Last night I had a dream about pancakes.
In my dream, I was in Hawaii and there was a very large and extensive breakfast buffet at our fabulous hotel on the ocean. The pancakes were beautiful large creations, studded with toasted macadamia nuts and topped with golden flaked coconut and warm maple syrup.
Does that make you all warm and fuzzy?
Needless to say, when I woke up and realized I was not actually in Honolulu but rather in my little hole in Northern California, I grew sad.
But, I made amends the best I could.

A girl can dream, right?

This would be a large pancake made with kodiak mix and topped with a fried egg, berries and raspberry syrup. It tasted delicious but now I think I am destined to go to Honolulu and find these pancakes of my dream.

I have trouble letting go of things.

April 20, 2010 at 7:37 amMMMM pancakes. I made some yesterday with greek yogurt, almond butter, bananas, and dried cherries on top that were incredible. First time I had pancakes in ages! Love the broken mug. 🙂

April 20, 2010 at 7:40 amYour pancakes look pretty dreamy themselves!

April 20, 2010 at 7:40 amYou need to keep that mug FOREVER….seriously! 😉

April 20, 2010 at 7:40 amWow the pancakes look amazing! Surely some macademia nuts would make them all the more divine but gotta work with what we’ve got, right? Meaning another bowl of overnight oats for me this morning:) have a great day jenna!

April 20, 2010 at 7:41 amHi Jenna,
Random question: How do you clean your yoga mat? And how often do you clean it? If you haven’t cleaned it in awhile, how would you recommend cleaning it? (I’ve heard you can put it in the bathtub but don’t love the thought of using detergent)
Chelsea (Chelsea's Chew and Run Fun)
April 20, 2010 at 7:43 amI think that is a very admirable and decent attempt to make your dream a breakfast reality! Those pancakes look gorgeous! Sorry the weather is lame.
I broke my favorite coffee mug not too long ago as well. It was very difficult parting ways with it. 🙁

April 20, 2010 at 7:45 amhehe! wow, that sounds like quite the dream. believe it or not i’ve actually experienced something similar in real life – i was in honolulu a few years ago and we went for the breakfast buffet at The Royal Hawaiian ‘Pink’ Hotel – http://www.royal-hawaiian.com/ if you ever make it out to hawaii you mUST go here, it’s the best of the best. i’m going back next month [my dad lives out there], & i’m so stoked!
… now if I could only learn to make pancakes on my own that look as delicious as yours 😉
have a beautiful day! <3

April 20, 2010 at 7:54 amI love food dreams…except that I always wake up hungry!
Lovely pancakes, and I wouldn’t get rid of that mug either– one of my favorite spoons has part of the handle broken off of it! 🙂 Some things are just worth keeping around!

April 20, 2010 at 7:57 amEggs on pancakes are one of my very favorite things. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, it’s perfect.

April 20, 2010 at 8:04 amWow I wish I could have dreams that good haha

April 20, 2010 at 8:06 amI’ve never tried putting a fried egg on pancakes and underneath syrup, but it sounds like it might work!
Katy ( The Balanced Foodie)
April 20, 2010 at 8:10 amWow, you had me drooling with those dreamy pancakes. The real life version looked pretty phenom is you ask me. The weather, not so much. But pretty soon you will have the most perfect weather!! Beginning of May last year, Adam and I went for our honeymoon and it was gorgeous! You’re going to have a beautiful summer. 🙂
jennifer (take the day off)
April 20, 2010 at 8:10 amThere is nothing in the world quite as wonderful as a scrumptious and extensive breakfast buffet. Pure bliss, and certainly dream worthy.

April 20, 2010 at 8:13 amYUM…i too need to go to Hawaii for the pancake of my dreams! not sure, but that might just be one of the prettiest pancakes i’ve seen all year… 🙂

April 20, 2010 at 8:15 amThat poor mug–you think you could glue the handle back on? When you find those pancakes you were dreaming of, I want to know. Although the ones you made look pretty tasty as well.
Carolyn @ lovinlosing
April 20, 2010 at 8:15 amIf it makes you feel any better it’s probably raining in Hawaii, too! I was there a few years ago for work and it rained every day (kind’ve like Florida). 🙂

April 20, 2010 at 8:16 amTry Gorilla Glue to glue the handle back on-it works on everything!
Katie@ Two Lives, One Lifestyle
April 20, 2010 at 8:17 amEven if it wasn’t in Hawaii, the pancakes look dream-worthy. The forecast looks similarly dreary here and possible SNOW or winter mix on the weekend! Hawaii would be great!

April 20, 2010 at 8:20 amThese look amazing! Dreaming of food are the best dreams!

