Woahhhhh what a DAY!
I am totally and completely 100% exhausted! Last night I only got about 4-5 hours sleep….I just couldn’t sleep! I had trouble falling asleep and then when I finally did, I tossed and turned all night until my alarm went off at 5:45. Not even a gallon of coffee could keep me goin today! Regardless, Adam and I got the to the wedding site and finished before the wedding at 2:00 so that’s good at least!
This morning I had the BEST breakfast!! I made a “mess” with the other half of my lb of yogurt from last night (1 cups worth) with cinnamon puffins, a banana, about 2 tbsp of Udi’s granola and peanut butter.
This breakfast actually was a record setter and kept me full for the next 5 hours!!!!! I didn’t even need or want a morning snack. I wish I had access to all the greek yogurt in the world so I could have this exact breakfast every morning but sadly my bank account would indeed suffer.
I ate my sandwich on the run today as we loaded up the cars with cake layers—-just a simple turkey and provolone on the last two slices of my protein bread:
With my sammie, I had an apple and the celery sticks you see here. I didn’t end up eating the cheese or the rice treat.
And now………..for the fun stuff! I present you with a photo journey of the wedding cake process!
Here’s the beginning from the other day—myself immersed in cake batter:
To the construction:
And then today, loading the 8 cake layers into our cars:
Setting up our station at the wedding site:
Adam gets some assistance putting the first tier on the wooden support—(this was the scariest part!)
The bottom half is on!
And then the top:
They wanted 8 tiers because they have been together for 8 years!!! How cute!
I started to pipe a shell border around the outside while Adam did stencil work:
And FINALLY……………………
A glorious monstrosity. We finished about 10 minutes before the wedding began. Love workin’ under pressure!
When I got home, I had a snack of a kashi go lean with peanut butter and preserves:
I was going to work out this afternoon but I’m just so tired, I don’t know if I’ll make it. I think my new plan might be to just park myself by the pool instead!!!
See you tonight!

October 18, 2008 at 6:50 pmThat is a huge cake!!! It is beautiful. I started making my AM “mess” with cottage cheese because a 1/2 cup has 16g of protein (I use Friendship Dairy) while 1 cup of plain yogurt has only 11g. I would use Greek yogurt but it is pretty $$$. Give it a try if you like cottage cheese.

October 18, 2008 at 7:22 pmHoly cake!! That thing is ginormous haha. So fun to see the process! My aunt is a pastry chef and used to make wedding cakes for a living, she just owns a little cafe/bakery now, but she does some cakes and is doing my wedding cake! Or cakes i should say…I want 3 smaller cakes as opposed to 1 huge one…all different shapes and coordinating colors…and different flavors obviously 🙂

Those are Barbara’s Cinnamon Puffins. I think I might even like them better than the peanut butter kind!!! They are so addicting!

October 19, 2008 at 6:44 amI’m lucky to live in a Turkish neighborhood where Greek yogurt is pretty easy and cheap to find (along with feta and olives – I’m so lucky!).
That cake is phenomenal. I’m curious – how much do you charge for a monstrosity like that? And did it taste good? =)

October 19, 2008 at 2:01 pmmonica,
Adam did this for free because he is good friends with the bride and it was his wedding gift to her. If he were charging for it though, it would have been around $2,500! Woah! it tastes amazing of course…I should know, I baked it! 🙂
