Behind The Butter

Bridal Shower Festivities

Last weekend, my bestie, Ashley, threw me a fabulous bridal shower! I am seriously so blessed by this girl. She’s one of my bridesmaids, but is about to give birth {a little more important} so she’s missing the wedding. When I first admitted to her a few months ago that “I didn’t think I was going to have a bridal shower”, she looked horrified and immediately threw a plan into action. Within a a month, she had designed and sent out all the invitations, planned the color palette, the games and the menu for the party.

I have no idea how she did all this, wore cute heels AND was eight and a half months pregnant, but it happened. She’s just awesome like that.

The theme for our wedding is sort of a “rustic chic” with lots of burlap, wood and lace so Ashley made cute mason jar vases wrapped in burlap to hold flowers. For snacks, we had chicken salad on croissants, these AMAZING little caprese bites you see above, veggies + caramelized onion dip, little spanakopita triangles and cupcakes!

My other sweet friend, Kacia, made all the party favors — these adorable wooden spoons with our wedding date on them! I flipped out when I saw them.

All of the party guests wrote their best marriage advice {or, if they were single, just their best advice} on different spoons. Ashley wrapped the spoons in twine and gave them to me in a big mason jar. I thought that was one of the sweetest ideas ever!

We played a “he said/she said” game as well as a “what’s in your purse” game. Ashley made cute little bags for the winners that had mugs and teabags stashed inside because of how much I love tea! Then, I got to open my gifts! I couldn’t stop laughing because I think the last time I sat in the center of a circle and opened presents, I was ten years old. I absolutely loved all the sweet and thoughtful gifts my friends gave me! I definitely teared up on several occasions.

Look at what my friend, Hawley, gave me! You can’t really the verse in the photo, but it’s Colossians 3:14 — “Above all clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect unity”. I can’t wait to hang this; I know we’ll have it forever!

At the end, Adam came and crashed my party. He was out with Ashley’s hubby and their little girl looking at suits for the wedding. I can’t believe we are getting married in 59 days! Not that I’m counting or anything….

Thank you to all my wonderful friends who came and celebrated with me last weekend! It was seriously a perfect day for me and I couldn’t have been happier sitting in a circle, sipping champagne and eating croissants with my fabulous girlfriends.

I also got to share with my friends about Noonday for the first time! To my party, I wore the chevron dangle earrings, acai rope necklace, tagua seed bracelet and cubist cuff. I can’t wait to show off more jewelry and share the artisans stories at my launch party next month!

How wonderful and exciting! Two months will fly by. Love the caprese bites and the cut and color of your dress, fab-u-lous.

    My best marriage advice:

Remember the scientific odds of either one of you ever being born is One out of 400-Trillion. As Albert Einstein said, everything is a miracle. Treasure it.

Buy quality and take care of it, not quantity.

My husband and I were married when I was 17, and my parents surprised us by putting a down payment on a darling cottage. Four years later when I was 21 and our darling baby Robbie was four, we bought a beautiful home on a tree-line cul-de-sac, swimming pool, etc. He died very young in a light plane crash. I still love him. His was kind, and Adam is kind. Nothing’s better than that.