April 20, 2010 at 8:22 amOh my goodness… both sets of pancakes (dreamcakes and actualcakes) sound amazing!
I hold on to broken mugs, too. Several just became small bowls, and one with a giant crack that rendered it useless for holding liquids became a pencil/pen jar (until my well meaning parents, when helping me move out of a dorm room, threw it away).

April 20, 2010 at 8:23 amHa, don’t we all? I have this one coat that literally has ripped at the seams (internally, of course, I’m not walking around with big gaping holes in my coat, haha) and I refuse to toss it. What can I say, it’s a good coat, lol.
By the way, love your blog! And as for others who earlier said that you were being insensitive in your posts-not true. Your posts were amusing and different. In a sea of sometimes dry fitness blogs (not referring to yours, of course) it was refreshing to see something a bit punchier!

April 20, 2010 at 8:24 amGah, I hate food dreams where you realise the food isn’t really there, waiting for you! The worst ones though are dreams where someone makes you angry, and you wake up with a MAJOR grudge, yet don’t know why – I’vehad lots of them!

April 20, 2010 at 8:26 amIt is my actual DREAM to go to Hawaii…Honolulu, Maui, wherever!! I just want to go – and stay there forever…with fresh fish and pineapples and a laid-back life style luau’ing on the beach…
and a few pancakes wouldn’t hurt either 😉
Teri [a foodie stays fit]
April 20, 2010 at 8:27 amfried egg on a pancake? really?? I’m scared. 🙂
Laura Georgina
April 20, 2010 at 8:28 amOK, I’m definitely feeling the pancake love! And good thing, too, since I ran out of good oatmeal and just have quick oats (blech) left….
When my dog broke my favorite mug, I used it for hot tea anyway, with a potholder, until he finished the job and smashed it to bits. Nothing wrong with treasuring your favorite mug, no shame in that 🙂

April 20, 2010 at 9:12 amI have been reading your blog for almost a year now and I think this is the first time I have posted something. I have always wondered how you could manage to eat as much as you do and still look so great! Well, I started Weight Watchers last week and realized you just make the right choices about what you eat most of the time. I am definitely going to have to try these this breakfast!

April 20, 2010 at 9:22 amI’ve been to Hawaii, and had pancakes there, and they really are worth dreaming about.
Yours look almost as dreamy though.

April 20, 2010 at 9:32 amOnce at a waffle house I tried the Hawaiian Waffle… and yes it was heaven. Very similar to your dreamy pancake. And the best part? The coconut maple syrup. yum.

April 20, 2010 at 10:47 amGreat…now I want to go to Hawaii too!
And Thank You so much for introducing me to Kodiak cakes! I had them for breakfast for the last 3 days! My husband now loves them too! As do my kids! But I am out of their raspberry sauce/syrup! It is divine! And I made their cookies last week and they were awesome too! Next will have to buy the brownie mix!
Sorry you have rain this week, but you will find a way to enjoy it…you always do! I love how you are using your broken mug!

April 20, 2010 at 10:56 amawww, what a sad looking mug…good thing it went along with a beautiful breakfast. Sorry about the not to Hawaii like weather, we have rain here today too.

April 20, 2010 at 11:12 amFirst of all, pancakes, eggs, and fruit is something I would never have thought to combine but it sounds so delicious!!! I haven’t eaten eggs in months though, I wonder how my system would handle them after so long?
Second, I was really sorry to see all those negative comments on one of your last posts. My boyfriend is black and I didn’t think you were being racist with the Kunta Kinte thing. And the Russian thing, I don’t know, it didn’t even occur to me that it may be racist! Keep on, I look forward to reading your posts!

April 20, 2010 at 11:36 amI agree, you must go to Hawaii in search of those pancakes!

April 20, 2010 at 12:57 pmugh I WISH I made a pancake this morning! I’m having a random foods day and my stomach is hating me for it….you know those days where you just cant decide what to have and throw together lots of random things hoping it will satisfy…which of course it never does. Eh such is life.

April 20, 2010 at 1:04 pmThose pancakes look incredible… they may not be Hawaiian or served ocean-side on location, however HOLY YUM. I need pancakes.
And LOL your mug! I have a couple severely chipped mugs that I refuse to throw away, ironically one of them I purchased as a souvenir on vacation in Hawaii. Hmm…

April 21, 2010 at 6:23 pmBefore I went to Hawaii, I had a dream that I smelled the most wonderful, delicious scent I ever smelled. I don’t remember dreaming of “smelling” before or after that. When I finally did go to Hawaii, I smelled that exact intoxicating scent as soon as I stepped off the plane. It was amazing! I don’t even know what it was. Maybe you’ll be going there soon.
