Behind The Butter/ Breakfast/ Dessert/ Dinner/ Lunch

Everything is a Competition

Hey guys!

Sorry about being MIA today….it was a totally craaaazy day and I barely sat down for 10 minutes!

But first, here is how we started our morning:

Oh yes. One big happy wine family. I sort of feel like I’m living a reality tv show right now……hah

Post-amazing grass, I had another bowl of oatmeal for breakfast with the usual fixins’–-apple, banana and almond butter 🙂

IMG_3907

Lunch was AWESOME because I got to eat leftovers from one of our Harvest Luncheons at the winery, catered by the amazing Zin! I ate at Zin last weekend and loooved it and actually will be going to the chef’s farm next week to do an interview and shoot some video for y’all. The chef owners, Jeff and Susan, actually grow all of their own food that they serve at the restaurant for a very “farm to table” feel. Today I got to try some beef brisket and butternut squash soup….it was faaaabulous!

IMG_3913

IMG_3915

Get this: they even roast their own chilies for the soup! How crazy cool is that?! I LOVED this!

But this was even better…..

IMG_3921

Oh yes……..this is caramel apple cake and it might have been the best dessert I’ve had all year. I don’t take that lightly either. This was just fabulous. I work so hard, can’t you tell??!

I was stuffed after lunch, naturally, but ran around all afternoon between tastings and tours so it was all good. I really wanted to run tonight when I got home but I didn’t end up getting back to the house until almost 7:00 and by that time, the boys were home and had just opened a bottle of St.Supery Cab so…….no run. The Cab was good though! 😉

We contemplated dinner for about 45 minutes until finally I told them I would just make do with whatever I could find in the kitchen and produce something…interesting. I have to earn my keep here somehow! 😉 I ended up doing this Asian-inspired shrimp soba dish that I think turned out pretty well, considering I had no plan whatsoever and just threw everything into Rocky’s wok!

IMG_3929

This was so easy. Basically, I just threw some garlic, ginger, bok choy and mushrooms into the wok with a bit of olive oil and then just threw in the shrimp at the end. I served it atop some soba noodles that I had drizzled with sesame oil….and then doused the whole thing with sriracha. Delicious.

Get this: I just got served a glass of champagne and am about to jump in the hot tub for a bit. These boys know how to treat a girl right, huh?! I might never leave! 😉 (just kidding)

IMG_3911

I really should be studying the 500+ page binder of wine information I brought home from work today…..but that’s what the weekend is for, right?!

Hope everyone had a great Thursday….see you early in the morning!

I don’t know how you’re able to make alcohol (even a little) part of your daily life and never succumb to the munchies! If I have just one or two beers, I spend the entire next day craving chips or pizza! Or maybe you get the cravings but you’re just a million times stronger than me 😀
