Breakfast

Don’t Hate, Lubricate!

Good morning!

I feel great this morning after last night’s practice. My mouth is still sore and will be for probably a week (I can only eat soft food for a whole week!) but mentally, I feel so much better. And, my skin is the softest its ever been after the oil last night. Kishan said the most important thing we can do for our bodies every day is, immediately upon waking, rub our entire body with oil. He says he does it every single day and it lubricates the body from the outside in. Interesting, no?

This morning I woke up, drank a mug of my detox tea and made oatmeal for breakfast. This is a packet of HempPlus oatmeal with blueberries and hazelnut butter:

Here’s today’s lineup:

“The Saturday morning class is a Vata Pacifying practice. Vata Dosha is comprised of the elements of Akash (Space), and Vayu (Air). In Ayurveda this Dosha is the most important to keep in balance as it is the Vata dosha is the physiological function in charge if all movement principles in the body as well as the nervous system, cardiovascular system, etc. Common symptoms of Vata imbalance are constipation, bloating, cracking joints, body pain/aching, insomnia, anxiety, depression, emotional sensitivity, and an over-active mind. The asana class is sequenced to alleviate excess Vata dosha through lots of grounding work, opening and mobilizing the major joints in the body, working with the lower chakras if Mooladhara and Swadisthana as well as Manipura. It will emphasize the balance of the pancha vayus, or 5 sub-doshas of vata . The integration of marma point therapy into the asanas will aid in the pacification of Vata, and the stimulation of the metabolic force in the body called Agni. This class is most suitable to Intermediate and Advanced level practitioners but is open to all levels with prior yoga experience.”

So that class goes from noon to 2:30 and then I’ll be back for the lecture from 4-7. Ryan is coming home from Miami today (he went to the game!) so I’m sure we will do something for dinner tonight!

I’ll be back around 3 =)

What kind of oil, specifically, are you supposed to rub on yourself every day? And how long after you rub it on you do you feel oily? Have fun today!

oh sweetie that sounds AMAZING! That pretty much describes me, VATA girl, when I am not in balance. I cannot wait to hear about what foods are best for us. Thank you for sharing your experience, and have with your mom and with R tonight on your HOT DATE! 😉

Do you get all slippery from the oil? I can’t put on even lotion before I practice or I’m sliding all over. But it does sound quite yummy for the skin!

I’m so glad you’re feeling better! I remember by mouth surgery not being fun for about a week and a half afterwards. There are some nice shower oils that leave your skin soooo soft post-shower. BTW, you and Kath have gotten me totally hooked on nut butters + oatmeal in the morning… I NEVER ate anything like that before and now I can’t go a day without, haha!

Thanks for sharing the info on Vata because that’s my main dosha. It sucks to be anxious all the time. I need to practice some yoga moves. What’s your dosha? 🙂

Hi Jenna, I have a question about yoga. I do strength training and cardio regularly. Now I know you are supposed to let the muscles rest between lifting sessions and that is why I do them on 3 non consecutive days a week. I am interested in adding yoga to my routine. Is it ok if I do it on my rest days from lifting? And how come people practice yoga everyday, especially the more strenuous kind? Arent you supposed to let muscles recuperate? I am just confused because I am trying to fit it into my exercise schedule ! Thanks for letting me know what you think.

Mmmm, look at that hazelnut butter. Lovely close-up.

Can’t wait to hear more about your yoga adventures. I used to keep coconut oil in the shower and rub into my skins everyday…but, then I started to notice it was ruining my clothes, and I stopped after about 6 months. Man, those were months of the softest skin ever!

I’ve tried using oil as lotion but I stayed oily for too long. It did make my skin super smooth and soft.

Amazing hazelnut butter close up!! YUM!
