stick of butter on the ground of my apartment and put it back. My roommates used the butter without knowing. Neither of us are horrible.

August 2, 2010 at 2:28 pmI love the 40 second rule! I always say it builds immunity =)

August 2, 2010 at 5:34 pmConfession: If I drop something on the floor and happen to see “a little dirt” I dust it off and proceed like nothing happened. Dirt wont hurt…right? I figure I have a stomach of steel anyways and why waste? Very normal.

August 2, 2010 at 5:43 pmI love these posts. The honest of not liking veggies is so real. I don’t like pasta and beef which some people think is weird 🙂

August 2, 2010 at 5:49 pmHa ha I love it…it cooks right out!

August 2, 2010 at 6:42 pmYou post makes me wonder if I would love vegetables as much if I had zero ability to assess foods on a “health” metric. I do love spinach, but I’ll take it blended into a GM over a salad (almost) any day!
Rachael
August 2, 2010 at 6:57 pmFlashbacks of not making the “Second Call” lists for high school musical productions..ah, the heartbreak.
I believe firmly in the 40 second rule. Or five minute rule. Hell, I dumpster the majority of my food – would that be the eternally-good-if-no-maggots-present rule?
Chelsea (Chelsea's Chew and Run Fun)
August 2, 2010 at 7:07 pmWhile I l do love vegetables, if I had to take a bullet for a cake or a vegetable platter, I would totally take one for the cake.
You’re NOT a horrible person for concealing your butter foible. I think you’d be hard pressed to find a person who wouldn’t do the same thing in those circumstances…unless that person was a total germaphobe.

August 2, 2010 at 7:18 pmWhen I worked at Carvel, my coworker dropped an un-frosted ice cream cake under a dusty storage cart. Let’s just say we didn’t throw it out …

August 6, 2010 at 3:40 pmI loved this entry! I totally related… when I was in culinary school I was making hollandaise sauce for my Intro I Final and I accidently caught the towel on fire. I was already under massive stress. Somehow I was able to lift the bowl of sauce from the pot on the stove, but after that I couldn’t move. I just stared at the towel on fire in complete shock. I was horrified of what was happening before my eyes, it was my worst fear come true. My classmate next to me quickly and swiftly grabbed the towel with his tongs and threw it in the ice bath where the stock was cooling down in the sink. I was still standing there in shock trying not to cry or scream and finally I slowly turned around to look at my chef instructor. I was fearing the worst, but she had her back to me. The other chef instructor did not, he had seen the whole thing and was looking straight at me with a stern look on his face, then he winked at me and i breathed a sigh of relief and finished my final w/out any other major catastrophes. I cried afterwards though. Thanks for posting about the butter fiasco, i would have done the same in that situation and you are definitely not a horrible person! 🙂
